These razors used to be fantastic, but sadly the quality has really gone downhill. I've stopped buying them because they're just not worth the price anymore. The protective strip around the blades that used to be so hydrating is basically gone now. Previously I could get 4 or 5 solid shaves per blade, but now one good shave and the second use starts scraping. This is disappointing. *They reached out and offered to send replacements, so I'm hoping these are back to the original quality. Will follow up once I get them.
The razors and blades are genuinely the best I've found and they're reasonably priced. However, the packaging leaves something to be desired. Then comes the shipping situation. I got a message saying tracking was included but after days it still didn't work. When I contacted them about it, it took multiple messages back and forth before they admitted they don't actually provide tracking but said delivery would be 3 to 10 days from Ohio to California. It showed up on day 11. That's way too long and having the promised tracking would've at least given me peace of mind. They suggested specific shops I could visit instead, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of subscribing online. I also added a scrub to a previous delivery but then wanted to remove it from future orders and the process to unsubscribe from just that item was complicated with unnecessary steps and required me to justify my decision.
My time with Athena has been really positive! The products are definitely high quality. I'd been using another direct to consumer brand but their stuff started going downhill, so I decided to try something new. Their razor blades are consistently good and I recently grabbed their shave bar and shave foam. The bar surprised me in a good way since I was skeptical at first, having always used foam or gel products. Once you get a good lather going with some rubbing, it works almost as well as the cans. It's a solid eco-friendly swap for the aerosol cans.
ABSOLUTELY LIFE CHANGING!!! This razor is incredible, seriously like the Tesla of shaving products. I'll never switch to anything else. My skin feels so incredibly smooth and as someone who dealt with razor bumps before, this has been a total game changer for me. Definitely give it a shot if you struggle with that. 100000000/10 would recommend. The quality is just spectacular and it looks great in the shower too!
