Awful rental company. I won't be using them again. They charged me unfairly and I'm really upset about it.

Terrible experience. The staff member told me that if I returned the car with a full tank I would not be charged a fuel fee. Then they charged me anyway. When I asked for a refund and provided my bank statement as proof, they refused because I didn't have a receipt. Stay away from this place.

I'm frustrated after dealing with a serious billing dispute following my rental from the city center branch. After I returned my car, I was hit with charges for a traffic fine and a city fee totaling over ninety pounds with tax included. The problem is that Avis never gave me the actual fine paperwork, any proof of payment, or even a proper explanation, despite asking multiple times. When I went in person to the branch, the staff said they couldn't help with billing matters and told me to contact support elsewhere. One staff member was unhelpful and never even introduced himself. Another employee basically told me not to bother fighting it. I reached out to support several times and sent emails but got no response, only mixed messages. At one point someone mentioned the charges might be parking related, but I parked exactly where an employee told me to when dropping off the car and I have pictures to prove it. Still no actual fine was ever shown to me. It took an industry escalation to finally get my money back.

Rented an SUV from the DC airport and dropped it off at a Baltimore airport location and got a Nissan Rogue that was in perfect condition for what we needed. One of the best parts was that Avis doesn't charge extra fees for returning the car to a different airport location, which is why we picked them over our usual choice. The whole process of getting the car and returning it was quick and simple. We had already paid online and the temporary charge on our card disappeared about a week later.

Fantastic phone booking experience. I was struggling to book with other companies online since I didn't have a credit card, but Avis came through for me. Not only did they give me the best price, but they also broke everything down clearly and were happy to take a debit card instead. The person I worked with was really helpful and patient. The reservation was made early September afternoon, so hopefully this gets back to the associate who helped me.

The manager at a London airport branch really went above and beyond. I accidentally left my work ID in a rental car and didn't realize it for three weeks since I was working remotely. When I called the branch, the manager said he had found it and kept it secure because the name didn't match the paperwork. Most companies would have tossed it after a few days. The manager mailed it back to me quickly even though I sent a return envelope. I can't thank him enough because my employer would have been very upset if I'd lost that ID. Outstanding service.

Several rentals with Avis now and every time it's been quick and straightforward. The vehicles are in great shape and the crew is personable. Unlike some other rental places, they've never tried to hit me with hidden fees or fake damage claims.

Over the past two years I've rented from Avis multiple times across different countries including the UK, Spain, Italy and Sweden. Not once have I had any issues. The cars are always pristine and I've never seen any surprise fees on my invoices. Being a member of the preferred program definitely makes getting a car faster.

Had an excellent rental experience in New Zealand's South Island. I booked an Avis car for station pickup on a specific date in November. Although there was quite a line because of a train arrival and the space was tight, I eventually got great attention from one of the staff members. She was incredibly patient, friendly and knowledgeable. She even recommended a scenic detour that turned out amazing. When I pointed out some marks on the vehicle, another team member quickly came over to document them. The car itself was fantastic and the return process at the destination city was smooth and professional. Really appreciate it.

After having a terrible experience with another rental company regarding a van, I decided to try Avis at their location in that area. The employee at the counter was incredibly kind and accommodating. They set me up with a brand new van for my trip. Right from the beginning, they explained every cost upfront and everything went perfectly. The staff knew what they were doing and really looked out for me. Best customer service I've gotten from a rental place. If I need to rent again, I'm definitely coming back here.

Absolutely flawless service. We rented a car from a European location for five days starting in late May. The service exceeded all expectations. The manager on staff was incredibly professional and customer focused. When we ran into a card issue at the last minute, he spent over an hour helping us resolve it. We ended up with a fresh clean vehicle and were even gifted a complimentary GPS because of my birthday. Beyond the problem solving, the staff was polite, thorough in their explanations, and genuinely friendly in a way I haven't experienced elsewhere. I highly recommend renting from Avis and would especially recommend this particular office to anyone.
