What Shoppers Say About Golf Town
Golf Town receives polarized ratings from shoppers, with 17 reviews averaging 2.3 out of 5. Positive reviews consistently praise individual staff members for exceptional service, product knowledge, and genuine helpfulness during club fittings, equipment selections, and customer interactions. Shoppers highlight experiences with named employees who demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and attentiveness. However, negative reviews cite significant inconsistencies in service quality, with complaints about inattentive staff who ignore customers after initial contact, rudeness from office representatives, and poor handling of customer concerns even after substantial purchases.
The core issue appears to be service reliability and staff attitude rather than product quality. While some locations and employees deliver memorable experiences that drive five-star ratings, other interactions leave customers feeling neglected or disrespected. The stark gap between five-star and one-star reviews suggests Golf Town's experience depends heavily on which staff member assists you, indicating potential training or management consistency issues across locations.

Sorted by: Most recentHad a putter fitting done at the Queensway Toronto location and it was fantastic! The fitting expert Sofie was wonderful. She brought out a bunch of different putters for me to test. Picked up a new one and traded in the old model.
My wife stopped in to find new clubs and initially got some good attention when they showed her some options and let her test them in the sim. After that though, we basically felt invisible. We browsed a few other sets but nobody checked on us, so we ended up leaving. My wife wasn't happy about how things went.
Went to pick out a new 3 wood today and wasn't quite sure what I wanted. Sales guy Elvis came up and helped me out with incredible knowledge, patience and skill. He actually seemed to genuinely love his job and it showed. I really admired his work ethic. Thanks Elvis. Didn't improve my golf swing but sure had an awesome time.
Came in to swap out a dozen golf balls from a holiday gift for a similar product in another color and it went smoothly. Chatted with Alan about golf and ended up grabbing a fresh pair of Sketcher golf shoes before I left.
Dropped over a grand on some demo irons from their event. Called asking about a free fitting since I need adjustments I'm ready to pay for. The rep in the main office was incredibly rude and shut me down immediately. Then he actually criticized me for getting a deal on the demo stuff. Really poor handling. UPDATE - Got a call from the manager who apologized and set me up with a free fitting plus a discount on adjustments. Much better.
Had an amazing time at the Golftown location nearby. The whole experience was fantastic and the staff treated us wonderfully. Special shout out to Mike for going above and beyond!
Something needs to change here. Went to the Kanata location on Monday, Sept 8th around eleven in the morning to get a simple repair done. The repair desk was empty. Another customer and I waited five minutes, then I had to track down an employee who basically blew me off saying someone would be around shortly. A third person also got stuck waiting. After another five minutes I went looking again, clearly annoyed at this point, and only then did he actually bring someone out. When we finally got helped, they said the repair, which was a club head coming loose from the shaft due to epoxy breakdown, would need ten days and cost over twenty two dollars. This should take maybe ten or fifteen minutes if someone actually worked on it. What could help? Staff the repair area during business hours so customers don't chase people down. Actually acknowledge people waiting instead of brushing them off. Reconsider repair times because ten days for a quick epoxy fix is way too long. If repair work is that backed up, management should step in and get more people helping customers properly. The weak service, no accountability and long waits make it tough to come back.
Really upset with how my son and I were treated at the Coquitlam location on June 27th. Both a staff person named Johnny and the manager showed us disrespect. My son was testing a driver in the sim when another customer asked to go once. My son stepped aside, but then Johnny told him to move again for the same guy without even checking if we were finished. That was disheartening. I brought it up with Johnny, and he acted like I was wrong. When I talked to the manager about it, he basically said the other customer was on a golf team, like that made it okay. I told him straight up: we're paying customers too. Being young shouldn't mean less respect. My son got excited about buying his first driver but left feeling unseen and embarrassed. We still bought it, but it shouldn't have gone down that way. The Coquitlam location needs better training on treating all customers fairly and professionally. No one should feel unwelcome.
Found some xxio clubs online showing availability at the store and compared them elsewhere. The golftown prices were two hundred higher. Went to the north store and discovered the set was missing the 5 wood. The manager insisted it wasn't supposed to come with one despite their own online picture clearly showing it, and every other retailer including xxio canada lists it as included. Ended up ordering from a competitor for two hundred less with the 5 wood.
Went in looking to buy a new full set of clubs and honestly the service sucked once I mentioned my budget. They said feel free to look around and then disappeared. And their prices? Way too high. A driver at six hundred, woods between four and five hundred each, wedges at two fifty, irons running a thousand, and putters at two fifty. Add in a bag, shoes and accessories and you're looking at nearly four grand before taxes. I got my last set a couple years back at another shop for about eighteen hundred with tax. Won't be back and can't recommend them.
