What Shoppers Say About McGraw-Hill
McGraw-Hill's educational platform receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from students, with 1.0 out of 5 based on 22 reviews. The most consistent complaints center on technical reliability issues, including lost progress on assignments, browser tab proliferation, and inconsistent functionality that forces students to spend significant time troubleshooting rather than learning. Additional frustrations include overly restrictive content protection that prevents copying text for study purposes, a poorly functioning text-to-speech feature with inaccurate progress tracking, and a user experience described as frustrating and poorly designed.
Students report that the platform fails to deliver meaningful learning outcomes, with repetitive question formats that do not promote genuine understanding. The combination of technical instability (with some features working only sporadically), restrictive access controls, and unintuitive interface design has led reviewers to express that the platform has negatively impacted their academic motivation and experience. Few positive aspects emerge from the available feedback.

Sorted by: Most recentThis application is absolutely terrible. It seems designed purely to cause frustration, and it's genuinely ruined my academic experience. Once we started using this in class, my motivation and well-being took a serious hit. Progress doesn't save on assignments you've spent hours completing. Every button click opens another tab. The whole system runs painfully slow. Finding any previous assignments is needlessly complicated. This is legitimately one of the worst applications in existence. I'm convinced it's intentionally designed to stress people out. I'd rather face almost anything than do another assignment on this platform. Teachers who regularly use this should also reconsider their methods. This software is genuinely destructive and needs to be removed.
The content protection on this platform is completely frustrating. When I tried to highlight text so I could pull definitions into my study app, the system blocked me from copying anything. Their copy protection is overly restrictive and honestly just feels like a cheap way to prevent people from using the material how they want. I understand they want to protect their content, but this approach hurts students way more than it helps. Now I'm spending hours manually typing out flashcards instead of actually studying, which defeats the whole purpose. This decision has really turned me off from recommending this company to educational institutions.
I rely on this site for my spreadsheet coursework, but the reliability is all over the place. Some days it functions fine, other days it won't cooperate at all. Way more of my time goes into troubleshooting technical problems than actually completing the assignments. The multiple-choice sections work okay, but anything with spreadsheet components becomes a nightmare that eats up my entire evening.
McGraw Hill products just don't work for me. I haven't seen any real learning benefit from using them. Just repeating the same questions over and over doesn't help you actually understand anything.
I absolutely despise this platform. Every time I have to log in, I feel genuine frustration with the whole experience.
The text-to-speech feature really needs a major upgrade. It's barely functional when you can't control which section plays. The progress bar is wildly inaccurate and makes the TTS feature more frustrating than helpful. It would also be nice if words highlighted as the audio reads so you can follow along easily. Also, why does this site block browser-based reader extensions when they work perfectly fine everywhere else? Please get this fixed.
The system is completely broken. It keeps marking my answers as wrong when I know they're correct.
This system is awful. It marks answers as incorrect when they're actually right.
For purchasing and reading ebooks, this site is my only experience with it. After what feels like five minutes of not doing anything, you get logged out. Even while actively using the ebook, it disconnects frequently, and refreshing won't help at all - you've got to shut everything down, sign back in, and repeat. It might seem trivial, but during extended study sessions for your coursework, this becomes infuriating pretty quickly. I seriously doubt you could find a worse ebook platform anywhere. If you have options, go somewhere else for digital books.
I've only used this site for buying and reading digital textbooks. The platform logs you out automatically after just a few minutes of inactivity, and sometimes even when you're actively reading. You can't just refresh to get back in either - you have to completely close the app and log in all over again, sometimes repeatedly. This seems minor until you're trying to get through a long reading assignment for class, and then it becomes absolutely maddening. After an hour you'll want to pull your hair out. Honestly, I can't think of a worse digital book platform if I tried. Do yourself a favor and buy your ebooks anywhere else you possibly can.
