What Shoppers Say About Six Flags
Six Flags receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with most citing operational and service failures that significantly diminish the experience. Common complaints include a high percentage of rides being non-operational (sometimes only 10% of advertised attractions working), extremely long wait times even with premium Flash Pass options ($400 for access to just two rides), poor customer service responsiveness, and misleading online booking systems (such as allowing water park pass purchases when facilities are closed). Additional frustrations involve confusing meal passes, high prices relative to the limited functioning attractions, unfriendly staff, and poor facility maintenance.
While a small minority of shoppers report that their children enjoyed the rides themselves, they note this enjoyment does not offset the high costs, operational issues, and weak customer service. One reviewer acknowledged that Six Flags can be entertaining for the price point, though it falls short compared to Disney or Universal. The consistently low ratings reflect widespread disappointment with both the park's reliability and the value proposition, suggesting systemic management and maintenance challenges rather than isolated incidents.

Sorted by: Most recentMy daughter and I decided to try the flash pass option for the first time. The downside is you can only book one ride at a time. We reserved access for the Titan, and it took nearly two and a half hours just to get the confirmation code sent to us. Then we spent an additional 45 minutes waiting in the express line! For $400, we only got on two rides in five hours total. I will never visit any Six Flags location again.
I took my daughter for spring break wanting to relive the excitement I had as a kid at this place. Instead of magical thrills, we experienced what felt like a complete operational meltdown. Out of all the rides and attractions advertised, only about six of them were actually working. That's maybe 10% of what they claim to offer, yet they charge full price. It's wrong to take families' full payment during peak seasons like spring break when the park clearly isn't ready. We spent way more time looking at closed attractions than actually riding anything. The whole place felt abandoned. Without the main attractions running, there's just nothing to do but walk around in the heat and buy overpriced food. As someone who'd been a loyal customer for years, I felt betrayed by how unprepared they were.
You can definitely have fun at a Six Flags park, but their management leaves a lot to be desired. Equipment breaks down constantly and the ride operators aren't great about keeping people informed. It doesn't measure up to what Disney or Universal provide, but it's still entertaining for the price.
While trying to renew my gold pass, I accidentally ordered what they call a scare package online. I tried reaching guest services multiple times and eventually got transferred to speak with someone else. They asked for my order number, which I hadn't gotten yet, but I could see the charge of $113.84 on my credit card. The representative told me it's not refundable and hung up on me when I mentioned disputing it with my credit card company. The customer service was absolutely rude and inappropriate. I'm warning others to avoid ordering anything like this by mistake. This company makes promises they don't keep. Most attractions are closed or broken, and the $99 pass isn't worth what they claim. Their employees really need training on how to treat customers. It's frustrating.
I'm absolutely furious about my experience. I purchased add-on water park passes online along with general admission tickets, and they were supposed to be good for a specific day. When I got to the park, I learned the water park had been closed the entire week. The staff mentioned that yes, the website was allowing people to book it but they'd corrected the issue since then. They suggested I head to Guest Services to get my money back for the add-on. Guest Services refused to refund me, claiming that because I'd bought trip insurance during checkout, they were unable to process any refunds. They told me to contact the insurance company and said if insurance didn't help, the park definitely would. Insurance denied my claim because website glitches aren't covered. I reached out to the company's Guest Relations department. They actually acknowledged the website malfunction and confirmed insurance wouldn't cover it, but then said Six Flags has a blanket policy of no refunds for anything under any circumstances. Being local with two kids in school, this was really disappointing.
My kids absolutely had a blast on the rides and were super happy the whole time. That said, the prices are way too high for what you get. Staff weren't friendly or willing to help, the meal pass system was confusing, and overall the park looked shabby. There's barely any shade anywhere, and your indoor dining choices are super limited. We bought fast pass tickets thinking it'd be packed during summer break, but it turned out to be pretty empty, so that was a waste of money. A lot of the attractions stayed closed all day, and others kept opening and closing randomly. Even though my children enjoyed themselves, we won't be returning because it's just too costly. Disney and Universal Studios provide way more value for families like ours.
My online order had problems before our visit. Customer service told me to take it up with the trip insurance I'd purchased, so I contacted them and they were useless. Then insurance said only the Guest Relations team could help. Guest Relations never responded to any of my calls. I'm out $135 that nobody would address, and we're definitely not returning.
Don't get the membership passes if you can avoid it. They'll tell you when you show up that your passes won't work and you'll need to pay for an upgrade, which they'll happily walk you through. Then you'll end up getting charged twice!! When you call asking for a refund, they claim they can't help or can't locate the duplicate charges. Yet somehow they have no problem collecting both payments every month.
What a terrible day! We spent hours at the park and only managed to get on three rides the entire time. Lake Compounce would have been such a better choice. I was really let down by how little we got to experience.
