America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses Reviews
America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses receives deeply polarized feedback, with shoppers either highly satisfied or significantly dissatisfied. Those giving five-star ratings praise fast in-store service, competitive pricing, and skilled staff at physical locations, particularly for frame repairs and adjustments. However, one-star reviewers report serious issues including poor product quality (frames described as flimsy with lenses that pop out), failed repair work that does not hold up, slow or non-responsive online ordering, unexplained order cancellations, and customer service problems including alleged pressure to purchase unnecessary eyewear and difficulty obtaining refunds.
The most common complaints center on online operations and fulfillment, with customers reporting extended delays (two to three weeks or longer), unresponsive email support, and cancelled orders due to processing failures. Some reviewers also express concerns about sales practices and the company's willingness to stand behind purchases, with mentions of unresolved refund disputes and corporate customer service giving inconsistent information. The stark rating divide suggests a significant gap between the in-store experience at physical locations and the online ordering experience.
Updated three months later: The lens popped out again and their repair didn't even last a week. The staff doesn't seem to care. Untrained workers can't even properly screw in a lens. These are cheap products and poorly made. Their glasses are flimsy and nobody on the team seems to know what they're doing. When I brought in a lens that fell out, they couldn't even replace it and I had to come back the next day. This place is the definition of low quality. Their mascot is an owl because they truly don't give a hoot about their customers or their junk products.
Really disappointed with the service and honesty here. They sold me glasses I didn't even need. When I got a second opinion from another eye doctor, they confirmed I have perfect vision. America's Best won't refund me what they owe. The corporate office keeps giving me the runaround, leaving me on hold forever, changing their story about when they mailed my check, and claiming they have no record in their system so they can only cancel and reissue. This place is anything but America's Best. I've filed complaints with both the state optometry board and the Better Business Bureau.
The store itself is great with fast service and prices you can't beat. But the website? Terrible. I placed an order in mid-December for frames that were on sale. After waiting about three weeks, I called to check on my order and they said they'd rush it. Two weeks went by and then they cancelled everything because they took too long processing my payment. When I looked back at those same frames, the sale had ended and the price jumped up 30 percent. They blamed it on too many orders and wouldn't work with me to make it right, just cancelled. That's honestly pretty sneaky.
Took way longer than they promised. I had a special event coming up at the end of the month and needed glasses fast so I decided to try them out. Twenty days went by and my order still hadn't shipped. I sent three emails and got no response. I'll go somewhere else next time.
Isabella at the mall location did wonderful work fixing my bent frames. Everything was done fast and my glasses came back looking and feeling perfect! Great job here.
Isabella at the mall location did an amazing job fixing my bent frames. She got them back in shape super quick and they look and feel just like new! Really happy with how it turned out.
What a waste of time and money. I had a noon appointment and ended up waiting almost two hours. The staff told me they were understaffed in sales and couldn't even ring me up because nobody knew how to use the register. By the time someone helped me, the cashier came back saying others were on their lunch breaks. There was another customer ahead of me who also waited forever and ended up leaving to reschedule. After nearly two hours, I finally paid and got pushed to buy add-ons repeatedly. This felt like a complete setup. I've been going to my regular eye doctor for over 20 years just an hour and a half away, and I thought I'd try somewhere closer to work. Big mistake. When I asked for corporate contact info, they gave me the runaround saying the manager would call back because she was busy. I asked about reaching a district manager or getting an email and all they gave me was a name. I wasted 69 dollars for nothing but frustration. Skip this place completely!
What an awesome group working there! Rajani greeted me at the front, Marie worked on the lenses, Khadijah as assistant manager was incredibly helpful, and Gina as the general manager. Not only did I get fantastic glasses, but they helped me out multiple times when I needed adjustments. This team really went above and beyond and I'm really grateful for them!
I ordered two pairs online in mid-September. Actually I thought I had placed an order a week before but it didn't go through, so I had to start from scratch. They cancelled one pair without any explanation in their email. Their customer service email takes forever to respond if they answer at all. When I finally got someone on the phone, they had no idea why it happened. Only one pair showed up and that didn't arrive until late October. Meanwhile I ordered from a different company on a Friday in mid-October and got those glasses the same day mine arrived. Way better experience with the other place.
Be careful if you go here. I brought in two pairs of designer frames to get new lenses put in. One was a pair of Flak sunglasses and the other was another designer brand in a nice microfiber bag and leather case. What came back was bad: only one of my original frames returned, the other replaced with a cheap generic knockoff. My Flak sunglasses vanished. The leather case and microfiber bag also disappeared and got replaced with cheap wool sleeves you'd see at a yard sale. When I went back to complain, the manager was defensive and offered me some random pair from their wall that wasn't even close to what I lost in terms of style or quality. I'm now out over 500 dollars trying to replace everything they lost. I'm working with corporate to try and get some kind of compensation but haven't seen any results yet. Bottom line: don't leave your nice things with them. They lost my expensive gear and had zero interest in making it right. Get a different place unless you don't mind losing your stuff and being treated poorly. Update: They did reach out and said they'd order replacement frames in the same style. However I was then told that they would...
The service at the shop here was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was attentive and Chris in particular really helped me get exactly what I needed. The eye exam went fast and I had my glasses ready in just a couple days. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Really impressed with my visit to the store on Sutton Road. The staff is very friendly, the place is clean and well organized with glasses displayed nicely. I've been to another location before and this one is so much better. They got my prescription exactly right. When I was nervous about whether something was off, Samantha the manager came over and was so kind. She adjusted everything so I could see perfectly. That kind of customer service made me leave with a big smile. I'd definitely recommend this location to anyone. Trust me, you'll walk out just as happy as I did.
Went in to get my first pair of contacts at the local shop and the staff was fantastic! They treat you like a real person instead of just another person walking through the door. My experience was especially great because of Andrea, who's super friendly and has such a great personality. If more people were like her, the world would definitely be better. Andrea, if you read this, you already know what's up!
Had an amazing visit at our local store location. I have to give a huge thank you to Mary on staff! She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made the whole experience wonderful. My son never had the right prescription before and refused to wear his glasses, but now he absolutely loves them. My daughter is thrilled with her new pair too, and my husband got his contact prescription updated and fixed. The entire team deserves recognition. Mary, you're awesome!
