Culligan International Reviews
Culligan receives sharply polarized reviews, with shoppers splitting between praising individual service technicians and delivery staff and expressing frustration with company practices and service quality. Positive reviewers consistently mention specific employees like Jamie, John, and Stephen, citing professional, helpful, and courteous service. Negative reviews focus on significant problems: reverse osmosis systems that fail to remove sediment despite expensive service calls, slow response times and delayed installations causing property damage, and product incompatibility issues where Culligan's pitcher filters do not work with Zero brand pitchers after Culligan's acquisition, forcing customers to repurchase entire systems.
The core complaint centers on the disconnect between friendly frontline staff and systemic failures in technical service, installation, and customer communication. Several shoppers report paying hundreds of dollars for repairs that do not solve their water quality problems, combined with slow service timelines and lack of transparency about product changes. While individual technicians and delivery personnel earn consistent praise for their work ethic and professionalism, the company itself faces criticism for rushing sales, failing to follow up on issues, and creating situations where customers incur additional costs for damage caused by Culligan's installation errors.
Culligan acquired a company called Zero and kept the brand name along with some products. Now Culligan makes their own pitchers, but they're incompatible with Zero filters. The water won't filter through Culligan's filters in a Zero pitcher, so customers basically have to buy Culligan's pitcher and filter combo. Nobody told existing customers about this before they started selling those filters in stores. I bought two filters that didn't work with my Zero pitchers. When I asked for help in different ways, they just shrugged and said sorry. Disappointed and looking for another brand that maintains integrity and filters as well as Zero did.
This company is a rip-off. Paid $250 for service and nothing got fixed. My reverse osmosis system was left running with sediment and produces water just like the tap now. The tank filled up with sediment from the street. The filter technician cost $150 and wasn't much better. Still getting street sediment. Total waste of money.
The delivery person who came to us today was named Stephen and handled everything professionally. He's always been very helpful on his visits.
Jamie delivered our water again today and continues to be excellent. Always polite, always helpful, and super professional. We really appreciate the service.
John came out to service our water cooler and did a fantastic job. He not only sanitized the unit but also came back when the cup holder and panel needed replacing. Great work from John and the whole Culligan team.
Skip this company entirely. They rush the initial sale but then let you down on everything else. I've been waiting over a month just for a response to my issue. The delivery took more than two weeks, and installation didn't start until another two weeks after that. A part was missing so water flooded my wooden floor, and I had to pay for the repairs myself. The whole experience has been a disaster.
Called customer service this morning about an issue with one of our water heating units. The representative on the phone was super helpful locating our details and got an engineer scheduled to visit within six days. Friendly, professional, and efficient all around.
Had a delivery from Dave who was extremely polite and professional. He brought our water up to our second-floor office without any fuss and was genuinely friendly throughout. Excellent service from the delivery team.
Stay away from this company. I would give them zero stars if I could. We bought a hot water dispenser from Water Coolers Direct before Culligan took them over. No problems until February after the acquisition when they serviced it and it started leaking. The technician eventually showed up and said the seals were bad and he'd order parts. Fast forward to June sixth and three wrong parts later, along with weekly calls and emails, an engineer arrived to tell us the wrong part was sent again. Now they're giving us a customer care email to contact. This is ridiculous. Avoid them completely.
In the Albany area, purchased a reverse osmosis system for my kitchen sink. The technician visited Friday afternoon, and by Saturday night I discovered water pooling in my basement from a slow leak. I called the salesman and the 24/7 service line Sunday and reported the issue plus mentioned the filters they didn't leave behind. Nobody ever came to fix anything. Monday morning I hired my own plumber, who found that the tech had loosened a connection and not tightened it properly. I blocked the company's number. Two years passed with me ignoring their calls until they sued me. Since I didn't respond to the lawsuit, I ended up losing and having to pay them. The company is careless and unreliable. Stay far away from them.
Worked briefly for Culligan UK after the company acquired my previous employer. Management consistently lied to staff about the business situation. Almost all employees lost their jobs except technicians, who were treated poorly with minimal support. The company has no idea what equipment they actually have in the field. Wrong parts and equipment get shipped to clients, and when technicians do show up after 7+ days, they often can't fix anything because they're calling headquarters for technical support on jobs they were sent to handle. This is purely a sales-driven organization that pampers salespeople posting about wins on social media while leaving technicians and customers to fend for themselves.
This company is a mess. We ordered a bagged water system for our workplace. When it arrived, the unit was damaged and it didn't even function. We called multiple times to request a replacement but were told they stopped offering bagged systems and would send a bottled model instead. After calling about six times over several months, we received a replacement that also didn't work. We then waited months for them to pick it up, which finally happened after two more months. The staff we dealt with on phone and email should feel ashamed. There are way better options out there if you search online.
Fast, professional, and courteous from start to finish. Really appreciated the service.
I had a drinking water treatment system installed in 2014 by the Culligan location in Bologna. I don't have a maintenance contract with them. They call every year asking if I want to do maintenance like filter changes and quality checks. This year I said yes and we scheduled for March 16th. Due to COVID, Culligan called to cancel. A few days later I got an invoice for the maintenance visit that never happened. I've tried contacting them several ways to explain that the service wasn't completed, but I get no response. I don't think it's right to invoice for work you didn't do. I'm asking for help getting either the service completed or confirmation that this invoice is canceled.
