Don't buy into the positive reviews. This company is bad. I called with a straightforward tax question and they refused to help. Plus they won't give you a clear price upfront. I've worked with top financial firms before and when these people asked if I traded crypto I was shocked. I only reached out because I saw their booth at a marketplace event. Seriously, skip them. I've had experience at major financial companies and some bad ones too, but this place is worse than hiring someone to do something they have no business doing. Go somewhere else like the other major tax company.

I'd been going to the Windsor location for five years. The first four years were good with no problems, but this year will be my last. John who handled my return this year is incompetent, plain and simple. He was completely disorganized and had trouble even stapling a few sheets of paper together. I wasn't sure he'd manage it. I paid and left thinking my taxes would be filed that day. Over a week later I called back around 10 in the morning, after they'd opened at 9. John answered and I asked if he'd filed my taxes. He claimed he'd just filed them that morning. What are the odds of that? Either John is the most disorganized and incompetent tax preparer Liberty Tax has ever hired, or he's an incredible liar who thinks I'm gullible. I didn't believe him. They transferred me to the manager, and the situation didn't improve.

Kris and Shelby are really professional and did excellent work at the South Dakota location. Got done in 40 minutes flat. Got my refund in my account within 5 days. Highly recommend them.

Horrible experience overall. The person helping me barely spoke English and completely botched my return, saying I owed $5000 more than I actually did. They were rude and disrespectful at the Saskatoon location.

I want to warn potential customers and give Liberty Tax Corporate some feedback. I had the same experience as with another big tax company, but at least this time I didn't waste as much time. Liberty Tax rejected my request for their Instant Cashback offer just because I'm in a Consumer Proposal. The whole point of doing a CP instead of Bankruptcy is that you're still meeting your obligations, yet Liberty Tax restricts people's access to services. With a CP, tax refunds go straight to you, not to creditors, and you don't owe anything when you file. A Consumer Proposal shouldn't be treated the same way as Bankruptcy. Both involve insolvency, sure, but a CP shouldn't stop you from getting your tax refund.

I went to the office in Vernon, BC and dropped off paperwork for an urgent supplemental reassessment that needed to get resubmitted right away. I called every week asking about progress, but Chad never returned my messages even though I was told he got them. After 6 weeks with no communication, I had to go somewhere else to file an appeal and refile everything. Chad didn't even have the courtesy to let me know he couldn't handle the work. Definitely would not recommend.

I hired this firm in Thornhill, Ontario to file both my business and personal taxes. It turned out to be a total disaster. I paid multiple invoices on schedule, including duplicate charges with the same invoice number, but the services never happened. The CRA confirmed nothing had been filed, which put my business in jeopardy. The company kept sending invoices with identical numbers on different dates for different services, which seems like either careless accounting or intentional confusion. When I complained, they denied everything. The accountant working my file vanished, and when I tried talking to management they dismissed me instead of offering any refund. I ended up having to hire another firm to fix everything, meaning I paid twice for the same work. It was months of stress and headaches. I later learned I'm not the only person this has happened to.

This place in Washington, Pennsylvania has done my taxes twice now. The only person working there is not ethical. First time around she prepared my taxes okay and seemed legit, even though she was pushing me to leave a five-star review online. But next tax season everything changed. She looked at what she'd prepared the year before and claimed she must've been in a good mood to charge so little. I said it shouldn't go over $300, and she agreed. Then she charged over $600 once my refund hit my bank account. These tax people make serious money off clients. Their website even admits the preparers don't have to be credentialed. That means they might not know actual tax rules. Don't let them take advantage of you. Be careful.

I'd give zero stars if I could. In Calgary, Alberta, they were acceptable last year but pricey. This year I asked what it'd cost and was told roughly $130 with a 5% returning customer discount. Then they nearly tripled the bill to almost $400 with no warning. Should've just stuck with the other major tax company. Not going back. These folks got sued in the US for a reason.

I really recommend their notary services. First time using them and it was fantastic, top marks. The staff member at the California location was so nice, friendly, patient, and explained what documents I'd need since my driver license had expired. I came back a few days later with what was needed and got everything notarized. The owner was equally professional, warm, and knowledgeable. Couldn't have asked for better service.

Can't believe my wife and I's simple taxes jumped from $170 total last year to $379 this year. Same basic filing, same situation. Went to the location in London, Ontario. Would stay away from this place.

My husband submitted his paperwork at the Hamilton Road office in London, Ontario. He'd worked in a different province the previous summer. I had my taxes prepared by a knowledgeable accounting office and they were done right. Liberty Tax gave him incorrect information and his return was completely wrong. He wants his documents back to have a real accounting firm redo it, but even after a year he still can't get them. I've called corporate too and they just keep blaming the local office. Worst company to deal with.
