What Shoppers Say About Design Toscano
Design Toscano is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 25 shoppers, with a significant divide in customer experience. Long-time customers praise the store's unique selection of dark and dramatic home decor pieces, competitive sale pricing, and occasionally fast delivery, particularly for smaller items. However, the majority of recent reviews describe serious problems with order fulfillment, including items arriving dramatically different from website images, unexplained shipping delays lasting months, packages marked lost without tracking information, poor communication from customer service, and unexpected or excessive return fees. Several shoppers report difficulty getting responses to inquiries and frustration with the company's handling of shipping issues and responsibility disputes.
Recurring complaints center on product discrepancies between website listings and actual shipments, along with the company's apparent reluctance to update incorrect images or provide adequate explanations. Customers also report challenges with payment methods for international orders, lack of proactive communication about delays, and inconsistent policies regarding returns and shipping responsibilities. While a small segment of satisfied customers suggests positive experiences are still possible, the overwhelming pattern of complaints about logistics, communication, and customer service creates significant concerns for potential buyers.

Sorted by: Most recentFirst of six pieces and it does not disappoint. Doves of Peace arrived beautifully.
I was thrilled until I opened the box with my fountain. Unpacking revealed the craftsmanship is terribly disappointing. Getting it back in the box for a return is nearly impossible, and the return shipping cost cuts so far into your refund that it's just not worth bothering. I'd suggest you shop somewhere else. Don't fall for the polished pictures on their site.
Started out really well with this company but things have taken a turn. My first order, a French clock statue, was beautiful and well-crafted. Then I grabbed a French-style barrel table that I enjoy, though I discovered a problem with the drawer. When I reached out, they offered $75 in store credit as their only solution. I used that credit on two statues, but one never shipped because it was on backorder, and the other arrived broken and already glued back together. They promised a refund, but when it hit my account it was only $33 instead of the full $65 price. I contacted customer service and haven't heard back. Based on what I'm seeing in other reviews combined with my own troubles, I don't think I'll be ordering from Design Toscano again.
I've ordered multiple things from this company. Recently I got a dolphin fountain, and I supplied my own pump but it came with a hose built inside the head. I painted the outside gray to make it look more lifelike, but within three months the hose inside started falling apart from dry rot. Since it's a working fountain, you have to basically break the head open to swap out the hose. When I called, they blamed me for modifying their product. I only painted the outside, which has nothing to do with the hose that's tucked inside. They won't stand behind their work, and I'm done with them. Save yourself the aggravation and shop elsewhere.
Poor company with subpar workmanship. I ordered two Rose Table Lamps and both have the same issue. The glass components don't fit properly into the brass mounting hardware. The chimney won't fit over the lightbulb size they recommend. While putting one together, the glass shade wouldn't sit flush on the brass base (which was bent) and broke into pieces when it fell onto a cushioned carpet. This is junk and I'm not satisfied.
I purchased a statue for my husband's birthday and have received the wrong item not once but twice. Between the customer service calls, sending them pictures of their broken merchandise, and dealing with piles of styrofoam packing, I'm starting to feel like I actually work for Design Toscano.
Wish I had read the reviews first. Ordered a grim reaper table for my son's Christmas. Got an email thanking me as a returning customer followed by an order confirmation and $204 charge. The receipt said 5 to 7 days for shipment. A month later, Christmas came and went without the gift arriving. I emailed support and got back a short three-sentence response saying they'd mailed paperwork to my address that I needed to fill out and send back before they'd complete my order. I'd never heard of anything like this and nobody mentioned it when I bought it. I replied asking why my card was charged if the order wasn't complete and asked them to email the forms. Another brief three-sentence message came back saying the charge was just a hold, not permanent, and the mailed paperwork was for identity security purposes and they can't send it by email. Wait, what? Didn't I just get a verified customer thank you email? And my card was definitely charged, not held. Why would they mail me something about my identity that I'm supposed to fill out and return instead of sending me secure documents I can verify?
This is the worst! I placed an order for a mermaid statue meant as a Christmas gift on November 28. The website and order form both promised shipment the week of December 4. Then surprisingly, I got two emails from them asking me to rate my satisfaction. Thinking there might be a delivery problem, I called them on December 11. Only then did they tell me the item is way more delayed and won't go out until early January, well after the holidays. I requested a supervisor but was denied because that person wasn't available. I pushed the issue, saying surely other management would want to help upset clients, but they assured me only one supervisor exists and she's working remotely. After holding to speak with her, there were just empty words about understanding my feelings and no actual offer to fix anything. I'd have appreciated them at minimum waiving the $111 shipping cost. Instead, nothing happened at all.
Absolutely terrible experience with this company. I ordered a mermaid statue as a Christmas present on November 28th. Both the website and my receipt said it would ship the week of December 4th. Then I got two emails asking me to rate the product, which confused me since I hadn't even gotten it. Worried it went to the wrong place, I called on December 11th. That's when I discovered it's now further delayed and won't ship until early January at the soonest, way past Christmas. I asked for a supervisor and was told that person wasn't available. I pushed back saying there must be other managers who'd care about an upset customer, but was told there's only one supervisor and everyone else is working from home. I waited to speak with her, but she didn't offer any solution whatsoever. No apology, just vague comments about understanding my frustration. I expected them to at least drop the $111 shipping fee, but nothing. Zero gesture of goodwill.
Got myself two art deco lamps and a console cabinet. Most retailers charge once they ship the order. With Design Toscano, I was stunned to see my card charged immediately even though everything is on backorder and won't ship until April and May. They charged me before actually sending anything out. I'm going to think twice before putting in another order with this place.
