Cotton On Group's Typo brand is deeply polarized, with 21 shoppers rating it 2.0 out of 5. About one quarter of reviewers report positive experiences, praising fast shipping, quality packaging, and product quality when orders arrive intact. However, the dominant pattern across reviews is severe customer service failures: unresponsive chat support and phone lines, inability or unwillingness to resolve basic issues like address changes or missing items, delayed problem notifications, and difficulty obtaining refunds. Several shoppers also report significant product redesigns that disappoint long-time customers, such as planners with inadequate daily space.

Shoppers consistently express frustration with the gap between the store's product quality and its customer support system. While some orders process smoothly, those requiring any intervention encounter an unhelpful chatbot, long hold times, and representatives unable or unwilling to help with common requests like address corrections or price adjustments. The lack of proactive communication about shipping problems compounds these issues, leaving customers to discover problems after significant delays.

I've grabbed Typo's A5 weekly planners every single week for six years because I love seeing my whole week in one view across two pages. But this year? Total letdown. Now the entire week is crammed onto one A5 page on the left side, which gives you only three lines per day - nowhere near enough space to jot down appointments. Plus, the day and date labels are super tiny and printed so light that you need glasses just to find what day you're looking for. The right side page is completely blank, which seems like a huge waste of space when a planner should be about planning, not journaling. They also cut way back on the blank note pages at the end, which is really frustrating. The old layout where each week took up two A5 pages with bonus blank pages at month's end was so much more useful. Hoping they bring back that version next year.

Zero customer service here. Items missing from my order. Waited ages just to get a response through their chat, then thirty minutes on hold on the phone. No solutions either way.

Ordered a bunch of stuff back in September for Christmas presents. Two weeks in and nothing, so I asked for an update. Turns out the package got wrecked during shipping and couldn't be delivered. They finally gave me a refund after a lot of back and forth with their unhelpful chatbot. But they never once told me about the problem with my package.

Lost £35 on this mess. Ordered two bowls as gifts and accidentally hit submit on Apple Pay before I realized my old address was loaded in there. By the time I realized, the order was locked in. Talked to two different live chat reps and one person on the phone, and none of them could change the delivery address for me. They all just said to contact the delivery company, who told me I'd have to get the retailer to fix it. Since I can't do that, I'm out thirty-five pounds with zero refund and no way to get my package. Just want to say the staff were super nice about it, but Typo and Cotton On's actual procedures are really frustrating. Make sure you double-check everything before paying because once the transaction goes through, you're stuck - no refunds, no solutions.

Not sure why people are posting so many awful reviews. My experience was really good. Yeah, the bad feedback made me nervous, but I ordered anyway - got three rolls of wrapping paper, a Christmas bauble, and a scented candle. Ordered Tuesday, they shipped it Wednesday, got it Friday. The candle smells incredible and came packed really carefully. The bauble felt durable and sturdy, and the wrapping paper looked exactly like what was shown - can't tell you about how thick it is yet since it's for Christmas. Everything felt quality-made.

So Cotton On owns Typo, and I bought some socks at their physical location. Once I got home and checked their website, I realized those same socks were listed for less money. Tried calling the store a bunch of times to ask about getting the price difference back, but nobody ever picked up. Figured customer service would just handle it, so I sent an email. They basically told me no - went on about how they have different prices for in-store versus online depending on promotions and stock levels. Real helpful. The thing is, those socks are available for pickup right at that same store, so it's completely misleading what they're doing. That's straight-up deceptive practice if you ask me. I'm filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities once Visa processes my chargeback, because this company needs to stop pulling this stuff on shoppers. Steer clear of anything from this group.

Shopping would be a lot better if Cotton On recommended items that pair well together. Like suggesting a matching bag with a dress or accessories that complement an outfit. That would really improve the experience.

Left my package sitting out in the rain and then wouldn't do a thing to help me get replacements

Trevor K.Oct 1, 2024

Visited the Wellington store and wasn't a fan of how they practically force you to hand over your email address. They should respect customer privacy instead of pushing that.

Bought something from Cotton On and it arrived in two days. Had to send it all back the next day though because the sizing was off for me. It's been over a month now and I still haven't seen my £96 refund. I've been a regular customer for years, but their support hasn't been helpful at all. I'm worn out from constantly chasing them down. Just really let down by this whole thing

Stay away from ordering here. Grabbed some items for holiday gifts using their Black Friday deal - those never showed, even though I forked out extra for speedy delivery. Their customer service team (whether human or just bots) is absolutely pathetic. After I emailed the main office saying how much I needed those items, they said they'd refund me - no apology, no goodwill voucher, nothing. Fast forward and I got charged again two months later without ever receiving my package or my refund. Sent another email but honestly if that money doesn't show up by tomorrow I'm contacting the consumer protection office

I'd give Typo zero stars if I could. The staff at the Warringah location is super annoying - constantly pitching products and asking questions even when it's clear you just want to browse. Let me look around in peace.

Patricia M.Aug 8, 2023

Haven't run into such terrible customer service in quite some time. Their social media seems totally automated - same canned responses over and over, or they just straight up ignore you and leave you hanging when you actually need help. There's zero empathy in how they handle things. It's strange considering these companies make tons of money and usually go out of their way for customers, even if it costs them. You'd think loyal customers would matter, but Typo clearly couldn't care less. The store itself is fine, but I won't be coming back. Pretty much every other place I buy from actually steps up when I have an issue. Not sure what's going on with their email support, social channels, or Instagram, but something needs to change.

Douglas H.Jun 26, 2023

Received a shipment with broken items - stuff was filthy, scratched, and dented. They also sent me items I didn't order instead of what I actually requested. Some things still had packaging torn open, which is gross and totally unsafe. I want a refund for everything that came to me damaged. Sent a detailed email listing everything with the damaged pieces marked. Bought from them before and never had issues like this, so maybe it's just bad luck? But with how many similar complaints are out there and how my email either got blocked or their system's so flooded with complaints it won't accept more, I'm done. Won't be ordering again. This just lost them a ton of business from people in my field, and they'll probably tell everyone else to shop elsewhere too after hearing what happened to me.

Their wrapping paper is seriously the best around. The designs are awesome and the paper is super thick, doesn't rip up easily. Keep making it because it's fantastic
