My Chemist Warehouse Group Australia receives sharply polarized feedback, with shoppers split almost evenly between one-star and five-star ratings. Negative reviews center on consistent staff attitude problems across multiple locations, with customers reporting unhelpful, dismissive, and sometimes aggressive behavior from cashiers and pharmacists. Several shoppers have also reported concerns about product authenticity, particularly with fragrances, and frustration with unresponsive customer service when issues arise. On the positive side (evident from the 48 percent five-star rating), many customers appreciate the store layouts, cleanliness, and product selection at well-managed locations.

The main friction points are interpersonal: staff training and customer service standards appear inconsistent across locations, with some employees failing to meet basic courtesy expectations. Product quality concerns, particularly regarding cologne and perfume authenticity and durability, also emerge as a recurring issue. Delivery and damage handling through Australia Post has also created friction when customer service responses have been absent or inadequate.

Got a bottle of cologne that's basically scentless and the smell fades within an hour. I'm pretty convinced this is counterfeit and I'm really let down.

We prefer the Hawthorn location because it's nicely lit, spacious, clean and well organized. Unfortunately that great impression gets completely ruined by one staff member at the register. A particular cashier named Jack treats customers like they're invisible and barely acknowledges you as a person. Working in retail requires courtesy, friendliness and engagement, but he brings none of that. I still support the chain because they take care of customers but one person's negative attitude really damages the whole brand. I do want to highlight another staff member, Jasmine, who represents everything great about customer service. She greets you warmly with a genuine smile and makes you feel valued.

I've visited locations in Murray Bridge and Kwinana Wellard multiple times and the staff attitude is consistently poor. Most of the time employees seem unwilling to help, and when you ask for assistance you either get vague directions or are met with annoyance. Chemist Warehouse really needs to improve their employee training because I've never dealt with this kind of dismissive behavior at any other pharmacy, whether chain or independent.

The staff at the Swanston and Bourke Street location in Melbourne City is absolutely the worst I've encountered. There's basically zero customer service and the female pharmacist managing the store has a cold, uncaring attitude that makes me think she'd be better suited for stock work. Having shopped here for years, this particular location stands out as exceptionally poor when it comes to actual customer care.

Ordered fragrance for a holiday gift through their online store and when it showed up, Australia Post had left a notice indicating the original shipment got damaged. The perfume box itself was damaged beyond repair and had to be discarded. Attempted reaching out to customer service with no response so far. Had to drive to a nearby location to purchase a replacement bottle.

The location is generally good but one cashier in particular has a seriously aggressive demeanor that really ruins the experience.

I keep running into issues getting my prescription filled. Tonight it was rejected again so I carefully reviewed all my paperwork because if the date shows I can pick up after the eighteenth, something doesn't add up. Turns out I only have the one prescription. I went back wanting answers since this happens constantly. The pharmacist mentioned there's an unwritten date different from what's printed, something nobody explains upfront. I had to ask repeatedly just to get this information. Why keep that hidden? I requested she write the date on the prescription itself so there's no confusion later. She refused my request multiple times. When I asked her reason, she blamed my attitude which only developed because she wouldn't answer my questions from the start unless another customer was nearby. It felt like I only got the information because someone else was watching. This whole experience was frustrating.

The site processed my order and took payment right away but then emailed me ten minutes later saying items were actually unavailable and my refund would take five business days to process. It's wrong to charge people for products you don't have in stock, and why does a refund need that long? How much money are they earning by holding onto these funds? Their website makes it impossible to file a proper complaint too, just offering webchat which doesn't even let you explain the issue. Skip their website entirely and shop in person at the actual store instead. You'll actually get what you paid for even if it costs more. I plan to escalate this through appropriate channels because this company's practices are sketchy.

Purchased Gaviscon gum by mistake when I actually needed the chewable tablet version. Went back the next day to return it but was turned down due to their return policy. Since I'd already bought the tablets separately, I had to toss the gum. Really disappointed with their inflexibility.

Placed an order weeks ago and when it should have been delivered, Australia Post sent it back damaged through no fault of mine. I've tried contacting customer service online three times and called once. Online messages have gone unanswered and over the phone they said they'd wait until the damaged items returned before resending. It's been over a day since they received the package back and still nothing from them. As a paying customer I expected them to immediately reorder once they could confirm the damage through tracking. The lack of follow-up is truly disappointing.

I left feeling so much happier than when I arrived at the location. The pharmacist was incredibly supportive and helpful, moving to a quiet section to speak with me privately. She answered every question I had and gave me all the time I needed without rushing. Her kindness and empathy made such a difference. Really grateful!

Just finished up at the local location and feeling so much better than when I walked in. The staff member really went above and beyond, taking me to a quiet spot and showing genuine care while addressing all my concerns. Couldn't have asked for better support and kindness. Really appreciate it!

Customer service here is absolutely unacceptable. As someone on a Healthcare Card, I qualified for PBS Safety Net benefits and brought my documentation and new prescriptions to the Highpoint location, expecting them to be covered. Instead, a female pharmacist refused to process my Safety Net Card and insisted I pay for those prescriptions. She claimed I needed to spend an extra twenty dollars first. While she seems pleasant enough normally, her job performance was seriously lacking. Not satisfied, I visited the Braybrook location where another pharmacist said she was too swamped to help, though I later spotted her coworker assisting customers. This left me very frustrated with the service I received.

This company sponsors hateful content on air that's totally unacceptable. Won't be shopping here anymore.

Very happy with my experience at the shopping centre location. The team there, especially one staff member who processed my refund, made everything easy. I had to come back a couple times but appreciated how warm and courteous everyone was. The employee handling my refund was particularly kind, apologetic about any delays, and genuinely sweet. She really turned my visit into a positive one. Thanks so much to the whole crew and to that special staff member. Your politeness and caring attitude meant a lot!
