What Shoppers Say About catgenie.com
CatGenie.com has received uniformly negative feedback, with all 13 reviews rating the store at just 1.0 out of 5. Shoppers report persistent mechanical failures across their automatic litter boxes, including issues with drainage, dispensing, and other critical components that develop within months or a few years of purchase. Multiple reviewers note that while the product concept is sound, the company's response to these failures is the primary complaint.
Customer service and warranty handling emerge as the most serious problems. Reviewers describe rude and unprofessional support staff who refuse to escalate issues, dispute warranty coverage even when extended protection plans were purchased, and charge repair costs approaching the price of a new unit. One shopper noted being denied warranty service when the unit was "almost" done with warranty despite buying additional protection. Even long-term loyal customers report poor treatment, suggesting inconsistent or inadequate customer support across the board.

Sorted by: Most recentI own 5 of these units, but I'm stuck now because the UK supplier for replacement supplies shut down. I reached out to the US parent company hoping to order what I need, but they shuffled me off to a different European distributor who refused to process my transaction. While I've managed to order from overseas before, this situation is impossible. Since the supplies are required to keep these things running, my 5 units are now basically useless. That's thousands of dollars wasted. I won't be buying from this company or importing from the USA again. This product is worthless without ongoing access to supplies.
I've been buying from this company for about 20 years. Recently I got a bad cartridge that wouldn't work in either of my machines. When I called for a refund, they refused to believe the cartridge was defective and made me follow their whole troubleshooting script. I'm curious how they think they've achieved zero defects in manufacturing. Bottom line, they won't refund unless you waste a bunch of time jumping through hoops. For a cartridge that costs under 20 dollars, it wasn't worth my effort, which I'm sure was exactly their plan. After being a loyal customer for two decades, this approach to customer loyalty feels completely wrong.
Got this product a while back and it worked great once the cats adjusted to it. Then suddenly it stopped working completely - no power, nothing. I understand products fail sometimes, but how a company handles it matters. I tried reaching out but hit some walls. Called after hours and they were closed for election day, which is fine. When I called back, I got sent to voicemail and told there'd be a 1 hour 39 minute wait before someone got back to me. That seemed rough but manageable. Hours went by with no callback. Left another message and still nothing. For something as important as a litter box, this kind of support is really disappointing and leaves customers hanging when they need help most.
