What Shoppers Say About Lightology
Lightology carries premium lighting fixtures including luxury items like high-end Italian designer lamps, but shoppers report severe issues with post-purchase support. The overwhelming majority of reviews (80 percent) award just one star, with customers consistently citing glacial response times from the sales team, lengthy delays in processing returns and exchanges, and poor communication about policies that are not clearly disclosed on the website. One satisfied customer praised the company's ability to ship premium inventory quickly and noted responsive service during their purchase, but this positive experience stands in stark contrast to the many reports of being stonewalled after payment.
The most frequent complaint involves return authorization delays spanning weeks or months, with customers reporting that Lightology requires unexplained manager approval before issuing return shipping labels, even for items in perfect condition with original packaging. Additional complaints include incorrect product dimensions listed online (affecting installation planning), wrong items being shipped, and a marked difference in service quality between the sales process and post-sale support. Customers who have spent substantial amounts (one mentioned over $10,000 in purchases) report feeling abandoned once the transaction is complete.

Sorted by: Most recentI've been trying to return multiple items for over a month now. It took more than three weeks just to hear back from them. Their excuse was that the manufacturer has to sign off on the return first. I'm still hanging around waiting. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. They're happy to take your money but disappear when you need support with returns.
The sales team responds to emails and voicemails at a glacial pace. Getting approval from management for an exchange moves just as slowly. You won't find much help from this outfit.
I'm a repeat customer at Lightology, but right now I'm just trying to get a return shipping label for a ceiling fan we can't use. Everything's ready to ship back in perfect condition with original packaging, but I keep getting the runaround about needing some kind of prior approval before they'll give me a label. This isn't mentioned anywhere on their site, and why is it taking almost two weeks now. No good excuses here, just ridiculousness. Fair warning to anyone shopping there: if you have an issue and need to return something, you might find yourself stuck like me without a return label. And these fans aren't cheap either.
We grabbed a luxury light fixture here because they had premium inventory sitting on shelves and could ship right away. Other places carried the same Italian pinecone lamp we wanted, worth over $3000, but they quoted weeks for delivery. We contacted them a few days after buying to modify our order regarding a bulb, and their team was responsive, knowledgeable, and focused on the customer's needs, not some automated system. The order tracking was helpful too, showing when each component actually shipped. I'd definitely buy from them again. I've actually purchased from them previously years ago as well.
We purchased a chandelier from Lightology back in October, but because our renovation got delayed, we didn't hang it until March. When we read through the installation instructions, we discovered the actual chandelier height is 61.5 inches, not the 54.75 inches listed on their website. Sure, the main body is 54.75 inches, but you need to add a 4 inch rod and a 2.75 inch canopy to that, bringing the real height to 61.5 inches minimum. Unfortunately our space won't accommodate something that tall. I reached out to ask if we could shorten it, but that's not possible. I tried returning it because of the height issue, and they said no because we're past their 60 day window. I explained that their measurements are wrong on the site, but they still refused. They're insisting their 54.75 inch measurement is accurate even though it leaves out the required rod and canopy. I get that we're outside their return period, but they should make an exception since the product details on their website are inaccurate.
The sales team was fine, but once you hand over your money, customer support disappears completely. I've been a customer spending well over $10k, and when they shipped me the wrong items, getting it corrected has been a nightmare. We're talking two months of back and forth with almost no progress. I mentioned I'd be having surgery soon and would need things resolved quickly, but that didn't light a fire under them at all. They promise callbacks that never happen. They send requests but ignore your responses asking for updates. There are plenty of other places to shop for lighting with much better support. The claims department has been moving at a snail's pace for weeks now, barely responding and dragging their feet on follow-ups. They've been more of a problem than a solution. I ordered from you, not the maker. You should take responsibility for either getting me what I paid for or fixing this mess by taking back the wrong items and refunding me.
Absolutely terrible support that offered no actual help, answers, or ideas. I sent them photos of my light fixture because the LED element burned out. Right from the start, I made clear I hadn't bought this fixture from them. After nearly a week they finally replied saying there wasn't much they could do since I wasn't their customer. They could have said that immediately when I called, or if they had any service sense, suggested replacement fixtures instead. Really let down, and the company's gone downhill. Even when the manager phoned back, she had zero suggestions or alternatives to share.
We've been fighting to get our money back for months now because Lightology sold us a broken light fixture. The socket won't accept the bulbs that both Lightology and the maker claim work with it, specifically the 118mm halogen size. It's nowhere close. We managed to force in a 114mm bulb, but the only option in that size runs on European current and produces basically zero light on our US voltage. The fixture itself looks fantastic and we paid an electrician to set it up, but it doesn't work because suitable bulbs simply won't fit. We're stuck paying for both the broken fixture and the electrician's labor to install and remove it, plus almost $100 in bulbs we tried from multiple companies. Nothing came close to fitting. We've wasted so much time going back and forth with both Lightology and the manufacturer while they keep insisting those 118mm bulbs will work. They refuse to accept any fault. I'd never recommend this company or the manufacturer to anyone. They don't stand behind what they sell.
DO NOT SHOP HERE. This is a risky business to avoid. We bought a hanging light fixture and received a knockoff product. It had the wrong bulbs included and was made from plastic that warped and almost ignited once installed. They claimed nothing was wrong and wouldn't offer a replacement or give us our money back.
Purchased two chandeliers totaling between $8k and $10k. Both looked completely different from how they appeared on the site. Our interior designer called in but got no sympathy. They have a policy against returns on anything over $5000, which means they don't really support their best customers. It took two electricians plus a contractor two full days just to install them the best they could, yet they still didn't match the pictures online. We and our designer will never work with them again. Terrible experience overall. Steer clear.
