What Shoppers Say About Bassett Furniture Industries
Bassett Furniture Industries receives deeply polarized feedback, with shoppers either highly satisfied or significantly disappointed. The five-star reviewers praise the durability and comfort of Bassett pieces, noting that furniture holds up well over many years (some customers report pieces performing well after five or more years of use). These satisfied customers also commend knowledgeable in-store staff and appreciate transparency about long wait times. However, the majority of reviews reveal serious concerns about product quality, delivery logistics, and warranty practices. Common complaints include cushions that sag or shift within months, mechanical failures in power recliners, wrong items shipped despite careful ordering, and unprofessional delivery experiences with communication barriers and property damage. Multiple reviewers report that warranty coverage does not match what was promised at the point of sale, and accessories like rugs are described as poor quality despite premium pricing.
The recurring theme among dissatisfied customers is that Bassett charges premium prices but fails to deliver corresponding quality or service reliability. Issues range from manufacturing defects (sinking cushions, failed mechanisms) to fulfillment errors and inadequate customer support when problems arise. Even when products eventually arrive intact, delivery crews have caused property damage and confusion. While Bassett's best customers appear deeply loyal, the company's inconsistent execution across product quality, order accuracy, delivery coordination, and warranty transparency creates substantial risk for new purchasers.

Sorted by: Most recentWe bought a nice leather sofa and love seat from Bassett about four years ago. The love seat has needed repairs three times because the cushions keep sinking and shifting, which ruins how it feels to sit on it. Less than a year back the power reclining mechanism quit working and had to be fixed, but it's broken again already. We paid top dollar thinking this would be our final furniture purchase for a long time. Our previous couch lasted 25 years before we handed it down to our daughter, and it still holds up great...
Shop somewhere else for quality furniture and real customer support. We bought what was advertised as a ready-to-ship modular sectional and were told it would arrive in a couple of weeks. It took two months to get here and they sent the wrong pieces. Apparently nobody bothered to verify the order before loading the truck. When we asked about the correct section, they said it'd be shipped right away, but now we're waiting another three weeks. Nobody from Bassett will pick up the phone or respond to messages. It's been over two months total and we still don't have the full sectional!
Had a terrible experience with our sectional delivery. The truck that showed up didn't have the company name on it, and the crew had major communication issues since only one person spoke English fluently. They trashed our flower beds during the delivery process. The sectional cushions ended up in the wrong spots and one had incorrect padding inside. The guys never even locked the pieces together properly. Plus the chaise makes an annoying creaking noise every time someone sits on it. For what we paid, the quality of both the furniture and service was really disappointing. Should have gone with a different brand.
We dropped a lot of money at the store in Rockville on a sofa, rocker, side tables, a rug, throw pillows, and threw in the warranty protection plan for six hundred extra dollars. The salesperson told us everything would be covered for five years. That wasn't accurate. The rug is total garbage. It frays and gets fuzzy. It stains instantly. We filed a warranty claim and got told the rug issues were from the manufacturer and weren't covered by the warranty. Of course they weren't. When you're in a nice showroom making a big purchase, you get caught up in the moment and don't do your homework. We usually skip warranties because of these types of situations. We talked to the manager about how cheap the rug is and that we bought a useless warranty and still haven't heard anything back. Take my word for it, the sales staff will trick you to hit their numbers. Never shopping there again. We provided all the details to the general manager back in November and still nothing. The warranty program is basically a scam! This company should be ashamed. Bassett furniture truly lies like a rug.
We've got two Bassett sofas and we're really happy with them. Yeah, the wait times are long, but they were honest about how much time we'd need to wait. Both are super comfortable and look fantastic in our space. We got the first one back in 2017 and it still looks and feels great. Just bought the same model again last year and it's equally cozy. No regrets!
Absolutely love Bassett! The team member at our local store was incredibly knowledgeable and talented at helping us visualize our bedroom. She's a real pro when it comes to interior design and made the whole process enjoyable. Sure, the prices are steep, but you're getting furniture that's built to last many years. Really happy with my new bedroom furniture and can't wait to enjoy it!
I'm warning everyone to stay away from this company. They have terrible customer service and refuse to actually support their products despite what their marketing says about satisfaction guarantees. I've never left a negative review before but they've given me no choice. I grabbed an in-stock sectional because I needed it fast. I tried it out at the store first and it felt perfect. But when it arrived, it was rock hard. They suggested I buy new cushions to soften it. After waiting a month, the new cushions were even firmer than the original ones. It turns out the showroom model had been worn in over time and they'd gotten complaints about firmness, but nobody mentioned that when I was buying. The store manager wouldn't work with me, and the regional manager ignored my emails. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Bassett kept claiming it was a custom order even though I bought an in-stock item. Check their BBB profile and you'll see many similar complaints.
Placed an order for a bedframe several months back. They cashed my check right away but the item still hasn't shipped. The folks in customer service are nice enough, but nobody seems to have a clue when or even if my $900 bedframe will actually show up. At this point I'm having to get my bank involved. Find a different retailer. Fair warning.
