Ash & Erie Reviews
Ash & Erie is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 18 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. Recurring complaints center on durability issues (fabric stretching, seams splitting after minimal wear), defective garments arriving (wrong items, poor quality control), and severely inadequate customer service. Shoppers report difficulty reaching the company, unresponsive communication channels, delayed or missing refunds, and no phone support. Several reviewers also note persistent out-of-stock issues in smaller sizes and prices that do not match the quality delivered.
A small minority of shoppers praise the fit and general concept of the brand, with one reviewer noting that most items held up well over a year despite premium pricing. However, these positive experiences are heavily outweighed by complaints about product failures after one wear or wash, lack of accountability, and the company's inability to manage customer issues professionally. The overwhelming pattern suggests systematic problems with quality control, order fulfillment, and customer support that have eroded trust in the brand.
They send the wrong stuff and then you can't get ahold of them. Communication is basically nonexistent and there's no phone line to call.
It's been several weeks since submitting my previous complaint and I'm still waiting on my refund for two unopened shirts I returned because they were the wrong size. Nothing. Don't buy from this company because they can't be trusted. Plus the prices are way too high for what you get. Good concept but they really dropped the ball.
Picked up a crewneck and the material felt a little off but I liked how it looked so I kept it. After one wash following their instructions (cold water, hang dry), it's permanently wrinkled and looks like it's been sitting in a laundry basket for weeks. I was able to return the other stuff without any problems. This review is really about how bad their sweatshirts and crewnecks are. Wouldn't suggest it to anyone.
Their stuff is generally pretty good quality and fits better than most standard sizes you find everywhere. I had a pair of pants split along the seam after wearing them for about a year but other than that no complaints about durability for a pricey brand. My real issue is they're constantly out of stock in small sizes. A company that's supposed to cater to shorter guys can't seem to keep smalls in stock. I'm 5'5" and slim so this brand should be perfect for me but I can never find what I want. They're losing a lot of sales because of this.
The jeans arrived quickly and fit perfectly at first. My husband wore them on vacation to dinner and a concert and they completely fell apart. The fabric stretched out, everything sagged around the ankles, and the button wouldn't stay fastened. After washing and ironing out all the wrinkles they still looked terrible. He wants them back but they won't accept returns on worn items. These are $102 jeans and they're keeping the money. Most retailers like LLBean or even Walmart will take things back. I've seen pages of their pants on eBay selling for $18 so we're not the only ones who got burned.
Total letdown all around. I'm in Detroit so when I found out they were on Washington Boulevard downtown I thought it would be perfect for some shopping. Drove down, got through security to reach their office and discovered they don't have an actual retail store just offices since they only do online sales. Some employee offered to show me samples and pulled out a clothing rack that looked like something from a discount resale place with stuff everywhere and bent up hangers. I was ready to buy shorts, pants, and shirts but walked out with nothing. They missed out on a customer. Really bad experience. Won't be going back.
This company is stuck in the past when it comes to how they handle orders. No accounts or anything so returns are a nightmare. They hold onto your money forever and claim they're too slammed to process returns. You'll get spammed constantly but they use the same email for customer service and marketing so you can't even block them properly if you actually need help. Getting a refund is basically impossible with these people.
Getting spammed by this company every single day. Had to end up blocking their calls.
Their return policy is garbage. I sent back 3 brand new unworn items still in their packaging and they said one was worn and dirty and sent photos to prove it. When I got that item back it looked perfect. It seems like something happened to it while they had it but now they're saying it's my problem. I wish I'd taken pictures before sending it in. Never buying from them again.
Ordered an XLarge sweater and it fit like a medium. Tried returning it within 30 days but all they kept offering were gift cards and discounts off the refund. Ended up getting back less than $20 on the return. Absolute worst return experience ever.
Really well made clothes that fit just right. It's awesome to finally find something that works for shorter guys. Great bang for your buck.
Ordered three Chino pants and after just two washes they looked completely baggy and shapeless. Plus the seams were coming undone all over the place. When I reached out to customer service about returning them, they basically refused. They offered me 25% off future purchases or just $50 total even though I paid over $300 for these pants. They said they'd replace them because of the thread damage but honestly I don't trust the quality anymore so I said no thanks. The sizing works great but the actual quality of the clothing is disappointing and their customer service isn't willing to stand behind what they sell if you're outside their 30 day window. I'm done shopping here because I don't feel like a valued customer.
Got a Henley shirt and it started falling apart after just one wash. Looks like I've owned it for years even though I barely wore it. The fit is nice but the fabric quality is really disappointing.
The pants themselves are great but returning them is a headache. I'm not shopping here anymore because of it. I wanted to exchange for a different size and style but their return process was so frustrating I decided against it. I've sent 4 emails asking how to return something and still haven't gotten a straight answer.
I'm honestly shocked by all the bad reviews about Ash & Erie because my experience has been totally different. Everything I've ordered has been good quality even though the prices are steep and their customer service has been helpful. Some sizing can vary between items but returns and exchanges are free and super easy. Found them through The Modest Man Blog and I'm really glad I did. It's nice to buy clothes that don't need alterations right out of the box.
