Cabela’s Savings Hacks
Cabela's frequently marks down outdoor gear in clearance areas. Apply a percentage-off promo code to already-reduced items for maximum savings on discontinued or seasonal products.
Signing up for Cabela's email list often unlocks first-purchase discounts and early access to seasonal sales. Check your inbox for member-only codes before shopping major events.
Cabela's periodically offers free shipping on qualifying orders. Time your purchase to meet these thresholds and avoid paying carrier fees on heavier outdoor equipment.
Major holidays and seasonal transitions typically trigger deeper discounts at Cabela's. Plan significant gear purchases around these windows to maximize the value of available promo codes.
Cabela’s Shipping Policy
Cabela's ships orders to most U.S. addresses through standard and expedited carriers. Shipping costs depend on order weight, destination, and the carrier selected at checkout. Some orders may qualify for free shipping; shoppers should review current offers on RetailCoupons.com and Cabela's website for shipping promotions.
Cabela’s Returns & Refund Policy
Cabela's allows customers to return most items within a standard return window from the date of purchase. Items must typically be in original, unused condition with original packaging and tags. Shoppers should verify the specific return policy for their purchase category and contact Cabela's directly with questions about eligibility.

Cabela’s Reviews
Cabela's receives highly polarized reviews, with shoppers split between strong satisfaction and significant frustration. Those rating positively appear to be loyal customers who value the store's hunting and fishing selection. However, the majority of recent reviews highlight serious concerns: defective products that fail after minimal use with unhelpful return policies, shipping errors that result in wrong items being delivered, poor delivery handling by third-party carriers, and lack of employee knowledge or availability in stores. Several shoppers also express concern about the transparency of the store's roundup charitable donation program, noting that staff cannot explain where donated money actually goes.
Quality control and customer service emerge as the primary pain points. Shoppers report that expensive items like hunting boots and air rifles fail quickly or arrive damaged, and that Cabela's either refuses refunds or provides limited recourse. Since the Bass Pro Shops acquisition, some regular customers report declining inventory, inconsistent staff helpfulness, and pricing that no longer stands out from competitors. The recurring theme across negative reviews is unmet expectations for a premium outdoor retailer, particularly given the price points of items purchased.
I bought a pair of 2000 gram hunting boots for 180 dollars. After just one season of use, the rubber completely ripped on both boots at the exact same spot. They refused to offer a refund or replacement because it was going into the second season. That's not acceptable quality for that price.
I can't rate this low enough. I ordered an air rifle as a Christmas gift for my grandson along with a target set, extra pellets, and an additional magazine clip. They shipped me a completely different air rifle that won't even work with the magazine I ordered. I called the Bass Pro Cabela's location right away without even opening the rifle and explained that they sent the wrong one, which should have been obvious from the magazine. They absolutely refused to help fix anything. Just a flat no, even though there was no order confirmation to verify what was supposed to be sent. This company is impossible to work with and I'd tell anyone to avoid them. Now I'm stuck with a rifle I didn't want and a magazine that's worthless.
My order got dumped in a snowbank at the end of my driveway after plowing. The package was left about three quarters of a mile away from my house at the road. It wasn't in a proper box, just the original packaging, but that's not even the main issue. Inside was an expensive crossbow meant as a Christmas present for my son. He discovered it when he got home, so the surprise was completely ruined. Why would anyone leave an expensive item like that out by the road where trash goes? The packaging was wet and slightly damaged too. I'm really upset about this whole experience and haven't even opened it to check for damage since the box was already compromised.
Things have gone downhill at Cabela's since Bass Pro took over. When I went in, there were barely any scope rings on the shelves and the scope selection was pretty thin. Plus, about half the employees I ran into seemed unhappy or were nowhere to be found when you needed one. And honestly, the prices aren't anything special compared to competitors.
I'm a frequent shopper at Cabela's but I'm frustrated with the roundup program. Every time I ask employees where the money goes, they don't really have an answer. They mention it's for kids, which sounds good, but which kids exactly? Nobody seems to know and it's all very mysterious. If you're asking customers to donate money, you should be clear about where it's going. Plus, constantly asking people for donations when times are tough feels like guilt tripping. Just offer a donation box at checkout instead.
I shop at Cabela's regularly, but I'm getting really frustrated with their roundup program. When you ask the staff where the money actually goes, they have no clue. They just say it goes to kids or something. Well, which kids? It's all very secretive and unclear. If you're going to ask customers for donations, at least be transparent about where the money is going. Stop pressuring people into giving when they're already struggling financially. Just put a donation box on the counter if you really want to help a cause.
Boat motor repair service was absolutely one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend their service department to anyone. The issues started back in 2023 and there's way too much that went wrong to even list here. It's not that I'll stop shopping there completely, but I'm definitely going to check out other places first before I consider using Cabela's again.
Skip buying firearms from this store. They pass off used and faulty guns as brand new merchandise. The one I purchased was already opened but I bought it anyway after driving three hours to get there. It jammed constantly and there's nothing you can do about it because all sales are final. There's zero service support once you hand over your money. Glocks especially have become terrible products lately. They've cut corners so much that they don't work properly and don't last.
I won't ever order from this company again. It's hands down the worst online shopping experience I've had in my life. Honestly, I'd give them zero stars if I could. I ordered shoes for my son-in-law on the 15th and heard absolutely nothing until I called on the 22nd. The customer service rep couldn't find any info about my order except that it was placed. They told me to wait up to ten business days, then call back if I hadn't received anything. Still nothing, no tracking info, no updates. When I reached out again, I was told they'd look into it themselves. Meanwhile, I had 280 dollars in pending charges because they kept re-authorizing even though I had nothing to show for it. Then on the 30th they finally contacted me saying my order was canceled due to lack of inventory. But the day before that, I got another charge for shoes that were already out of stock. Why would they keep charging me if they already canceled it?
Cabela's really went the extra mile this past weekend. They put together a fishing outing for our Veterans at a local veterans facility, and it was incredible. So many of our veterans are stuck indoors day after day, and some of them are even in hospice care. Being able to spend what might be their last moments outdoors fishing and enjoying nature really touched my heart. Even though Cabela's is profitable, they consistently invest back into the community without making a big deal about it. They just do the right thing and move forward. Everybody should shop there and support their efforts.
Cabela's really stepped up this past weekend. They organized a fishing event for our Veterans at a local facility, and it meant so much to everyone there. Many of these veterans don't get outside often, and a few were even dealing with serious health challenges. It warmed my heart knowing they got to spend what could be their final days doing something they love outdoors. Cabela's makes good profits but consistently gives back to the community without seeking attention or praise for it. They just quietly do good work. I'd encourage everyone to shop there and support what they're doing.
I spent approximately two thousand dollars at the Richfield store and walked away with a terrible experience. They sold me ammunition that wasn't suitable for my firearm and completely refused to accept it back or resolve the issue. Their customer service was unacceptable.
I spent close to two grand at the Richfield location. The staff sold me ammunition that wasn't compatible with my firearm and refused to take it back or fix the problem. The customer service was absolutely terrible.
The prices here are ridiculously expensive. Ninety dollars for a pair of pants? This place is clearly only for wealthy people, not regular working folks like me.
I was planning to spend a couple thousand dollars on a new rifle scope, but the terrible customer service and outrageous wait times turned me away. They really should separate their service desk for firearm purchases from the accessory section. Right now it feels like going to the DMV. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
