This company uses sneaky extra charges. I had a real problem with their gas policy. I thought I was just being told what they'd charge per gallon if I needed a refill. We talked about it outside the airport and I agreed. I ended up using a quarter tank, but got charged for half a tank instead. Apparently I should've known? That wasn't explained to me clearly at all. It's deceptive and unfair.

My experience with Fox really let me down. I reserved and paid ahead through Priceline, thinking everything would be straightforward and transparent, particularly given Fox's 'no hidden fees' messaging. That promise turned out to be misleading. When I got to the counter, the staff member helped me check in. I made it clear I already have insurance. She asked what company and wrote it down. She also tried to sell me a gas package that I declined. She told me my card would be temporarily held and when I asked if the charge would drop off after returning the vehicle, she confirmed it would. When I got my car back and checked my account, I was billed for insurance I specifically rejected. I disputed it and got told 'you signed the paperwork.' That's unacceptable. I relied on what the employee told me about those being temporary holds, not real charges. This seems dishonest and misleading. Claiming 'no hidden fees' while secretly charging for things customers said no to is wrong and deceptive. I should've checked reviews first, but I get it now why people are upset.

Total waste of time and money. Steer clear of this place and tell your friends to do the same. My flight got delayed 2.5 hours getting into San Diego because we had to get off and switch planes. When we finally showed up, they told us 'you're late, we gave away your reservation.' The attendant made it sound like I was getting a free bump up from a compact to a jeep wrangler to make up for taking my booking. Seemed generous at the time, but then I got charged $288.44 that I never agreed to. When I called to ask about it, they basically said tough luck. If I'd known about the charge upfront, I would've gone somewhere else and gotten what I already paid for. I tried calling their main office and the booking site too. I even talked to a manager when I returned the car and got nowhere. Find another rental company, honestly. This place is a disaster.

Don't book through this company. They seem to operate in a really shady way. I paid $500 for a two-day rental when the actual cost should've been around $100. I reached out to express my frustration and got hit with 'you agreed to the contract.' Not going to spend energy arguing, but seriously, find a different rental place and skip the headache with these folks.
