FaceGym Reviews
FaceGym receives a highly polarized reaction from shoppers, with exactly half of reviews rating the service five stars and nearly half rating it one star. The five-star reviewers appreciate the in-store team and facial treatments themselves, while praising the professionalism and quality of service they received. However, a significant majority of complaints center on customer service failures and membership issues: customers report difficulty canceling subscriptions, inability to reach a human representative (with automated systems providing unhelpful responses), outdated or non-functional website features that claim cancellation options that do not actually exist, and punitive membership structures that force customers into additional billing cycles.
Common grievances also include poor communication about voucher validity and location restrictions, limited office hours that eat into appointment time with excessive consultations, and facility maintenance concerns such as odorous towels and unappealing studio conditions. Multiple reviewers characterize the membership as a "trap" or "rip-off" due to deliberately obscured cancellation processes. The stark divide in ratings suggests that while the core facial service satisfies some customers, systemic issues with business operations, customer support, and membership management are driving away a substantial portion of users.
Customer service here is awful. Way too much time during the session gets eaten up by consultations, even if you're a regular. I got a gift voucher and ran out of time to use it, but they wouldn't even give me one extra day. You can't actually reach anyone - customer service is just automated emails. The facials themselves aren't that impressive either. It's trendy but not worth the hype.
Total rip-off. Sign up for 2 months and then you can't actually cancel - there's no way to do it through their website or app, even though they claim there is. I emailed asking for help and got back some automated response saying I should just click the cancel button, except that button doesn't exist. Stay away or just pay per visit.
Really disappointing experience. My daughter and I each got a voucher for Christmas after seeing FaceGym at a department store in Manchester. When I went to book, they told me the vouchers weren't valid at that location. Since I'm in the Cumbria area, my only option was booking in London. The studio setup wasn't appealing - the lighting was too bright and the music was way too loud. Staff were pushy about add-on treatments. Worst of all, they refused to do my daughter's facial, saying her acne was too severe. It was just some under-the-skin bumps, and she was really hurt and embarrassed by their refusal. Seems like you should only go here if your skin is already perfect. My own facial was nothing special. Don't bother spending your money here.
The in-store team is wonderful and I've been coming for a long time, but management's decision to eliminate front desk staff and automate everything has been rough. You can't actually reach a person if you need to reschedule or you're running late. The bigger issue is their outdated consultation form - it still references COVID and doesn't tell you upfront if you're eligible for treatment based on your answers. Even if you fill it out days early, you don't find out there's a problem until you show up to your appointment. I went in today and found out I couldn't have the treatment I booked because of other facial work I'd had done since my last visit. The staff did their best to rebook me, but regulars and newcomers alike shouldn't find out they're ineligible when they walk in the door. It wastes everyone's time and money. If you're going to run an automated system, you need to design the whole thing properly.
This membership is a total con and a trap! It's the only membership I've had where you can't cancel until after your last billing cycle ends, which basically forces you into paying for a third month. The folks working at my location didn't even know about this, but hopefully they can warn customers. Getting out of my subscription has been a nightmare - can't do it through the app, the website doesn't work right, and customer service just tells you to figure it out yourself, which doesn't help at all. I feel completely ripped off and wish I'd never signed up.
What a letdown - they make canceling your membership way too complicated, which shouldn't be legal in the UK. They require you to fill out some form to cancel, but it's 2025 and there should be easier ways. Plus, the towels at the studio have this nasty odor and the whole place seems pretty unhygienic. If you're in the UK dealing with membership cancellation problems, filing a complaint with the Ombudsman is your best bet.
It's basically impossible to get anyone on the phone. They only have a generic email address, and when they do respond, it's with cookie-cutter answers. For something that's supposed to be luxury service, this customer support is seriously lacking.
Wonderful experience! Gabrielle at the King Cross location was my therapist and had so much expertise. The treatment took care of tension I had in my jaw and I definitely saw some lifting in my forehead area. One tiny thing - the studio was a little chilly, but overall fantastic.
Had a fantastic time! Gabrielle worked on me at the King Cross location and really showed how knowledgeable she is. After the treatment, I noticed way less tension in my jaw and a nice lift across the upper face. The only minor complaint was the temperature - the studio was a bit chilly.
What an outstanding first visit! Gabrielle at the Kings Road studio made me feel so welcome and was really knowledgeable throughout. The experience was fantastic and my skin looked brighter and felt less tight the next day. Already scheduled my next appointment!
Wow, what an incredible first visit! Gabrielle took great care of me at the Kings Road location and really knew her stuff. The whole experience was wonderful. My skin looked noticeably brighter and my face felt way less tight the next day. Already booked my next appointment!
The low rating is purely about how they handle customer issues. Their chatbot is the absolute worst - it gets in the way before any real person sees your message, and by then a simple problem has blown up into something huge. Canceling membership here is going to be my next headache. Now, the actual facials are solid and staff have always been nice to me, but appointment times don't match what you actually get. I've never had a full hour of treatment outside of paperwork, and I always end up waiting to even start. Real treatment time is usually around 40 minutes tops.
Absolutely the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. They're charming until you actually need help, then everything changes. Whether you're new or you've been a regular, all they do is tell you to email support, and then they ghost you for weeks before sending back a cold response with zero solutions. It's crystal clear they only care about taking your money. Really let down and won't even consider becoming a member now. FaceGym isn't the only facial place out there!
I see lots of people complaining about the same issues I'm facing. I genuinely loved the facials and the therapist at Notting Hill is fantastic. When I had a booking mix-up at another location, I understood accidents happen and let it slide even though I lost that session. But here's the thing - my business partner and I both have memberships and we're getting charged extra every month. She booked a treatment for the 8th thinking it was the last day of one cycle, only to find out they counted it as day one of the next cycle. When I asked if they could make a one-time exception since she's been paying for months, they said no. I get that mistakes happen, but for long-term customers paying good money, you'd think they'd show the same understanding we've shown them. Clearly they don't value loyalty.
Booked a session for a specific day because of an event coming up, and they canceled on me less than 2 hours before I was supposed to be there because a staff member called in sick. I couldn't reschedule to another day that worked for me. They offered me a 'complimentary' makeup session, which is ridiculous since I already pay for these through my membership! I've tried reaching the manager and emailing customer service with no response. I even asked what trade association they belong to and got nothing back. I've been a customer since they opened, but I'm done now. Won't be using their services anymore.
