Crunch Fitness receives polarized feedback from shoppers, with ratings heavily split between five-star and one-star reviews. Positive reviewers consistently praise the staff, the variety and availability of fitness equipment, and the availability of childcare services. However, a significant portion of negative reviews center on billing and cancellation issues, with multiple shoppers reporting unauthorized charges that continued after requesting cancellations or freezes on their accounts, as well as difficulty reaching management to resolve disputes.

The recurring complaint involves unexpected charges appearing months after customers believed they had ended their membership or personal training commitments. Several reviewers describe prolonged billing problems and unresponsive customer service when attempting to address overcharges. These billing disputes represent the primary source of dissatisfaction with the chain, contrasting sharply with the operational positives mentioned by satisfied members.

Forget about this chain. Seriously don't waste your energy on their Land O Lakes location. I followed their cancellation steps correctly but management screwed up. They kept charging me for three straight months and basically ghosted me when I tried to fix it. Can't even get a manager on the phone. This place is a disaster. They also messed over my family member. Filing complaints everywhere I can. Stay far away.

The staff is wonderful, there's plenty of equipment available, and childcare services too.

Jennifer R.Feb 5, 2026

Love the team here, tons of machines to choose from, and they even have childcare available.

I enrolled in personal training at $180 per month after they required a two-month commitment. I paid with my credit card and completed sessions in September and October. I informed my trainer at the end of October that I was done and wouldn't be continuing forward. Imagine my shock finding a December charge of $180, and then discovering November was charged too. My call asking for a refund was denied. They promised to stop charging moving forward. But then January hit and I was charged another $180. Working to recover all the overcharges now.

Signed up for personal training sessions at $180 monthly with a two-month minimum using my credit card. I did the program in September and October. When October wrapped up, I told my trainer I was satisfied and wouldn't continue. Then I see a $180 charge hit in December that shocked me, and checking November's statement showed they'd already charged me then too. Called to complain and ask for my money back. Nope. They said they'd stop future charges but that was it. Then January rolls around and boom, another $180 hit my card. Still fighting to get that money returned.

Don't get fooled, this is a major scam operation. They ripped me off and now I'm in a dispute with my financial institution to recover funds. My regular monthly charge should have been $22.24. I requested a freeze on the account, yet charges continued. After the freeze supposedly took effect, they still billed me the normal amount, then the following month charged $74.43 instead. I contacted customer service who claimed they'd credit my account and told me to wait, but the next month another charge went through with no credit applied. I asked for cancellation and was hit with a $30 cancellation charge despite having no contract and never being informed of any such fee. Honestly don't believe they'll honor the cancellation given they ignored their own email confirmation of the original freeze. Plan to escalate this to consumer protection authorities. They're pulling funds straight from my bank account number rather than just the card, which compounds the problem.

Raymond D.Jan 12, 2026

This place is basically a financial scam disguised as a gym. They got me too, and I'm disputing charges with my credit card company right now. My regular bill should've been around $22. Then I asked to freeze my membership, but they kept charging anyway. First they hit me for the normal amount, then the next month it was nearly $75. I called and they promised a credit, but instead of that credit appearing, another charge went through. When I finally demanded cancellation, they slapped me with a $30 termination fee out of nowhere, which was never mentioned before. Given how they ignored their own confirmation email about the freeze, I have zero faith they'll actually stop. I'm filing a complaint with federal authorities. The bank statements show they're pulling directly from my account, not just the card, which makes this even worse.

Honestly the gym setup itself could get a 3, but the terrible customer service and shady business practices really bring it down to 1 star. Started with a $15 month membership, but there's a hidden $90 annual charge they don't disclose upfront. Once you're in, there's basically no way out, and staff is hostile if you push back. The equipment quality is just okay, it's always packed, and they've loaded the place with endless rows of cardio just like Planet Fitness. Worst gym operation I've seen. Avoid.

Marcus T.Jan 12, 2026

The facility itself might deserve a 3, but the customer service and predatory practices drop this to a 1 star. I paid around $15 for a month, but nobody explained the $90 annual fee buried in the fine print. There's literally no escape clause, and the staff was rude about it. The machines are mediocre, the place is constantly crowded, and they've stacked it with rows of cardio gear just like every other big chain. Honestly one of the shadiest operations I've encountered. Skip it.

The monthly rate is very reasonable and the machine variety is solid. But I've got a real concern about equipment placement. The leg machines are aimed at the free weight area. Why position them there instead of toward a wall? Or at least angle them to face another machine so fewer people see you using them. Same thing with treadmills facing the open workout space. Those could easily be turned to face a wall with screens there. Thoughtful layout would give members more discretion during their workouts. I'm pretty puzzled the designers didn't consider these things. On the bright side, staff interactions have consistently been positive. They're welcoming, attentive, and responsive to concerns.

Rebecca G.Jan 2, 2026

The monthly cost is reasonable and there's a good selection of machines to work with. My issue is the placement of certain equipment. The leg machines are positioned facing where people are doing their weights. Why didn't they orient these toward a wall? Alternatively, they could angle them toward other machines so fewer people can see what's happening. Same complaint about the treadmills facing the general workout area instead of a wall where TVs could be set up. Better positioning would let people exercise with more privacy. The staff has always been friendly and helpful though, very responsive to questions. Appreciate that aspect.

William T.Nov 6, 2025

The Park West location is pretty solid overall. One thing that bothers me though is the music selection they sometimes play has explicit language and inappropriate words mixed in. For a gym with members of all ages, that's not cool. Also it could really use some TV screens throughout, and honestly the outdoor area looks kind of rundown and neglected.

Brandon C.Oct 17, 2025

The Hillsboro location is fantastic. They've got amazing classes and instructors like Nanjee, AJ, Em, and Lakisha, plus Jason who does incredible stretching and warm-ups before workouts. The whole environment here beats out any other gym in the area. Best vibes, best crew, best instruction around.

Michelle S.Jul 20, 2025

Went to Krishna's Zumba class at the location nearby today and honestly had a fantastic time. She really knows how to keep the energy high and make it enjoyable. Great atmosphere overall. Definitely recommend checking out the Sunday session around 2:15. You'll have a blast.

Angela M.Jul 20, 2025
