It's wild that Benchmade shows 4.9 out of 5 stars on their site while getting terrible feedback here. Had a military rescue folding knife marked at 375 dollars. Like everyone else commenting here, the hardware kept coming loose. First the deep pocket clip screws loosened up after about a month. Then the blade got so wobbly it started falling open. Tightened everything back down and ended up in a catch 22 where I couldn't find the right tension setting. Those pocket clip screws just kept backing off and I'm not going to carry around hex keys every single day. Used it as my EDC for different tasks but kept losing it from those screws getting loose until one day it just vanished from my pocket. Called Benchmade to see what they could do. My buddy who recommended it said they'd definitely help out. Nope. They said they'd send replacement screws if I buy another one. Hard pass. Not getting another one ever.
I requested replacement screws from them about a week and a half ago because mine kept loosening. They responded saying they'd send coated ones that wouldn't back out. I included photos showing the missing large screw at the bottom. When I replied pointing out exactly which screw I needed, the rep confirmed they'd send a complete set. Got the screws but the one I specifically mentioned was still missing. Reached out again and was told they don't send that particular part and I'd have to ship the whole knife in for repairs. The rep clearly didn't look at my photos before responding. Should've told me about the repair requirement up front. I don't even carry that knife anyway. My fixed blade Benchmades are solid, but folding knives from them I can't recommend. Their team didn't bother reviewing my situation carefully from the start.
The support is subpar. They've pushed back the delivery date twice now and we're still waiting on the knife.
Grabbed the green S30V pocket knife and I'm thrilled with it. The blade quality is outstanding and it holds its edge like nothing else. Stays sharp and tough as nails. Definitely recommend picking one up, seriously.
Spent four hundred bucks on a knife and the mechanism failed within forty five minutes. Took it back to the shop where I bought it and they swapped it out for a cheaper two seventy six dollar model. Guy said I had full coverage at any dealer anywhere. Then I moved from Oregon to Montana. Tracked down a dealer near me and drove two hours only to find they don't even stock Benchmade. Went to an actual dealer instead and they won't swap it out, only repair for a fee which voids the warranty. Looked online for the warranty form to send it to Benchmade directly but they only send returns back to dealers. My nearest dealer is five hours away. Total mess.

The compact size makes it ideal for smaller folks or ladies. The Griptilian feels substantial in your hand, like a real man's knife. I'd give full marks but both need some break in time.
