- The discount may not combine with other ongoing promotions; confirm the terms of use before checkout.
Uhaul Savings Hacks
Rental rates fluctuate based on demand. Booking on weekdays or during slower seasons typically results in lower base prices, making your code or discount more valuable.
One-way rentals may be cheaper depending on your route and current market conditions. Always check both options before applying a promo code.
If you are a U-Haul loyalty member or have a referral code, verify whether it can be combined with other promotions on your reservation.
Promo codes typically apply to the rental base rate. Review whether insurance, dollies, blankets, and other equipment have separate discounts before finalizing your order.
Uhaul Shipping Policy
U-Haul is primarily a rental and service-based business rather than a shipping retailer, so traditional shipping thresholds do not apply. For luggage and travel accessories ordered online, check the product page for delivery details and any applicable charges that may vary by location and item type.
Uhaul Returns & Refund Policy
Return policies for rental equipment and accessories vary by product category and purchase type. Review the specific return or cancellation terms for your rental reservation or item purchase on the U-Haul website, or contact their customer service team for clarification on your options.

Uhaul Reviews
U-Haul is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 22 shoppers, with reviews showing a stark divide: 41 percent give five stars while 55 percent give one star. Shoppers who had positive experiences appreciate the rental availability, but those dissatisfied cite serious operational issues. The most frequent complaints involve misleading truck dimensions (20-foot trucks measured at only 16 feet, 15-foot trucks at 12 feet), inconsistent availability with last-minute location changes, unresponsive customer service, and unexpected fee increases at checkout. Additional concerns include vehicle condition issues, safety concerns at some locations, and reservation cancellations without adequate alternatives.
Beyond logistics problems, reviewers report specific incidents of vehicle damage caused by staff negligence, confusing mobile app experiences, and extended check-in processes. Third-party franchise locations appear to contribute to inconsistent service quality. The combination of advertised versus actual truck capacity, poor communication about reservation changes, and unexplained charges creates frustration especially when customers book well in advance for major moves like cross-country relocations. Negative experiences often involve compounding failures rather than isolated issues.
Done with this company. They advertise 20 foot trucks that are actually only 16 feet - I went to 21 different locations and measured them myself by popping open the backs. The space above the cab is only 19 and a half feet, the rest is just sixteen feet. Same thing with the 15 foot trucks, they're really only twelve feet. Plus they advertise that trailers with electric brakes need a controller and to call them, but they refuse to install controllers in their trucks. That's false advertising right there, and I've got pictures to prove it. Between the electric brake controller scam and the undersized trucks, there's way too much dishonesty. Prices have more than doubled since four years ago for trucks that were clearly bought before inflation hit, but they're using inflation as an excuse. I drove my truck back an hour after renting it and I'm never going back to U-Haul. Budget's a better option.
Customer service team seems pretty understaffed. Trying to make any changes to your reservation is a total headache and takes forever dealing with reps.
Totally unreliable and horrible. Had my cross-country house closing lined up and made the reservation four weeks ahead. Then the night before moving, boom, I get an email saying I need to drive 35 miles to pick up at a different location. Get there and the manager literally backed a trailer into my truck and destroyed it. My whole reservation falls through. No trucks available. I'm stuck waiting two days for another one, meaning I've got three days to get from North Carolina to California. This kind of mess is seriously dangerous.
Absolutely terrible company with zero reliability. I reserved a truck a month ahead for a cross-country house closing. Then the night before, I get an email saying I have to drive 35 miles to a different location. Get there and find out the manager wrecked the truck by backing a trailer into it. My reservation's gone. No other trucks available. Now I'm stuck waiting two days for another one, which gives me barely three days to drive across the country from North Carolina to California. This kind of incompetence is dangerous.
Rented through a third-party location that was absolutely terrible. The app was confusing and a rep had to walk me through the whole check-in for over an hour. My reservation got switched around three different times. The place itself felt unsafe, and they had a large firearm visible behind the counter. The truck itself was disgusting - reeked of pot with marijuana residue all over the seats, brownie crumbs and garbage everywhere, and barely a quarter tank of gas. Worst rental experience I've had.
The guy at the rental counter randomly doubled my charges. I should've paid around eighty bucks for the truck and mileage, but instead I'm looking at nearly one hundred fifty in fees I was never told about and didn't agree to. How is that even allowed?
Like so many others, my actual bill never matched what I originally reserved. There's always some extra charge or explanation they use to get more money out of you, knowing you're locked in at the last second. They've become greedy and prey on people during vulnerable times. Honestly should rename themselves as a rip-off company.
Like many people, I never end up paying the original quoted price. They always tack on surprise fees or come up with reasons to charge more, especially when they know you're stuck last minute. The company's turned into a cash grab that exploits people in tough moving situations. Should rebrand as a fleecing service instead.
After U-Haul took over the storage facility in Minneapolis around a year ago, things really went downhill. Snow isn't cleared properly in the drive area and parking lot. The building went from spotless to filthy and disgusting. The worst part is now there's a massive mouse problem in my storage unit. Before U-Haul owned it, I never saw a single mouse in five years. Now rodents have destroyed items in my locker. Other customers tell me the same story - they've got mice now and didn't before, and some have even spotted rats. I'm moving my stuff out once the weather gets better.
Most of the staff tries their best, and I can only speak about the Springfield location off South Campbell. But when the manager in charge is causing problems and has power to change whatever she wants, it's a real issue. My advice: avoid dealing with Tammy. I've complained to corporate multiple times about her stealing from customers. I pay for 24 7 access but keep getting locked out. Make sure you watch that carefully because Tammy won't give refunds even when she's clearly at fault. When I go in, I refuse to pay her and collect all my receipts. She blames her mistakes on other employees, but I've been going there over a year and she's the only one messing with my account on purpose. Every time I call her out on her behavior, she retaliates. The rest of the team is fine, just ask for anyone but her. It's pretty sad that corporate listens to Tammy over all the customers complaining about her, especially considering how poorly she treats other employees too.
My car got totaled when hit by a U-Haul truck. Their company was completely unhelpful with the situation. Would never recommend or use them again.
They consistently don't have the vehicle you need at the location you booked. I've had to switch truck sizes and pick from different spots multiple times.
Went to a location in Montreal and had an absolutely awful experience. Staff was rude, swore at me, and made threats. One of the managers even called police with false claims against me. Now I'm dealing with legal action against them. Stay away from this place if you can - they're just terrible all around.
Started out really bad and I was ready to dispute the charge through my bank, which I'd never done before. But then they actually stepped up and fixed everything quickly. Really turned things around and now I feel confident renting from them again.
