Bought three Yubico 5C NFC keys thinking they'd be perfect for securing my password manager on my iPhone 12 Pro and MacBook Pro. Both devices had connection issues. They registered fine with my password manager but then refused to authenticate. Luckily I had my recovery phrase written down on paper or I'd have been locked out completely. I've since removed them from everywhere. That 216 euros went straight down the drain for nothing but frustration and zero added safety.

They advertise Mac OS support but honestly it's not real. If you want to use a key as a security layer to sign into your Mac, forget it. You can set it up as a PIV pin, but that won't work with disk encryption turned on because the key can't unlock the disk in the first place. Their documentation doesn't explain any of this. When I asked support about it, they basically said 'use it for something else instead.' The documentation is misleading and support isn't helpful.

Got a couple of C NFC keys a while back. The USB C side works fine but NFC has been a real hassle. Initially I could get it to work on my iPhones but when I changed my Apple ID password, both phones stopped recognizing them completely. Had to use my iPad to remove them so I could set up two factor authentication on my phone. After tons of back and forth with their team they sent replacement keys under warranty. But the first replacement got rejected by my iPhone with an error message. The second try it accepted it but that's not confidence inspiring. Same problem happened with the other replacement key before it finally worked. Both needed to be activated on the iPad first which adds another step. I'd prefer their USB C and Lightning combo keys but they're priced way too high. The keys do offer solid protection for Apple accounts if you skip the password manager approach but that limits what you can use them for. Places like PayPal UK require a QR code which the C NFC keys can't provide. Their cheapest option ends up being practically useless.

Customer service left me disappointed and delivery was way too slow. I placed an order three days before they said it finally showed up in their system. Their whole fulfillment operation looks outdated and needs a major upgrade. In 2024 there's no reason an order should sit around for three days before being processed.

Good idea behind this product but definitely do your homework before you buy. I'm specifically talking about the Yubikey 5Ci on an iPhone 14Pro running IOS 17.1. This model doesn't have NFC capability so you have to physically plug it into the lightning port. Problem is it won't connect if you're using any kind of case, even a thin Apple case with just a millimeter or two of thickness. Having to remove your case every time you want to use it makes the whole thing impractical. This limitation isn't obvious when you're purchasing it. On top of that most UK banks and financial apps don't support these keys yet anyway. If you're thinking about getting one, verify first that the services you actually use will work with it. I bought two of these through a retailer and got my money back. Yubico was helpful to a point but their support documentation is confusing with tons of different key types and device options mixed together. The core concept is good and maybe improvements will come in the future.

This is my third purchase from this outfit and it's been a mess every time. The first one seemed straightforward but after getting a USB C version for my Android it's been an hour of frustration and I still can't figure out how to set it up and transfer my login info from my other keys. Why can't they make this as simple as copying info from one device to another like we used to do with cassettes? A single click or simple program that mirrors settings from one key to the next would be way better than all these confusing steps they want you to follow.

I'm a UK customer who ordered from Yubico and got hit with a EUR15 shipping charge. Come to find out, Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery actually costs them GBP3.30 for an 80g package according to their own label. That's only EUR3.75, nowhere near the EUR15 they charged me. They're clearly marking up shipping costs way too much.

Really impressed with the YubiKey overall. The construction is excellent and it's held up great over time. Both USB and NFC options are fast and dependable. Grabbed some additional keys during a Cloudflare promotion and they arrived incredibly quickly all the way from California. These folks actually care about their customers and it shows in their service.

Placed an order in late October and it's now almost January with nothing shipped. Tried reaching out to the company multiple times but got absolutely no response whatsoever. Can't find the item anywhere else either. Starting to wonder if they're dealing with major supply problems or if this company even exists since they're clearly happy taking payment without delivering anything.

I placed an order in mid October and got a tracking number from UPS. That was several weeks ago and since then total silence. Will post an update if my order ever shows up.

Used the key for two months and then it stopped working. Sent four emails requesting help or a replacement and got nothing but the same generic response every time.

Terrible customer service, pretty much non-existent throughout the whole experience. The entire buying process is incredibly difficult and unhelpful. I wanted to spend fifteen minutes and buy these keys but I'm now two days in and still haven't completed the purchase because of useless assistance from Yubico and their so-called UK resellers. The resellers won't help you directly they just point you somewhere else. Dealing with this company will give you a serious headache. They're unhelpful, rude, waste your time, and act like they're doing you a favor.

I've been using different YubiKey models since 2014 and haven't had any complaints. The only reason I've replaced any is because I misplaced them or wanted newer capabilities like the USB C version or NFC functionality. They're clearly the best in the business for a good reason.

The key won't work with my Huawei phone through NFC and it's not compatible with my Kraken account either. Spent a full week trying to get it set up and ended up giving up. Going to send it back.

Ordered two yubikey units back in May and paid extra for faster shipping. Still haven't received them. I've reached out through social media and email but haven't made any progress getting answers.
