Design Toscano Reviews

Submitted August 6, 2019. Last year I bought five outdoor garden sculptures from Design Toscano. Four of them are now falling apart, with the greenish-black paint peeling off in large patches. The white base material shows through where the paint has deteriorated. They haven't been sitting in direct sun, getting rained on constantly, exposed to wind, or hit by branches. I kept them covered indoors during winter. I reached out to Design Toscano with these concerns: Does the white material soak up moisture causing paint to chip as it dries? What can I do to stop further deterioration? How do I touch up the paint loss and do they sell touch-up paint? Their response was that the resin is durable and lasts many years. They mentioned acrylic paint fades when hit with UV rays, and that how much wear happens depends on your area and how exposed the pieces are.

Got an alligator statue last Christmas and set it on my screened-in porch here in Florida. Six months of just sitting there and suddenly a crack showed up on its side. Nothing hit it, nobody bothered it, it just spontaneously split. Seems like the material expanded over time and caused the fracture. The maker won't take responsibility or honor their warranty. For the amount I paid, this thing should've held up way better than six months. I'm never buying from this company again.

This company is awful. I wanted to order something as a gift and have it delivered to my daughter's house. They refused, claiming fraud concerns. They said they'd mailed me two verification letters with a code I'd need to give them. The letters didn't show up until two weeks after they claimed they sent them, so clearly that timeline was wrong. Once I emailed them my confirmation, they went silent. I even suggested shipping it to my address so my daughter could pick it up, and they ignored that too. I'm deaf and can only communicate through email, but they weren't willing to work with me. Ignoring someone was easier apparently. My daughter never got her Christmas present. Terrible company. Don't shop here.

I will not ever purchase from Design Toscano again. They couldn't process my $50 Visa payment, so I tried covering the remaining balance with another Visa. If your company can't figure out basic payment processing, maybe it's time to shut down. On top of that, the staff yelled at me. Are you kidding me? The worst, most disrespectful, unhelpful, and indifferent support team I've ever experienced. Don't bother shopping there.

Generally speaking, I'm very happy with my annual purchases from this company. But this year, my order arrived in two shipments spread ten days apart, and the second one was packaged really poorly. The box it came in looked like it had been used many times before, and the top was held together with basically one strip of tape that didn't seal any of the actual seams. I feel lucky the contents made it through intact.
