Gold’s Gym Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Gold’s Gym
Gold's Gym receives highly polarized reviews, with shoppers split sharply between five-star and one-star ratings. Positive reviewers praise specific staff members by name, particularly at the Douglasdale location, highlighting welcoming service and helpful assistance over multi-year relationships. However, the majority of recent reviews express serious safety and privacy concerns centered on locker room access policies, with multiple shoppers reporting that the gym permits men into female changing areas. Reviewers describe feeling unsafe and uncomfortable in vulnerable spaces, and several mention that management dismissed complaints and retaliated against female members who raised concerns.
The stark divide in ratings reflects fundamental disagreements about gym policies and management priorities. While loyal customers appreciate individual staff members and their workout experience, dissatisfied reviewers view the facility as failing to protect female member safety and dignity. The repeated focus on locker room access and management's response to complaints suggests these are significant operational issues affecting the gym's reputation and member retention.

Sorted by: Most recentFor the past four years, I've been working out at the Douglasdale location and have never had a bad experience. I've checked out other Gold's locations around town, but I always come back here. The evening crew, especially Alex and Amid, plus Merry on Saturdays and Sundays, always make me feel welcomed and go out of their way to help. Everything is spotless, well taken care of, and there's never a shortage of machines to use. Plus, parking is never an issue, which is a huge bonus. Keep doing what you're doing.
This is not a safe space for women. The gym allows men into the female locker rooms.
This gym puts female members at serious risk by supporting someone with a history of domestic violence, who repeatedly entered and used the women's locker room and made female members feel uncomfortable and threatened. Management not only ignored this problem, they actually retaliated against the woman who reported it.
I have to give this gym a terrible rating because they don't stand up for women or protect safe spaces. Girls, go somewhere that actually respects your safety and dignity. We shouldn't have to share vulnerable spaces with men. This facility clearly doesn't care about supporting their female customers and lacks the courage to set reasonable boundaries.
Terrible. No values. No privacy protection. This place lets biological males into women's changing areas. A real woman got kicked out and had her membership cancelled just for speaking up about a man staring at her while she was changing. Do not waste your time here. Find somewhere else.
I was hunting for a new gym and came across posts online mentioning that this location permits men to use the women's bathrooms. Women deserve to feel secure and comfortable when they work out.
The gym is supposed to start letting people in at 7 on weekend mornings, but they've got a real problem getting dependable staff to open the doors. Last Saturday I showed up at 7, and not only was the place still locked up, but I waited out front for almost an hour and nobody ever came. A bunch of us eventually just gave up and left. This has been going on since February with staff constantly running behind. For a newer facility, they've got way more problems than I ever experienced with other gyms like Planet Fitness. I'm looking to switch.
They ripped me off with charges I never approved and then tried to bill me again, and yet again just to actually cancel. It was an endless hassle trying to get straight answers about anything, and every time I asked a question they'd just point fingers. The whole experience was frustrating and dishonest. I've never even been to their gym and they're still trying to squeeze money out of me. This was the Glendale area location.
Their customer service is nearly impossible to reach. Do they even have a customer service department?
