Henry’s Reviews
Henry's has a severe customer service problem that dominates negative feedback. Shoppers report unresponsive support channels (non-functional phone lines, ignored emails, slow chat responses), shipping errors (wrong addresses, missing parts, open box items), and an extremely tight return window (15 days) paired with a slow response policy (5 days to respond). Multiple customers describe feeling ignored for weeks without resolution and have considered filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau. The overwhelming majority of reviewers say they will not return.
A small number of shoppers had positive experiences at physical locations, praising staff friendliness and helpfulness. However, this praise is vastly outweighed by complaints about online ordering, fulfillment, and the company's inability or unwillingness to resolve problems through customer service.
They shipped me an open box item that was missing parts when it was supposed to have everything included. The customer service online is pretty useless. Their policy says they'll respond within 5 days, but you only get 15 days to return things. That's way too tight. I won't be ordering from them again. Oh, and the second thing in my order is still showing as processing after a week even though it was listed as in stock when I bought it. This company has really gone downhill since they were bought by a private equity firm in 2023.
I honestly don't understand how they're still operating. They're like that car dealer you dread having to deal with, except they sell cameras. We're actually planning to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about them. The customer service is honestly just bad, and there are simple things they could improve on their website that would make a real difference for shoppers. Then there are hidden fees that pop up at checkout that they don't tell you about upfront. Items listed on their site with prices displayed can't be purchased with gift cards, but there's no warning about that. After my first visit I told myself I'd never come back. Unfortunately my partner didn't know that and got me a huge gift card from there for Christmas. Now I literally check their website every day and regret it because I know I'll have to deal with them. I finally found one thing I wanted to buy, but by the time customer service got back to me after multiple days of waiting between replies, it was already sold out. Having to deal with this company honestly makes me feel terrible, and I feel awful that my partner spent her hard-earned money on something that's causing me stress because she was trying to do something nice. Just go somewhere else.
This was honestly the worst business experience I've ever had. I placed an order for a camera online weeks back and they've completely ignored me since. There's no customer service phone line that actually works, emails don't get answered, and their web chat is useless. My credit card got charged but I have zero information about whether or when my order will show up. I needed this camera for a really important trip happening this month and now that's falling apart. I'm shocked to see a Canadian company operating like this. Would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
It's now been 25 days since I bought a Tamron lens at the local store back in July. The package got sent to the wrong address up in the Toronto area instead of where I asked. After almost 4 weeks, I don't have the lens and nobody's been able to give me a straight answer about what's happening or offer a refund. Customer service hasn't reached out to me, and the store says they don't have the authority to issue a refund. This has been a really bad experience. I'd tell anyone buying from here to make sure they're only purchasing things that are actually sitting in the store location you're at.
Not helpful when I reached out for support, and they keep sending me junk email even though I never asked for it. I've told them multiple times to stop with the spam but they just keep ignoring my requests.
Went to the Scarborough location to get some photos from a trip printed up. The whole experience was fantastic. Stephanie was wonderful to work with, really cheerful and super helpful and caring. I'm definitely planning to go back when I need anything else. She's the kind of person who makes shopping at Henry's genuinely enjoyable. An absolute superstar!
The people working here weren't very knowledgeable about the products they sell, particularly Godox lighting gear. They wanted almost double what other shops charge for a softbox simply because they're temporarily out of stock right now, and they absolutely refuse to match any competitor pricing. They're really taking advantage of customers who need something urgently and don't have other options besides paying their inflated prices.
The team here didn't know much about what they were selling, especially when it came to Godox lighting equipment. What really bothered me was that they charged almost twice what I could get elsewhere for a softbox, just because they were temporarily out of stock. They wouldn't even consider matching a competitor's price. It felt like they were really taking advantage of customers who needed something right away and had no choice but to pay what they wanted.
Their website said a camera was available, so I ordered it. Right after placing my order, I called to follow up and they told me it actually wasn't in stock. They said they were waiting on the manufacturer because of supply issues. Only after I'd already bought it did they update the website to show it as out of stock with a note to order if you want it when they get more in. The whole reason I placed that order was because the website showed it in stock. It's been weeks now and my camera still hasn't arrived.
Something is seriously wrong with the way this company handles online orders. I've placed three orders total and had problems with two of them. Both times, their system issues caused my shipments to be delayed by 6 to 8 weeks. One bad experience might happen to anyone, but two out of three? It's clear they don't have their act together when it comes to fulfilling orders, and they don't seem to care much about fixing things.
I bought a $70 gift card at the Oakville location but they only loaded $25 onto it. When I went back asking for a refund, the staff said they couldn't do that for a gift card. I suggested they leave the $25 on there and refund me the other $45, and they said they'd have to check with head office and call me back. That call never came. A few days later I went back in and they just handed me another $70 gift card, which doesn't solve anything. I'm done shopping here.
This isn't what I expected from Henry's at all. I brought in my Nikon D500 camera back in April or May of 2022 because there were water droplets stuck inside on the rear screen. I waited over two and a half months to get it back. When I finally got it, most of the water spots were gone, but plenty of them were still there on the top and sides of the screen. I sent it back again. Three months later it came back with a completely different rear screen. The replacement screen is all scratched up and beat to hell and doesn't even belong on my camera. It doesn't fit right and sticks out. I brought it back and explained the new problem they created. They sent it to the repair shop again and I waited another two to three months. It finally came back but nothing was done to fix the screen issue. After being without my camera for seven or eight months I just gave up. I tried to work with them to get it fixed but they didn't seem interested in actually solving the problem. I shouldn't have had to send it back a fourth time since I already knew what would happen. They never reached out to me unless I called asking for an update. Whenever they made repair orders they had the wrong email address on file.
Called ahead to check if an item was in stock before making the drive. It took like 7 different calls because they kept putting me on hold, and I got hung up on several times. After about 30 minutes of calling back, they finally confirmed they had what I needed. So I drove out there. When I got to the store, there were employees at the counter but nobody else around, and when I walked past the front they all vanished. Eventually one of the staff asked if I needed help. I told her I was there to pick up the bag on the counter. She grabbed it and said she'd ring me up, but I asked if I could look around first. She said sure, and I found a couple items I wanted. When I tried to ask for assistance, they just walked away. I decided to leave and pay for what I had. The guy ringing me out couldn't pull up my account, and when I asked why, he got loud. I was so frustrated I couldn't even process what he said. I called the manager, but he basically took the employee's side and said the problem was mine. I don't know what's happened to this place over the last couple years, but the whole chain seems to have fallen apart. The new website is terrible and hardly anything from the London location even shows up on it. Going to Henry's used to actually be enjoyable. The manager claims there's no discrimination in his store, but honestly there is.
Had a terrible experience with them. I ordered a full printer ink set worth around $200 over a month ago. Then my account suddenly stopped working because they were doing updates to their online shop. After another week I could finally log back in, but all my orders, including the one for the ink that never got shipped, had disappeared. I've tried reaching out through email, calling their number, asking for a callback, and using their chat feature. It's been over 5 weeks since I placed the order and more than a week and a half since I first tried to contact them about it. Still nothing.
Ordered a pre-owned Nikon 35mm lens through their website and paid over $200. They gave me a link to track my order but it had basically no real information on it. Three weeks went by without hearing anything. When I finally called their support team, they blamed it on their website being switched from an old system to a new one. I even drove to the Winnipeg location in person and the staff there were the ones who originally recommended this particular used lens to me because it was on sale. But by the time they said they couldn't fill my order because it was placed on the old system and the new one couldn't process it, I'd lost out on the deal and wasted three weeks. Nobody had warned customers on the website that orders from that time period might not go through. This was really misleading. The money from my order was frozen on my credit card too. Because of this delay, I missed out on some work opportunities.
