What Shoppers Say About Steelcase
Steelcase shoppers are deeply divided. Those satisfied with their purchases praise the durability and ergonomic quality of the chairs, noting they hold up better than cheaper alternatives and represent a solid long-term investment. Positive reviewers also highlight responsive customer support when issues arise. However, a significant portion of customers report serious frustrations with warranty claims, customer service responsiveness, and product defects. Common complaints include receiving wrong parts, manufacturing issues like faulty gas springs, extended wait times for resolution, and support representatives allegedly refusing to escalate issues or honor warranty coverage. The price point (typically over one thousand dollars) amplifies dissatisfaction when these problems occur.
The polarized feedback suggests that experience quality depends heavily on whether customers encounter manufacturing or fulfillment problems and how effectively support handles those situations. Those who receive correct products without defects tend to be very satisfied, while those requiring warranty service or dealing with shipping errors report feeling dismissed and undervalued despite the premium pricing.

Sorted by: Most recentTerrible customer support. I ordered a chair straight from the company and after just a few months, a screw came loose. I've been trying to file a warranty claim and haven't gotten any replies. It's really disappointing for a chair that costs over a thousand dollars. Won't be shopping with them again.
Stay away from this company! Don't buy from them! I got a Silq chair in early August for a lot of money and it took forever to arrive. When I started putting it together, I found out they sent the wrong footrest and the gas spring was way too small and dragged on the floor. I reached out to support right away with pictures, but then had to wait weeks for someone to come fix it. When the technician finally showed up, he clearly wasn't briefed on the issue and didn't have the right parts, so he left without doing anything. Almost three months later and I still can't use the chair. After another month, a service person came back but brought the wrong part again. He tried to tape up the wrong gas spring to make it work, which didn't help. The chair still hits the floor when you sit on it. I've asked customer service repeatedly to let me return it since I've had no place to sit for months now with no real help.
Been using my Steelcase chair for about a year and it's held up great. The support team was super helpful when I needed them and resolved my questions quickly. I'd definitely buy from them again because other chairs I've had at half the price started falling apart way sooner. Great company to work with.
Worst experience with this company. They refuse to honor their warranty and push back when you ask for a manager. I called and spoke with a rep from their online team who was incredibly dismissive and refused to escalate my case. At these price points, you'd expect way better service and quality. Just save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere.
Best investment I made for my office. Last year I grabbed a Steelcase chair after having a terrible experience with a cheap 100 dollar chair from another brand that gave me serious back pain. I'm really glad I made this choice. Sure, it costs more, but I looked at tons of options under 200 and nothing comes close. This chair has made a huge difference in my comfort and support. It's one of those things where you really do get what you pay for, and this one has been worth every cent.
Love my new chair! Just bought one and I'm super happy with how it looks and how well it fits in my workspace. The whole experience has been great and I'm really pleased with this purchase.
Really pleased with my Steelcase purchase! I bought a chair for my home office and couldn't be happier. The person helping me pick out the right model was knowledgeable, took their time, and really listened to what I needed. It showed up fast and was simple to put together. The build quality is excellent and it's super comfy to sit in all day. What I really appreciate about Steelcase is how much they care about the environment. They use sustainable materials and make products meant to last for years instead of getting thrown away. That matters to me. If you're shopping for quality office furniture, I'd absolutely recommend them. You get great customer support, products that are built to last, and a company that actually cares about doing things right.
This company operates in a sketchy and dishonest way for such a large corporation. They act more like some shady online shop. Before I bought, they told me I could return the office chair and get the restocking fee waived if I wasn't happy. So I got their Gesture chair, but it honestly felt really cheap compared to other high-end brands like Herman Miller or Haworth. Plus it wasn't comfortable for the price. I tried to return it but they ghosted me until after the two-week window passed. I had to show them screenshots proving I'd been asking to return it that whole time before they'd budge. Even then, they still charged a 20% restocking fee that was almost 400 bucks. We reminded them they'd said the fee would be waived and they refused. Then they changed their website policy to say no restocking fee applies to new orders. When we pointed out this, they said our purchase was before the policy change. They keep adding new clauses to confuse things.
Absolutely terrible! Please don't do this. I spent over 1000 Euros on a fully customized Gesture chair and got a lopsided one that doesn't match the specifications. Their materials say the seat height should be about 16 inches but mine was actually around 19 inches. They even say it fits people starting at around 5 feet tall, which is ridiculous. I'm about 5 foot 9 and at the lowest setting my feet weren't even at a right angle. To make it worse, the rep I talked to made me feel stupid like I didn't know how to measure, saying my tape measurements didn't matter compared to their ISO standards. They completely ignored the fact that the chair was also crooked, even though I mentioned it twice. I'm pretty sure my chair was defective. It was way too tall and tilted to one side, but instead of owning up to it and replacing it, the support person just talked down to me and made me feel bad. I've owned plenty of chairs in my life, expensive and cheap, and none of them had measurements off by 3 inches. This company is absolutely horrible.
Way overpriced for what you get. Spent around 400 on a Series 1 with headrest but they never sent the headrest and wouldn't respond. Even worse, the actual chair feels cheap and flimsy for the price. It's mostly plastic, including the base. The tilt barely works - it's just on or off. Put a little pressure on the armrest and it flexes. You can get a Noblechair for 300 that's way better quality. Skip this brand entirely. It's really not worth it. After a month they finally sent the headrest, but not before sending someone to my place like I was trying to scam them. No apology either, just suspicion. On top of that, the headrest they sent didn't even have the correct screws. For 400, this is unacceptable.
