What Shoppers Say About Classmates.com
Classmates.com is rated 1.4 out of 5 by 16 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing dissatisfaction. Recurring complaints center on unwanted subscription charges and aggressive auto-renewal practices, with customers reporting being billed for memberships they did not explicitly sign up for and difficulty obtaining refunds. Many shoppers also cite excessive unsolicited emails that continue even after unsubscribing, inadequate customer service when attempting to resolve billing disputes, and a perception that the site's useful features now require paid upgrades, making the free version largely pointless.
A small minority of reviewers acknowledge the site's historical value for reconnecting with classmates, but current users find the service unhelpful, with outdated profile information and limited fresh connections. Additional frustrations include receiving used merchandise instead of new items, unclear or absent renewal notices, and the overall business model's reliance on trapping users in automatic billing cycles rather than delivering genuine value.

Sorted by: Most recentI purchased what was supposed to be a brand new yearbook but received a used copy that had writing in it, spending $79.96. Then in early 2026 I got charged $96 for a membership I never signed up for. When I asked for a refund they initially said no. I'm working on disputing this and sharing my experience so others don't suffer the same thing.
Classmates really went downhill. If you don't pay for an upgrade, the site becomes completely pointless. I have my own yearbook thankfully, but it used to be convenient browsing photos there. Now they've stripped away anything useful about the service.
They nailed me with an automatic subscription charge. I requested my money back but they refused. Got billed anyway. Customer service was really unhelpful when I tried to deal with this.
This place operates like a harassment outfit that bombards you with nonstop daily emails. Even when you unsubscribe from messages you're getting multiple times a day, they keep sending them anyway.
A complete waste of money trying to connect with classmates for our 50th reunion. All I got were their weekly emails teasing me that people were checking in. But those check-ins? Over 20 years old. No fresh connections at all. I slipped up and didn't cancel the three month auto renewal in time, so I got hit with another $28 charge. That's on me. Then I went to the site and tried to cancel but it never confirmed the cancellation. So I completely removed my account. Guess what, that doesn't stop the renewal. They billed me a third time for $28 even after I thought I'd deleted everything. They do have a phone number and they answer reasonably fast. When I talked to someone, they said the renewal was stopped but no refund. Very poor experience, false advertising, and shady business practices.
They don't notify members that annual membership is about to renew. My membership runs yearly. I honestly thought I'd shut off the automatic renewal ages ago but without any email warning about the upcoming charge, they just billed me today right at the expiration. I switched off autorenewal one more time and searched everywhere for someone to cancel but couldn't find an option. I'm living on a limited budget and have every dollar accounted for. I should have deleted my debit card instead of relying on their autorenewal setting. Plus I went through a really difficult situation in the summer that I'm still dealing with, so I haven't had the chance to pick up extra work to cover unexpected expenses. Does a big company like this care about its customers? We'll find out. The charge appeared today and my membership expires today.
I submitted a yearbook over two years back and it's still sitting there waiting to be posted.
Be warned, this company is bilking people. Look it up on consumer review sites and the web. My yearly charge was $36 and kept automatically renewing without my permission. They hiked it to $96 this year with zero notice and went ahead charging my card the higher amount. I found out about this robbery when reviewing my credit card. No advance warning, no consent from me to raise rates. I cancelled immediately but I'm locked in until 2027 on the higher fee since they charged me without asking. I probably missed something in the terms and now I'm stuck. This whole situation makes me furious and I'm telling everyone else to prepare for the same treatment. Watch out. They're operating like criminals.
Heads up, this operation is ripping off customers. Do your own research online and check consumer sites. My fee started at $36 a year and got automatically renewed without permission. This year they bumped it up to $96 without telling me first and charged my card anyway. I discovered this on my credit card statement completely out of the blue. No advance notice, no request for approval before raising the price. I quit right away but I'm stuck paying until 2027 because they took the extra charge without my okay. I should have read the fine print more carefully but that doesn't make it right. I'm really upset about how Classmates treated me and I'm warning others to watch out. This is predatory behavior.
