Denon Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Denon
Denon is rated 1.1 out of 5 by 20 shoppers, with the vast majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. Common complaints center on product quality issues (earbuds that do not fit properly, receivers that do not connect via cable or Bluetooth), app functionality problems with the Heos platform, and setup requirements that consumers find unnecessarily complicated. Shoppers also report frustration with return policies that require original packaging, subscription price increases following corporate acquisition, shipping delays without tracking clarity, and customer service difficulties including conflicting phone numbers and extended hold times.
While the review sample is limited, the consistency of negative feedback suggests systemic issues across product lines and customer support operations. No positive experiences were highlighted in recent reviews, and shoppers explicitly recommend avoiding Denon products and its associated apps. Return logistics and refund procedures appear to be particular pain points, with at least one customer reporting that the company refuses refunds when original packaging is not available.

Sorted by: Most recentDenon's support is a nightmare. My 6700H stopped outputting from the center speaker. Denon sent a Fedex label right away and I shipped it to a service center in Georgia in November 2023. They fixed the center output after three months, but when I got it back the second subwoofer output was gone. I've been on hold with Denon since March waiting for the next repair. Every call is the same - apologies or deflections depending on who answers. I paid $3,500 for this receiver in 2022 with a three-year warranty that Denon advertises. The warranty was supposed to give me peace of mind, but I feel completely ripped off. I never expected to get let down like this.
Love the features on Denon's receivers, really easy to use, but the build quality is questionable and their support is awful. My receiver died at just 10 months old. After 5 weeks in the shop, it came back fried the second I hooked up my speakers. Had a technician verify all my wiring and equipment were fine. I bought a different receiver to prove the problem wasn't on my end, and it worked perfectly. Denon refused to replace the unit. They promised a new repair label, but after three days nothing happened. When I called back, the rep said he had no record of it, then suddenly found it but said it wasn't processed. I had to argue just to speak with a supervisor, which I was initially told was impossible. The supervisor apologized and swore I'd have a label by end of day. Still waiting. This shouldn't be this complicated. UPDATE: Never got that promised label. Three weeks later, still nothing.
Would give zero stars if allowed. Purchased an expensive Denon stereo system. Three months in, it stopped playing CDs. Since it was still under warranty, I sent it for repairs. They couldn't fix it, so Denon said they'd replace it. And they did replace it - with a used unit! I called repeatedly trying to reach someone and waited weeks for callbacks before I just gave up. That system cost over $600. Total waste. Their support is terrible and I'll never purchase from them again.
I'm done with Denon. Bought a high-end hifi system years ago, and they discontinued free internet radio unless you pay a subscription. Now I have an expensive system that's basically useless without forking over yearly fees. Support blamed a third-party provider, but Denon made that choice. Other brands don't charge for internet radio access.
Bought a Denon AVR and called customer service with a question about settings. The rep wouldn't even let me explain what I needed and just kept telling me to buy an EDID device. A cable technician helped me out on his own time and found the setting myself. The receiver's fine, but I'm never buying Denon again based on their support.
Got an AVR S540BT receiver and it's been a disaster. Denon's website is useless and doesn't help you find firmware updates. They don't seem to care about supporting their products. Will absolutely not buy from them ever again.
Purchased Denon headphones and they sounded amazing at first - best audio I'd ever heard. After three months, one side went silent. They arranged a repair and it's been two months with zero updates from either the repair center or Denon. They just vanished. UPDATE: The headphones finally showed up after months. They don't sound anything like they used to. Since Denon sent them to a third-party repair shop, I'm pretty sure they replaced the parts with cheap substitutes.
Awful experience. Bought the X6700H and even though the serial number shows it's from the post-fix batch, it won't output 4K at 120Hz to my new 8K TV. The cables work fine plugged straight into the TV but fail through the Denon. Their support team was useless over a two-week period. Please avoid this brand. My old Yamaha receiver was miles better.
Never been more let down by a brand! Had a speaker in my cart for days waiting for them to answer a basic question. Finally got a response that made zero sense, but I took the leap anyway. Now the item's gone from my cart and they keep sending me daily notifications. Their main phone line doesn't even work anymore! Can't reach anyone. This is ridiculous!
