Brother Canada Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Brother Canada
Brother Canada products receive overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 1.1 out of 5 from 20 shoppers. Reviewers consistently praise the quality and functionality of Brother hardware itself, noting that printers, sewing machines, and multifunction devices perform adequately as products. However, this approval of equipment is vastly outweighed by severe complaints about customer support. Shoppers report that phone support is unavailable or involves long hold times, chat support disconnects users for typing delays, and the company charges extra fees for technical diagnostics or advanced support tiers. Multiple reviewers describe the support experience as unhelpful, unresponsive, or dismissive of legitimate product issues.
Recurring issues include high ink and toner costs relative to quality, software download problems, and frustration that support quality has deteriorated significantly. Several reviewers mention they will not purchase from Brother Canada again despite acknowledging decent hardware, indicating that poor customer service has become a dealbreaker. The consistent theme across reviews is that while products may function initially, the lack of accessible and responsive support creates a deeply negative overall experience that undermines confidence in the brand.

Sorted by: Most recentWanted information about a replacement model for one of their multifunction printers. Their chatbot is pretty useless and doesn't know how to handle that kind of question. Tried calling their sales line four times today, waited half an hour on hold twice before the connection just died. They show absolutely no interest in helping potential customers. Their technical support has to be even worse based on this experience. The printers themselves are pretty solid but the support and service side of things is completely terrible.
Trying to update my email address on my account but it won't let me do it. Then I tried to email them about this and that's not possible either. Who has hours to spend on this stuff? It tells me everything I need to know about how reliable they are.
Don't bother buying this. The warranty is basically nonexistent. The refill cartridges are decently priced and don't rip you off initially, but once I put in black it worked fine yet the other three colors wouldn't accept. Now the machine is dead. Contacted their support and they won't help, insisting you need to buy something more expensive which apparently isn't even part of the warranty. Even with the extended coverage, they claim they're not responsible for a fifteen month old machine. It's a Quebec company which tells you everything you need to know.
After their last two recommended software updates my printer completely stopped working. You can't speak to a real person and their only option is chat with a bot that's completely useless. I had to delete all their files off my computer and go back to using the original installation disc from when I bought it. Will never purchase from them again.
It's like Brother Canada doesn't even operate as a company. I've made countless attempts to contact them without success. Changed my email and spent hours trying to get them to update it but I can't edit that field in my account even though I can change everything else. What's their deal with needing that much control? My printer is showing an error code that's apparently caused by some cheap plastic component failing. I had an HP for thirteen years without a single problem.
Ordered some labels for my printer that turned out to be the wrong type for what I needed. Went through their return process and got an RMA number, shipped back all the unopened rolls, and have proof they received everything. Still haven't seen my refund though. Now I'm stuck in an endless loop trying to get my money back. Can't even call anyone to sort it out since there's no phone support.
Got a Brother printer that ran okay at first but then Windows 11 broke something. They said they'd swap it for a new one at thirty percent off but then cancelled my order twice. Getting actual people on the phone is impossible since they only do email and chat. Took five days of messaging back and forth to figure out my problem when a phone call would've solved it in an hour or so. I've requested help multiple times but they just won't pick up a phone.
My orders never showed up and there's no way to even contact the company about it.
The printer quality is fine but it's pricey for home use, and the company's support is even worse. There's no phone option to reach them and downloading software takes forever and is really frustrating. I tried calling and got connected to a totally different company. They also wanted me to buy a premium service just to get an updated driver when Windows switched to version 11.
Over the past two decades I've bought four printers from them and the actual machines have been fine. The problem is their ridiculous toner costs. They've added chips to their cartridges making it basically impossible to get cheaper alternatives while they keep jacking up prices. The toner doesn't even produce the number of pages they claim it will. Good luck calling someone at their company because they won't take phone calls. Time for a new printer from someone else for sure.
