We experienced the exact same issues described in the first complaint here and we've reached out to Thrifty many times about funds they said they'd give back after we returned the vehicle and we never got a dime back. Would not use them under any circumstances. Be careful out there.

STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF THEM. We booked through Thrifty down in Miami and got what looked like a good deal with loss damage waiver and liability insurance. They said it was all set but we got charged for it anyway at the counter and our total cost doubled. We called their support team several times and they wouldn't budge but promised we'd get refunded once we brought the car back. We returned it. After a bunch of back and forth emails they told us refunds weren't allowed. That's basically stealing. I bring up the other companies because the parent corporation owns all three of them. They all operate the same way. Don't use any of them.

DON'T RENT FROM THEM. We got a car from Thrifty in Miami and the price seemed reasonable until we actually went through with it. We thought we had loss damage coverage and extra liability included but we ended up paying for everything twice. The final bill was basically double what we expected. We called customer service multiple times but they said there was nothing they could do and promised a refund after we returned the car. We brought the car back. After going back and forth with emails they said a refund wasn't possible. That's basically theft. I'm mentioning the parent company too because that's who owns them both. These subsidiaries are all the same. Stay away from all of them.

RED FLAG. The company used to be okay but now avoid them at all costs. I gave back my car in pristine condition totally by myself without any dirt or damage and they tried to bill me for a cleaning a month after I returned it. When I dropped the car off I looked for someone to do an inspection to cover myself against phony charges. No one was there to do one. I told the person at the desk what condition it was in. But they still came after me with fake charges including a toll notice even though I'd prepaid for tolls. Don't put your faith in this company they operate dishonestly. I work for a large corporation and I've informed them about this place so they stopped using them. Trying to call them to fix their fraudulent charges is pretty much impossible so imagine getting help if something goes wrong during your rental. This company doesn't deserve your business they prey on customers. I'm considering a lawsuit with others as I'm sure plenty more people have been victimized. Everyone should speak up to make these big companies responsible for mistreating consumers.

CAUTION TO ALL. They've really declined from what they used to be. I returned my car in pristine condition with absolutely no scratches or damage and they attempted to charge me for cleaning well after I brought it back. There was nobody around to inspect the vehicle when I returned it, so I made a point to inform staff to protect myself from questionable fees. Sure enough, fake charges kept coming including a toll bill despite me buying the toll package beforehand. This outfit operates fraudulently and isn't worth your trust. I've made my company aware and they've stopped using them too. Contacting their customer support to fight these fake charges is nearly impossible, so imagine what happens if you encounter issues during your rental. Avoid this business entirely as they will exploit customers. I'm exploring a lawsuit along with others because I'm confident many more people have been scammed. Speak up and demand accountability from these massive corporations.

WATCH OUT. This place has gone downhill fast. I returned my vehicle in immaculate shape with zero damage and they still tried to bill me for cleaning services months later. When I dropped it off, there wasn't even anyone available to do a proper inspection, so I made sure to tell the agent what condition it was in. Unfortunately, they've hit me with bogus charges anyway including a toll notice even though I paid upfront for the toll option. Don't trust them at all. My employer has also blacklisted them after I reported what happened. Getting them on the phone about these fraudulent charges is basically impossible, which is terrifying if something goes wrong during your actual rental. This company doesn't deserve your money and will take advantage of you. I'm considering joining others in legal action because I'm positive there are way more people being victimized. Everyone needs to speak up and hold these corporations accountable for ripping off customers.

Thrifty at the Washington, D.C. airport location. Rental dates were November 1-3, 2025. I need to warn potential renters about my experience there. I got a vehicle for the weekend and picked it up Friday and returned it Sunday. I barely drove it and kept it parked at my place the whole time. When I brought it back the car was clean and the tank was full. A staff member walked the vehicle with me confirmed nothing was wrong and sent me on my way. About twenty minutes later while sitting at the gate I got an email saying they opened a damage report for the car. The pictures were blurry and hard to make out with no clear proof that anything was even damaged or that it happened when I had the car. Getting slapped with damage charges after the fact is really problematic. Customers are being blamed for damage that may have happened after they gave back the car with no solid evidence or time stamped documentation.

This is a total rip off. They told us a toll sticker was required in the country we were going to and charged us eighty six bucks for it. We drove around for a whole week and barely saw any toll roads. We probably only owed around ten dollars max. We felt completely deceived and this feels like outright fraud.

Fantastic pricing at this airport location. Checking in was simple and returning the car was even faster and more efficient. The vehicle was spotless and for such an affordable rental option it came loaded with nice features like a backup camera and worked perfectly with my phone's Android system.

Thrifty really shines when it comes to several important areas that make them stand out as a solid car rental option. Their pricing is hard to beat while still keeping quality high. The fleet is really diverse with everything from compact economy rides to spacious SUVs so you can pick what works for you. They've got tons of locations which is super convenient especially at big airports and downtown areas making pickup and return super easy. The staff is always pleasant and quick which keeps the whole rental smooth without any stress. If you rent often their Blue Chip Rewards program gives you perks like faster checkout and discounts. Plus the cars are spotless and well kept so you feel good while driving. When you add all this together it creates a really nice experience renting from them.

The whole rental process was seamless and their representative Kayla went above and beyond to help us out. Coming off a tiring flight it was really nice to work with someone so attentive and upbeat. We're very grateful to Kayla for making the experience such a positive one.

The staff here treated me with incredible respect and genuine kindness throughout my experience.
