I bought merino glove liners and they fell apart after one week. I take good care of my gear and these were worn under ski gloves. Very disappointed with the durability.

Every year I look forward to their email about the spend X dollars get free Christmas socks promotion. Two years in a row now they haven't sent my free socks even though I spent enough to qualify. Each time customer service basically shrugs and says too bad. They claim they're out of the holiday socks and won't do anything about it. I do love their socks, but between the misleading promotions and their poor customer service I'm switching to Darn Tough going forward.

They used to make a decent product. Lately though I've been getting holes in brand new pairs within weeks, especially in the heel area. I'm really disappointed with how much the quality has dropped.

I paid extra for 3 day shipping but waited over two weeks. The whole point was to have the socks before a trip and now I'm out that money. The delivery kept happening even after I canceled, and they won't refund me. All this stress before and during my vacation, plus I had to buy replacement socks elsewhere which cost way more than I expected, leaving me short on cash to get home. The trip that was supposed to be budget-friendly became expensive and stressful. Feel totally scammed. Honestly you'd be better off making your own socks.

I had a really bad experience with their customer service. Ordered directly from their site and heard nothing for a week. I sent a follow-up email and got a delayed response saying there might be delays from their promotional period, but no information about when my order would actually ship.

I spent nearly 3 hours across multiple phone calls over several weeks dealing with this company's terrible customer service, and it was all over a pair of socks. I signed up for their mailing list to get a discount code, but the code they sent didn't work. Called customer service to have them resend it. My order qualified for free shipping based on my purchase amount. Placed the order. One pair came damaged, but since I actually needed them I had to call back. They refused to just send a replacement and made me reorder the entire thing. I asked for the same discount to be applied. The codes they sent still didn't work. Called again and spent another hour on the phone trying to place an order. Their system is really confusing. They told me my credit card wasn't working, so I called my card company and had them talk to the vendor directly. Nothing had been charged by Smartwool and the card company confirmed that. The customer service person then disconnected the call on me and never processed my order. I'm done with this company forever. Nearly 3 hours wasted over socks. This is unacceptable. Stay away from them.

These socks fell apart almost right away. They advertise a lifetime warranty but good luck actually getting a return processed.

Be careful with this company. A discount showed on my order, but when I went to pay it vanished and I got charged the full price which was way more than I anticipated. This has never happened to me before, so take a screenshot of any discounts you see before checkout to have proof in case it disappears like mine did. I reached out to the company but they denied it ever happened.

My order got delivered to the wrong address by the delivery company instead of my home. Smartwool has documentation showing this mistake, but they're telling me they can't refund until they hear from the carrier, who apparently isn't responding to their requests. So even though the company acknowledges I don't have my order and it went to the wrong place, I'm stuck with no product and no refund. Hopefully I'll eventually get my money back. Really poor handling of the situation.

Completely pointless, customer service is awful and unhelpful, won't be ordering from them again.

Got a pair of socks that looked stretched out and worn when they arrived. Took over a week just to get a response from customer service. When they finally replied, they said the socks weren't defective even though I sent pictures, and charged me to send them back. Terrible quality and terrible service. Don't shop here.

This website is a mess. Try calling and you get some random person who sounds like they're calling from their kitchen, definitely not someone you'd trust with your credit card info. Tried chat and they said nobody could assist. Tried email and they just told me to call the same number I already called. The whole company has terrible customer service and nobody takes responsibility. Honestly, forget Smartwool. Going to shop elsewhere for wool socks.

The return process is awful and clearly designed to make things difficult. Plus you have to pay for return shipping yourself.

The customer service here is absolutely terrible. My order never even showed up. Don't recommend buying from them online. Ordered socks and after 10 business days had no updates and no tracking number. Turns out they hadn't even shipped from the warehouse yet. Unbelievable. On top of that, Smartwool ignored all my support emails. The phone calls were frustrating and useless. Is this really the level of service they provide?

Got socks from their Canadian site. One pair showed up with a hole in the heel and looked like it had already been worn and returned before. Asked for a replacement and they said that style wasn't in stock. They told me I could either keep the broken socks and patch them myself with just 30% off, or cut the socks in half, send photos proving I cut them, and then they'd give me a full refund. They didn't offer any normal solution like a prepaid return label with no hassle. The return process is terrible and the service is unacceptable. Won't be buying from them again.
