What Shoppers Say About Mood Fabrics
Mood Fabrics receives predominantly negative ratings, with shoppers citing serious issues across multiple areas of the business. Common complaints include website functionality problems (pages jumping with mouse movement, coupon codes not working), poor customer service (inaccurate shipping information, lack of phone support, refusal to process refunds), slow shipping times (two to three weeks), and high shipping costs relative to order value. Shoppers also report that fabric quality does not match online photos and that sizing runs small. A smaller group of satisfied customers praise the fabric quality itself and note positive in-store experiences, suggesting the core product may be acceptable but operational and service issues significantly damage the overall experience.
Billing discrepancies have been reported, including instances where promised credits for out-of-stock items were not applied correctly and shipping charges that seem disproportionate to purchase size. While Mood Fabrics operates physical retail locations that some customers enjoy visiting, the online ordering and fulfillment experience appears to be a major weakness that deters repeat purchases.

Sorted by: Most recentTerrible experience at checkout. The staff overcharged me by double on a couple of items. When I called to ask about it, the person on the phone was really rude, said too bad that's what they charge, and just hung up on me. I won't be going back and I'm definitely not telling anyone to shop there either.
I ordered some fabric swatches first, picked out what I wanted, then placed my order. Wrong fabric showed up at my door. I sent multiple emails back and forth with your customer service people, including pictures of my swatches compared to what I received. Their response was that I should have ordered swatches to begin with, which made me wonder if anyone even read my emails carefully. They offered store credit and said I could order new swatches, and I'm returning the material hoping for a refund but not super confident. The swatch matched the website photos but the actual fabric was totally different in texture and color. I was also told maybe I'd understand if I had ever actually worked with fabric before, which was pretty rude. But then this week you guys looked at it and messaged saying you found out I did get sent the wrong thing. I really appreciate the apology and that you're sending me the correct fabric now. Thank you.
The fabric selection is decent but the customer service is really bad. I bought a zipper that was obviously broken and didn't work. I sent a picture and a video plus proof of purchase and they moved me to a specialist, which seems like overkill for something so obviously defective. But then I haven't heard back in eight days. It was also a pricey specialty zipper so I'm out twenty bucks. Oh and they also oversell fabrics sometimes and send you only part of what you ordered with fewer yards or missing items without asking. When I complained they said that's just how the business works, which doesn't make sense. It's really frustrating because normally you're ordering fabric for a specific project and can't finish it if you get a partial shipment instead of what you actually ordered.
DO NOT buy a gift card from Mood Fabrics. Seriously. Someone gave me a 200 dollar electronic card that never arrived. The buyer had to call and email repeatedly for several weeks just to get some kind of answer, and all they got was a 300 dollar store credit as a fix. I went to the store to use it and the cashier said she couldn't find it in the system. She wasn't helpful at all, just looked at me like I was speaking a different language. I ended up buying fabric with cash instead. I'm taking my money somewhere else from now on.
I placed an order September 6 and got confirmation it was received but after that nothing happened. I figured maybe it was COVID delays and waited. Still no shipping confirmation after 10 days. When I checked my account, tracking info just said not available. So I reached out to customer service and surprise, they told me the package would arrive in two days. It did show up but the two separate cuts of fabric, each over three yards, were just tossed in the box all wrinkled and damaged with small holes in both pieces. Going back and forth with customer service was exhausting and didn't help. They never explained anything and basically told me to accept their mistake as my loss. One of the fabrics was supposed to be Italian matte jersey but it came wrinkled and looked like it came from a discount bin somewhere in a warehouse. There are plenty of other places to buy fabric online that are way better than this. Mood is great at marketing, the site looks super luxe, but they clearly don't know how to handle fabric or take care of customers.
I placed two orders on September 5 and it's now two weeks later with no packages received. Both still show as processing. I've gotten at least three emails saying they oversold certain fabrics and will need to send me less than I ordered. Okay, fine, I can deal with that. But each email promised they'd ship out the next day after I replied. I replied to all of them. Nothing shipped. I've called customer service seven different times during their hours and no matter what option I choose, the line hangs up on me. I really needed this fabric and I'm super let down by how unprofessional they are, all their broken promises, and their total lack of customer service. I can't recommend them and I'm honestly thinking about filing a fraud dispute on my credit card.
I love shopping at the Mood location in NYC since I sew regularly and they're incredible there. So I decided to order something online on March 14th and it arrived on March 19th. I was super pumped to open it up and get to work. When I did, the fabric was severely damaged. I called and talked to Michael, sent photos within an hour. He told me I'd get a full refund of $29.70. But then I didn't get that refund until June 20th, after sending 24 emails and making tons of calls. Helen from Mood eventually gave me $20.97 in credit instead, saying I had to pay for shipping and handling plus the cost of a zipper that came with it for $1.71. I haven't heard from Helen since that credit was applied. I'm really disappointed because I expected better from Mood, especially after they admitted they shipped me damaged goods and Michael promised me the full refund. They kept saying nothing but just waited it out, hoping I'd go away. This whole thing from March through June has been frustrating and I'm not a happy customer.
Really pleased with the fabric quality and excellent customer service here. The chat assistant that pops up is super helpful with questions about fabric types and what's available. All the fabrics I've bought have been beautiful with great quality to them.
Really impressed with both the fabric quality and how your team helped me out. The live chat assistant was super knowledgeable and helpful answering my questions about different fabric options and what was in stock. Every single fabric I've ordered from you has been absolutely gorgeous and really well made.
