That's a lot of extra hassle that shouldn't be my problem to solve. A simple full refund from the start would have been the right call.

Watch out. This is a company based in China. They won't actually deliver your purchases and your card details end up everywhere. This is why nobody really knows about them except through social media ads. Steer clear!

I immediately sent them an email asking to be taken off their mailing lists. They replied the next day saying I could unsubscribe through their website and that catalogs would stop in eight to twelve weeks, promising my address would go on their do-not-mail list. I followed their instructions and figured it was handled. But then on September twenty-seventh, over fifteen weeks later, another unsolicited catalog arrived. I contacted them again about already completing their unsubscribe form and still getting materials. On September twenty-ninth, they responded with the identical message from before, acting like my first contact never happened.

Visited their Corte Madera location recently and was totally impressed. The space is gorgeous and the people working there were super nice. I grabbed several t-shirts and a couple of incredibly comfy sweatshirts for myself and my partner. Had a wonderful time shopping and I'll definitely be back. Their emails are nice too!

I joined their Re-Spun recycling program where you spend twenty dollars for a bag and get forty in store credit. I bought six bags and got six forty-dollar credits. The fine print says credits don't combine, but the whole program is set up so you end up spending extra. Each credit is below the fifty-dollar free shipping mark, so you either pay to ship or spend at least ten more per order. This needs to be clearer. They say they make zero profit, but that's misleading. The stacking limitation and shipping threshold mean they actually profit from every single redemption. Plus they've claimed this helps the environment, but by forcing separate orders, customers get multiple shipments which creates more carbon emissions, not less. I wanted others to know so they don't get trapped the same way.

Setting the clothes aside, this brand has some of the strongest customer service around. Really impressed with how they treat people!

They take down critical reviews and combine different fabric materials in single items that are basically impossible to clean properly. Also if you have any real leg size, their stretchy sweatpants are basically the only sad option.

Marine Layer's phone line always goes unanswered, emails don't get helpful responses, and their Berkeley store staff is really rude. Their new Re-Spun program is deceptive. You pay about twenty-two dollars (twenty plus shipping fees) for a bag to get a forty-dollar discount. But if you're not happy with whatever you buy with that forty dollars, or it doesn't fit right, you're stuck. That credit is gone, so your money is wasted. They won't give you that credit back. The person helping me in store didn't even mention any other options before telling me my forty-dollar credit disappeared. I loved the old Re-Spun donation system but this version feels like a scam. After years of shopping with them, Marine Layer has lost my business and apparently doesn't even care.

They then told me there was no refund or store credit available, which meant I basically threw away my forty-dollar reward even though I wanted to buy something else. That seems really unfair considering all the clothing I donated through Re-Spun. They've lost me as a repeat customer.
