American Greetings Savings Hacks

Shop holiday seasons off-peak

Party supplies and greeting cards often go on clearance shortly after major holidays. Buying cards and decorations in the weeks following Christmas, Easter, or Halloween can yield better savings than purchasing close to the event date.

Stack coupon codes with sales

Check RetailCoupons.com regularly to find offers that may work together with existing store sales. Combining a percentage-off code with a promotion on a specific product category can maximize your savings.

Buy bulk for party planning

Ordering party supplies in larger quantities often qualifies you for better discounts. If you plan multiple events or celebrations throughout the year, consolidating purchases into fewer orders may unlock additional savings.

Subscribe to notifications

Check back to RetailCoupons.com often, as American Greetings offers rotate in regularly from its affiliate programs. Setting a regular reminder to visit ensures you catch new deals before they expire.

American Greetings Shipping Policy

American Greetings typically offers standard shipping options for orders, though specific rates and delivery timeframes vary based on item type and destination. Review the shipping details at checkout to understand the cost and expected delivery window for your order. Shoppers should also check whether certain promotions include free or discounted shipping benefits.

American Greetings Returns & Refund Policy

American Greetings generally accepts returns within a reasonable window for unused items in original condition, though specific return policies and timeframes should be reviewed on the store's website or customer service pages. Greeting cards and seasonal items may have different return eligibility than other products, so confirm the policy for your purchase category. Contact customer service with questions about your specific order before initiating a return.

American Greetings is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 18 shoppers, with the overwhelming majority reporting serious problems. Reviewers report unauthorized charges, refusal to issue refunds even after cancellation, failed delivery of digital cards and gift cards, and unresponsive customer service. Several shoppers characterize the company as a scam and warn others to avoid it entirely. The few positive aspects mentioned in reviews are overshadowed by complaints about charge quality, missing advertised features like music playback, and billing disputes.

Common grievances include charges appearing on accounts without customer authorization, membership refund denials despite customer requests, and a pattern of keeping money for undelivered or failed services. Shoppers also note that physical greeting cards of comparable quality are available at local retailers for significantly less money. The company's customer service is frequently cited as unhelpful or dismissive when addressing billing and delivery issues.

This organization has zero interest in keeping customers satisfied and will rip you off on membership costs. The site doesn't have common names available for sending digital cards, and you're stuck without a way to add them yourself. Right after I renewed, I asked for my money back. They said no way, claiming they never give refunds on memberships. But I never saw anything stating that on their website.

I've been using this service for quite a while now. There have been technical issues before, but the wide range of options usually made it worth sticking with them. They recently introduced a new create your own card feature that seemed promising at first. The first time I sent my custom card to a large group, almost 27 of them came back as undelivered even though I know those people would have opened them. I emailed about it and they asked me to try some troubleshooting steps and resend. I did all that, but they all bounced back again. The next time I tried sending to a group, 22 more got rejected. I called this time and got a friendly rep, but she didn't have any real solutions and said she'd escalate it to their technical team. Based on what happened, I think the problem is with sending one card to multiple people at once or with the whole create a card system. I've told them this. Unfortunately nothing improved, so I quit using that feature. This whole situation has been incredibly annoying, and I'm running out of options. I'm seriously thinking about canceling my subscription and finding a different service.

This company charged my card even though I never even created an account with them. Nobody in my household had visited their website that I'm aware of, but there was a twenty two pound charge on my bank statement. How did they pull this off? This is a scam and you should avoid them completely.

Christopher V.Jun 27, 2025

This is an internet scam, plain and simple. I wish I could rate them zero. Don't buy anything from this outfit. Don't put any trust in this outfit. A buddy of mine wasn't able to receive a fifty dollar gift I sent to them. The money was supposed to get returned after thirty days, but instead the company kept it and pulled another five bucks from their bank account without permission for reasons nobody explained. Even though my friend emailed customer support with proof like screenshots and documentation, they did absolutely nothing. American Greetings used to seem legitimate, but their internet business is basically a ripoff scheme. Check out all the other reviews and you'll see they're all telling you the exact same story. Pick a different company.

Total rip off. You can grab the same cards at your local store for eight bucks each, and they're much better quality. The ones here are extremely cheaply made, and despite being labeled with special music features, none of them actually play anything. I'm really disappointed.

Rebecca M.Feb 27, 2025

If possible, I'd rate this lower than one star because they're running a scam. Stay far away from this outfit. I used their seven day trial and canceled it, yet they turned around and charged me 34.99 in US dollars and 50 in Canadian funds. When I called asking for my money back, the rep claimed I didn't give them enough notice, even though I had sent multiple emails with no replies. Don't do business with these people.

William G.Feb 13, 2025

These folks are absolutely terrible! Do not let them fool you into handing over your credit card. They will drain your account even after you turn off automatic billing. I contacted my credit card company and complained to them several times and still got nowhere with getting the charges reversed or stopping the unauthorized charges. I'm making complaints everywhere I possibly can to warn everyone that this company is dishonest.

Marcus T.Feb 7, 2025

Watch out for what they call a trial membership. I canceled mine on the required date early in the morning, but they still charged me almost thirty dollars later that same day. When I contacted their support team, nothing happened for a week. When they finally responded, they just told me to check out their terms. I tried reaching them again and got the exact same unhelpful message. Don't fall for the hype about the trial because it's basically a trap. Also, the greeting cards themselves aren't very good quality.

Michelle C.Jan 17, 2025

Awful support team and no desire to keep customers coming back. I wanted to use their cards to reach out to my professional network during the holidays like I'd successfully done twice before. When I went to upload my contacts to send out the cards, they'd gotten rid of that function. Right away I asked for a refund and explained why. A support person emailed back saying they never issue refunds. I reached back out explaining I'd asked to close my account, they hadn't closed it, I got nothing for my money, and I don't want anything to do with them. They told me again they don't refund under any circumstance, but said they'd shut everything down immediately. From reading other people's feedback, their support is terrible and their tools don't come close to matching other sites that offer the same thing. I was only out a little under ten dollars but apparently it didn't matter to them to try keeping me as a customer. I'm done with them forever.

Patricia N.Oct 28, 2024

Absolute bait and switch operation. They won't return your money or stop the charges even when you follow every instruction they give you to cancel before the trial ends on day seven. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEY TELL YOU! This company doesn't deserve your trust! Nothing authentic about this place! Keep your distance!

Steven E.Oct 17, 2024

This company is heading toward collapse soon! The website is terrible with no way to update your membership. I phoned them and the representative barely understood English. He told me to renew through the site. I said it multiple times and tried renewing online many times without success. The rep wouldn't make the effort to take down my credit card info over the phone. Instead he argued with me!

Karen D.Jan 5, 2024

Very expensive mistake signing up here. I took advantage of a free trial that was advertised on their homepage. When a bunch of the cards I tried to send didn't make it to people, I stopped using the trial. They went ahead and charged me for an entire year and then rejected my request for a refund. Be careful about how they operate.

Laura S.Aug 14, 2023

The website has completely stopped working for me. I've paid to be a member since 2017 and have sent hundreds of greetings and gift cards through them without problems. Two days back, the whole thing just fell apart. On Saturday I tried to send a birthday card to a relative but the site kept making me log back in despite already being logged in. Every attempt just gave me a blank screen until I gave up and went elsewhere. Just now the exact same issue happened when I tried sending an anniversary card to my sister. I can't send anything. Wondering if it was cookies, I went into my browser settings and allowed every cookie they want plus external ones, but it still shows the cookie banner at the bottom on every single page. I went into my account preferences and turned on all cookie settings, then erased the site data and reloaded, but the banner came back. I went back and checked my cookie settings and everything I'd set was back off.

Thomas R.Jul 5, 2023

This is a total scam. You start with a free membership but they want your credit card details. You give it to them and immediately get charged seven dollars. When you try to cancel, the system doesn't actually process it and they keep charging you that same seven dollars month after month until you basically call them out on it.

Nicholas J.Jun 27, 2023

This company is a complete embarrassment. I decided to register for their advertised free trial so I could send my daughter a unique digital birthday card. Immediately they ask for my credit card information which I guess I understood might be necessary when the trial runs out. But here's the problem, they're attempting to bill me right from the start before I even get a chance to try the service! How much greed is too much? At minimum let me actually use the trial first before charging my account.
