Megabus Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Megabus
Megabus receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with the vast majority reporting serious operational and service failures. Recurring complaints center on missed or severely delayed buses that cause passengers to miss flights and connections, filthy and poorly maintained vehicles with broken amenities and unpleasant odors, drivers who are dismissive or disrespectful toward passengers, and customer service representatives who are unhelpful and unable to answer basic questions. Several reviewers describe the experience as among the worst transportation they have encountered.
The rare positive review highlights a professional and friendly driver as an exception, suggesting that occasional standout staff members exist but cannot be relied upon. Shoppers consistently advise against using Megabus due to the combination of unreliable scheduling, vehicle maintenance issues, and poor customer treatment. The service appears to struggle across multiple areas: operational punctuality, fleet condition, driver conduct, and customer support responsiveness.

Sorted by: Most recentWouldn't give it even 1 star if I could go lower. Scheduled a 4am bus out of Kingston with a flight from Toronto Pearson at 11am. We planned to get there 5 hours early since bus times are limited. The morning came and we waited at the station for 2.5 hours with no driver showing up. Between the $250 in tickets and the $480 Uber ride to actually make our flight, this was a financial nightmare. When we reached out about the no-show and zero communication, Megabus basically said sorry and threw a $10 credit our way total for the whole group. Ten dollars. Not ten each, just ten period. That was their apology for making us nearly miss our flight. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Absolutely avoid them.
Hands down the worst trip we've ever taken. My spouse and our two small kids booked round-trip from Stewart to Manhattan, plus a day excursion to DC and back. The bus reeked of marijuana and had disgusting sticky seats plus broken belts. The temperature was over 100 degrees and when we asked the driver to open things up for air, she actually turned off the AC. Getting in line was total chaos with people cutting in and hustle men on the street trying to convince passengers the buses were full. There were no staff around to manage anything or help direct people. This is genuinely the worst coach service around.
The people working customer service at Megabus seem completely clueless. They struggle with answering straightforward questions. If you already know your route and destination, just book online and skip dealing with them entirely.
I need to file a complaint about my Victoria to Leeds trip. The driver treated me disrespectfully and wouldn't allow me to purchase water or food from the shop. I went seven hours without eating or drinking anything, which was incredibly frustrating and unacceptable. We were made to feel like we didn't deserve basic human treatment. This behavior is completely unacceptable.
Huge props to the driver on my NC to DC route. His professionalism, genuine friendliness, and customer care were outstanding and really stood out. Megabus should be proud to have drivers like him on staff. Every single person traveling that day had nothing but good things to say about him. This is the kind of experience that keeps customers coming back and builds real loyalty.
