This is appalling. The Hyatt Ziva in Cancun keeps dolphins in inadequate enclosures. This behavior is unacceptable for a world-class premium hotel chain. Dolphins naturally swim for miles in the ocean and need distance from loud noise and bright lights. They don't belong in tiny pools for tourist entertainment. Remove them immediately.

Had a fantastic time at the Hyatt Centric property over there. Everything about the experience was excellent, from the accommodations to the service.

The chain doesn't enforce accountability for their hotel managers. They can basically operate however they want without facing any real repercussions.

During the sales pitch, the reps weren't transparent and hid important information or twisted the facts. When I later wanted out of the membership and even said they could keep my upfront money, they shuffled me between different departments over and over. One department would promise to call back, another would say it's outside their scope, and eventually they'd transfer me to a line that never picked up. The whole thing felt deceptive and unprofessional. Hyatt needs to step up and take responsibility for how this subsidiary operates.

I want to share what happened with me, though this review might get removed. Hyatt owns a vacation club subsidiary, and there's nowhere proper to voice concerns about them. The sales team wasn't upfront during the process and glossed over key details that should have been clear. When I tried to exit the membership later and offered to let them keep my initial payment, I got bounced from department to department. One group would say they'd contact me back, another would claim it wasn't their job, and the phone line they eventually gave me never got answered. The whole thing felt dishonest and unprofessional. Hyatt really needs to hold their affiliated company accountable for how they treat people.

One issue I ran into is that Hyatt Place uses a separate booking company that sets prices differently from what the actual hotel front desk quotes you. It was pretty frustrating trying to locate the direct phone line for the specific location I wanted to book. The breakfast buffet was okay though, so that was a nice perk.

During my stay at the Secrets Villamil property in Paguera, I went to check out the pool area and was really disappointed. It looked neglected and poorly maintained with visible dirt everywhere, which was totally different from what their website shows. The sun loungers had bird droppings on them and the tables were filthy. The area seemed completely abandoned. By the final couple of days, many dishes at breakfast had chips and cracks in them. The food quality was decent and rooms were fairly tidy, but for a five-star property it didn't match expectations. Spending that much money on deluxe rooms felt like poor value. I did speak with a customer service person before leaving about the pool area condition. I also noticed they don't explain to older visitors that a QR code is needed to find information about entertainment and activities. My spouse dealt with illness during the stay and most of the TV channels were in German rather than English. Overall the experience didn't justify the price point.

This is strictly about their customer service and how they handle complaints. I wanted to buy a gift card for someone to use at one of their European hotels. I couldn't locate that option on their website so I called their support line. The agent told me their gift cards work everywhere globally including European properties. I went ahead and purchased it. When the person tried to use it at a European location they were told it wasn't accepted. I reached back out to customer service with proof of our conversation. They did apologize for the wrong information but refused to issue a refund. Instead they said they would reprimand the employee who gave me bad info and suggested the only option was for the recipients to travel to the Americas to use it. I was really let down. The agent wasn't rude, just given incorrect info, and I didn't like that they threw him under the bus instead of finding a real solution. It's disappointing because their individual properties maintain such high standards, but corporate seems content to take the money and not stand behind their promises.

My recent stay at the Hyatt Place in Washington DC turned out to be really bad. When I arrived there were no sheets or blankets on the bed. The staff wasn't warm when checking me in. The location on such a busy street meant noise all night that made sleeping nearly impossible. I was charged twice at checkout and they won't pick up the phone when I try to fix it. I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

If a zero star rating were possible I'd give it. We held our destination wedding at Dreams Sapphire in Cancun and it was terrible. Their wedding coordinator abandoned the position two weeks before our event, and to make matters worse they'd overbooked the facility. My wife ended up handling wedding coordination duties herself because the resort staff basically didn't show up. The wedding coordinator wasn't even available on weekends, which makes no sense. Room service was painfully slow and the food arrived cold and unappetizing multiple times. The buffet selections were questionable. The resort couldn't meet its guests' basic needs and definitely doesn't deserve a four-star rating. Two stars would be more accurate. There were so many outside vendors mixed in with hotel staff that we never knew who worked for the resort, making us feel like we were being taken advantage of. I have zero interest in returning to this facility.

I've consistently had great stays with Hyatt. The rewards program offers solid value when you compare it to other hotel chains. You get consistent quality across their different properties, which is really nice when traveling to new places. Plus, members at the top tier get complimentary breakfast at many of their non-corporate locations, which is a nice bonus.

I've had excellent experiences staying at Hyatt properties across the globe. All my visits have been trouble-free. There was one minor issue when I stayed in Milan but they handled it nicely.
