Beautycounter Reviews
Beautycounter shoppers are sharply divided in their opinions, with ratings clustering at the extremes. Supporters praise the brand's commitment to clean beauty and avoiding harmful chemicals, highlighting specific products like the Vitamin C serum and hydrating lotion as effective and worth the premium price. Many loyal customers report years of repeat purchases and appreciation for the quality formulations. However, a significant portion of reviewers report serious frustrations with the service side of the business, including unauthorized recurring charges, difficulty canceling subscriptions, and confusing return policies. Some customers also report that products caused breakouts or failed to perform as advertised, suggesting potential skin compatibility issues.
I'm 70 years old and giving Beautycounter five stars straight up. My daughter who's a healthcare worker did tons of research and found that Beautycounter was the only brand avoiding certain harmful chemicals. I've been using it since 2021 and it's the best. The price is fair too. I tested everything first before deciding to support them because I don't promote stuff I'm not sure about. Back in my 40s I had to scrape together cash just to buy products and I'd get terrible reactions with burning and swelling. Awful experience. I'd go to the big department stores for makeup and keep running into the same issues. With Beautycounter I've had zero problems.
I dropped several hundred bucks on their products and honestly I wish I'd kept my money. Their supposedly waterproof mascara is anything but. The Vitamin C serum is legit great and the hydrating lotion really is fantastic, but everything else bombed for me. Broke out like crazy and I'm done with it. I guess it comes down to having different skin, but it just wasn't my match.
I never agreed to get charged monthly, but somehow I ended up with 3 orders of vitamin C serum on repeat. Had to call customer service twice just to cancel it, and they kept shipping to different addresses and billing my card anyway. I only wanted one item originally. By month four I had moved and missed the last delivery, but they still charged me for it. Called again about the cancellation and was assured I'd get my money back, except my card was never credited. I ended up paying $95 three separate times and have unopened boxes taking up space in my house for weeks. Their customer service is honestly terrible and disorganized.
I've been buying from Beautycounter for several years now and I'm really into their stuff. It feels like the quality version of a luxury brand but without all the questionable chemicals. Wish they'd come out with some amazing holiday gift sets like they used to make back in the day. What really gets me is their commitment to pushing for cleaner beauty standards in Washington. Knowing they're fighting for what's right makes me way more likely to stick with them.
These cosmetics are wonderful and super high quality with really good ingredient formulas.
I wanted to share feedback about my recent purchase and the return process. The company told me I have to wait until the item arrives at my house before I can even start a return, which doesn't make any sense since my order is still sitting in their warehouse and hasn't shipped yet. The whole thing feels backwards and poorly thought out.
Their shipping is consistently fast and the products are solid. Yeah they cost more than drugstore brands but they're right in line with other premium clean beauty lines. Since switching to their foundation and moisturizer my skin has gotten noticeably clearer. I'm pretty selective about what I buy but the items I do choose work great for me.
Got the Beautycounter pink travel set back in July 2020 but with everything shutting down we never ended up going anywhere so it just sat in my medicine cabinet. When I looked at the eye cream with the dropper applicator, it was almost full. Never actually used it since I was saving it for the trip, but six months later it was halfway empty. Something's going on with that bottle design because the product is clearly leaking or evaporating. Most people might not catch this while they're actively using the stuff but it's definitely happening. Not pleased about it.
These products are fantastic for both me and my partner. Can't say anything but good things about Beautycounter, their items, pricing and how their team treats customers.
I really like most of their products, but I got a brand new serum that arrived expired or degraded. Opened it up and it smelled off, was way too thick and totally unusable so I had to toss it. Called customer service and they told me since over 60 days had gone by they wouldn't accept a return. I get that their stuff is natural and might have a shorter window, but they should give customers a heads up about potential shelf life issues. Would've been nice if they at least offered a replacement given I'm a loyal customer, but they didn't go that route. Disappointed by how they handled it.
The actual products are fine but way overpriced. I'd probably keep buying except my membership got cancelled because they thought something was fraudulent when there wasn't. Their fraud team said I could follow up with questions but they've ghosted me on every message, which is super unprofessional. I opened multiple tickets with regular support and they basically told me it's no big deal and I can still shop without the member discount. That's incredibly insulting when there was zero fraud involved. Also they won't do price adjustments if something goes on sale right after you buy it, even within a day or two.
As a guy I grabbed the CounterMan line and I'm really happy with it. The oil free face lotion is my go-to, doesn't leave you feeling greasy and has a fresh clean scent without being super heavy handed like most men's products. My skin feels amazing and I'm confident in this brand.
These products genuinely work for my skin. For years I dealt with combination dry and oily skin from all the chemicals in my regular makeup. Switched to Beautycounter and it cleared up super fast. Love that it doesn't sting or leave my skin feeling parched. They really make solid makeup. One thing I wish they'd change is selling eyeshadows as full palettes only. I'd love to buy individual colors instead of being forced to get a bunch for $90. That part stings pricewise, but their foundation is actually reasonably priced and the concealer and setting powder are great deals. That powder seriously lasts forever if you don't drop it. Overall Beautycounter is excellent.
I've bought around 15 items from BeautyCounter and have been a Band Of Beauty member since early 2018. Their products are pretty hit or miss for me, honestly about half work and half don't. Plus they're really pricey. I do appreciate how open they are about what goes into their stuff, but I'm not a fan of their industry lobbying efforts. Also wasn't thrilled when they partnered with a certain celebrity for their Mother's Day campaign in 2019 who didn't seem like the right fit. The wins for me have been their Daily Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner, Charcoal body bar, Flawless in Five set, and their Kids cleansing wash. I'd skip the adaptive moisturizer, the citrus mimosa body lotion (totally ineffective), their facial oils with Jasmine and Ylang Ylang scents (also do nothing), and the Moisturizing line for hair (made mine super greasy).
Someone fraudulently used my credit card and made about 20 charges from their website on a shopping spree. When I asked them to provide the name of who committed fraud on my own card, they refused to give me any information and protected the thief instead. That's pretty shocking.
