The Alzheimer's Store receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 1.4 out of 5 based on 12 reviews. The primary complaints center on defective products that arrive broken or fail to function as advertised, misleading product descriptions and marketing claims, and severely problematic customer service including unresponsive phone lines, ignored voicemails, and lack of follow-up support. Shoppers report aggressive return policies with strict restocking fees (25 percent mentioned), slow refund processing, and requirements to pay for return shipping on defective items. Several reviewers describe the experience as exploitative given the vulnerable population the store serves.

A small minority of shoppers gave higher ratings, but detailed reviews indicate even these customers had significant reservations. Common product issues include animatronic pets that function far below advertised capabilities, poor build quality, artificial movement and sounds, and rough textures rather than the soft, comforting designs implied in marketing. Shoppers consistently recommend avoiding the store and warn others about the combination of poor products, deceptive descriptions, unresponsive support, and unfavorable return terms.

The company shipped me a product that was broken right out of the box and never functioned. They're trying to scam me by insisting I pay to send it back and then threatening to charge me a restocking fee on top of that for their defective product. They don't answer phones and don't return voicemails. Steer clear of this outfit.

Wasted money on the robotic cat for my parent in a nursing home who has dementia. Cost $150 on sale with promises of tons of features and voice command capability. When I got it out of the box and charged it up, I tried all the commands and was shocked to find it basically just moves its head and tail while lighting up the eyes. That's it. Hard to justify spending more than $20 on something that does so little. I called the same day asking for a refund and they shut me down immediately, claiming it can't be returned because it has fur and can't be sanitized for resale. Looking at their other products, returns are basically impossible anyway, and when they do allow them they slap you with a 25-50% restocking charge. This company is preying on families already dealing with the heartbreak of having a loved one with dementia.

This store acts as a middleman and provides zero follow-up support on what they sell. Their marketing is completely misleading. The animatronic puppy is loud, moves in an awkward robotic way like a wind-up toy from decades ago, and barks in an artificial manner. It's rough textured, not soft or huggable at all. Total waste of money. The actual manufacturers are way more helpful, so if you absolutely must buy this product go straight to the source. Heads up that this store appears to be filtering reviews, so if you see critical feedback on search engines or other platforms but not on their site, that tells you not to trust anything positive showing up there. It's unfortunate because they're exploiting the trust and goodwill of families trying to help their relatives. They'll say items with fur can't be returned, which applies to basically everything they sell similar to this, so they're misleading people by not just stating items aren't returnable but hiding behind excuses. A business like this that targets vulnerable folks really shouldn't be allowed to operate.

This company has major red flags. The item I got wasn't described accurately on their site. Trying to return it has been a nightmare because their return policy is really strict and unhelpful, especially during the holiday period. We feel like we've been ripped off. Be careful before ordering from here.

David H.Nov 6, 2025

Ordered two products in September and had a change in plans that made me need to send them back before the 30 days was up. Got my Return Authorization approved and shipped everything back on my dime. Their refund process was incredibly slow. I only got money back for one item and they subtracted a 25% restocking fee. They quit responding after that. Now I'm fighting it through my credit card company to get the second refund. I've got plenty of proof so I'm confident I'll win, but dealing with this place has been a nightmare.

Nicole R.Aug 27, 2025

Stay away from this website. It's a total scam. How can they get away with taking money from people suffering with Alzheimer's and their families? The fact that they're exploiting such vulnerable people is sickening. This is a company taking advantage of folks at their lowest point.

Thomas B.Aug 15, 2025

Got a pippa tipper automatic lockable dispenser thinking it would work for my 93 year old dad. Turns out it doesn't operate the way they said it would. This store refuses returns on items like this so I'm stuck with $120 wasted on a useless product. Never buy from this place.

Michael D.May 21, 2025

Purchased a senior cell phone that initially worked fine, but then it stopped working properly. Called their support line hoping to get some technical help. I wasn't even looking for a refund, just wanting assistance. After calling three times over two weeks and leaving messages since nobody picked up, plus sending two emails, I got nothing back. Not a single response. This is completely unacceptable. I really can't recommend them.

Karen V.May 3, 2025

This isn't a good place to purchase from. Shipping the raz cell phone took two weeks, and once you finally get it you discover it's a lemon for over $350 but you've only got thirty days to return it. The customer service reps are dismissive and rude. The phone itself is useless. I'm really surprised the Alzheimer's Association Store even carries this. They should be much more transparent about what they're selling.

Purchased a television remote from AlzStore and it won't work with my mother-in-law's TV at her assisted living place. I opened it up to put in batteries and see if I could get it connected, but since I passed their 30-day window they rejected my return request even though the remote was basically still in new condition and not useful.

William F.May 9, 2023

Make sure you read the reviews thoroughly before spending big bucks on anything. We also track our purchases to see if we want to keep them since a handful of negative reviews don't always tell the whole story. We got the memory phone and we're still really pleased with it. Yeah, it's basically a standard phone underneath, but the design is smart with features to cut down on spam. Anyone supporting someone with memory problems should really consider this phone.

Robert T.Apr 19, 2023

The concept sounded great, but the execution is terrible and the product doesn't work right. Don't waste your cash. We got what amounts to a $70 smartphone with a buggy app bundled together and tagged at almost $400 including a pad charger. The phone was super unreliable and their return policy is a total ripoff. Since they have your payment they're not interested in letting go of it. They hit you with 30-50% fees on returns they say are unused, supposedly at their discretion. We get that some medical and personal hygiene items have return restrictions, but a broken phone and charger shouldn't fall into that category. Our return was in perfect shape and unused, yet they still took 33% off our $400. As for how it actually works, we put the phone on the charging pad and left it overnight. By the next day the screen had switched from the Alzheimer's interface over to the regular phone system. We phoned their tech support but the issue kept happening, which would be a nightmare for someone managing moderate Alzheimer's or a caregiver without much technical know-how. On top of that the display stays lit all the time which burns through the battery super fast on this budget phone.
