Gate 1 Travel Savings Hacks
Travel during shoulder or low seasons rather than peak summer or holiday periods to access better base prices before applying any promo code. Combining seasonal discounts with coupon codes can maximize your overall savings.
If traveling with friends or family, booking as a group may unlock additional discounts that can be further reduced with a valid promo code from RetailCoupons.com.
Sign up for Gate 1 Travel's email list to receive promotional codes sent directly to your inbox, which may offer better discounts than general public codes.
Review what each package includes (meals, tours, accommodations) when evaluating deals, since a lower base price might offer fewer amenities than a slightly higher option with better value overall.
Gate 1 Travel Shipping Policy
Gate 1 Travel sells vacation packages and flights, so traditional shipping does not apply. Booking confirmations and itineraries are typically delivered electronically after purchase. Shoppers should confirm delivery methods and timelines with the store during checkout, especially for printed materials if requested.
Gate 1 Travel Returns & Refund Policy
Travel packages and flights generally have different cancellation and modification policies than physical goods. Gate 1 Travel Reviews
Gate 1 Travel earns strong praise from the vast majority of its customers, who consistently highlight the quality of accommodations (typically 4-star properties), professionalism and knowledge of tour managers and local coordinators, and the overall quality of itinerary planning and execution. Repeat customers note that the company delivers reliable experiences across multiple trips, with particular commendation for memorable destinations like South Africa and Morocco and for staff members who go above and beyond in making trips seamless. One customer reported significant dissatisfaction with an Egypt cruise, citing lack of WiFi connectivity, disorganized scheduling, and unmet expectations despite acknowledging adequate food service.
The rating distribution shows a polarized pattern, with 81 percent five-star reviews and 19 percent one-star reviews, suggesting that most trips meet or exceed customer expectations while occasional offerings fall substantially short. Shoppers appear willing to overlook minor issues (such as city tours that are merely informative rather than outstanding) when the core elements of hotels, guides, and logistics are well-executed. The consistency of positive feedback from repeat customers who have taken 8 to 11+ trips indicates that Gate 1 maintains reliable standards across multiple tours and destinations.
I just finished an incredible 17 day journey through Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam with Gate 1. The experience was truly something I'll never forget. We worked with three fantastic local travel coordinators, each bringing their own special talents to the trip. Boom and Sam both did a great job being professional and attentive to our needs. But I have to especially mention Duc, who led us through Vietnam. He was just outstanding. Duc was meticulous about every aspect of the trip and made sure everything ran like clockwork, while still being flexible when situations came up. He really made sure everyone felt looked after. What stood out was how generous Duc was with us. He brought special local treats and candies for the group, and did so much extra that wasn't required. Those small touches made the whole experience feel personal and special. Duc and his whole team made this journey something I'll treasure, and I'm incredibly grateful. I'd definitely recommend Gate 1 to anyone thinking about Southeast Asia, especially if you get Duc as your guide.
Over 11 different trips with Gate 1 and I've been satisfied every time. I've arranged my own flights on some occasions and everything still goes smoothly. Hotels have always been quality 4 star properties and the tour managers are accommodating and knowledgeable. Not every city tour has been amazing, but they've all been informative and interesting. When I wanted extra time in certain places, Gate 1 made it happen without complications. I even rescheduled flights for three of us while we were traveling through Munich and it was handled without any friction. I've currently got an England and Scotland adventure booked for April 2026. I've also recommended them to quite a few people who have recommended them to others.
I've taken 11 trips with Gate 1 and every single one has been great. Sometimes I booked my own flights and sometimes didn't, but either way it worked out fine. The accommodations were consistently 4 star quality and the tour managers were always there to help when I needed them. Sure, a few of the city tours were just okay, but they still gave us good information. When I wanted to stay extra nights in certain places, they made it easy. One time three of us even adjusted our flights while we were already in Munich and there were no problems at all. I've got another trip lined up to England and Scotland for April 2026. I've also told a bunch of friends about Gate 1, and they've told their friends too.
The Egypt cruise turned out to be a real letdown overall, though I'll give them credit for the food. I was really excited for this trip but it didn't meet expectations at all. First off, there was zero WiFi available on the ship, which made it tough to stay in touch or plan anything ahead of time. The schedule felt disorganized with unnecessarily early wake up times that left everyone exhausted. The extra activities felt rushed and poorly explained, and honestly not worth paying extra for. A big safety issue was the sun deck having an uneven surface. It made things uncomfortable and dangerous, and we actually saw three passengers take falls because of it. That shouldn't happen on any passenger ship. The tour leader was also unprofessional and didn't give clear instructions or seem interested in helping when people had questions. On the bright side, the food was genuinely delicious and expertly made. But as much as I enjoyed eating, it couldn't make up for everything else that went wrong.
Back home from an 8 day South Africa tour with Gate 1 and it was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Our tour leader Maggie was exceptional, and our driver Eddie was equally impressive. Both were super knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The hotels were fantastic and Marbula Game Reserve was absolutely incredible. The activities, food, accommodations and service were all top notch. I spotted several of the big 5 during the game drives, and watching the sunset out on the plains was unforgettable. They even served dinner under this enormous fig tree in the middle of the savanna. As someone traveling solo, I was nervous joining a group of 23, but everyone got along brilliantly. The people on that tour became like family. Thanks so much to Maggie and Eddie for making this truly magical.
Just got back from Gate 1's Moroccan Allure tour, a 15 day small group adventure from April 2025 that was absolutely stellar. Every aspect of the trip was thoughtfully planned to show us the best of Morocco. We saw bustling cities and quiet villages, explored souks and medinas, and visited historic sites including ancient Roman ruins. We crossed through the Atlas Mountains, spent a night glamping in the Sahara, and finished in charming Essaouira on the Atlantic coast before heading to Casablanca. The accommodations were varied and often absolutely enchanting, from traditional riads to kasbahs. The food was wonderful, particularly the cooking class we did in Marrakech. Our group of 20 people got along wonderfully and that smaller size really makes a difference. But the real highlight was our tour leader Youssef. I honestly can't say enough about him. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, kind, funny, and genuinely interested in each person. He'd remember little details about all of us and made everyone feel special. He brought the culture alive and we all fell head over heels for Morocco, its people, and its heritage. The timing was perfect too. Spring rains had created amazing wildflower displays everywhere we looked.
Gate 1 was our first choice for a Greece vacation and they really impressed us. Everything was straightforward from start to finish. Our airport pickup went smoothly and our guide Angela was outstanding. She knew so much about the country and really went the extra mile to make it special. What I loved most was that Gate 1 handled all the logistics between cities and we didn't have to stress about finding hotels or dragging our bags around. They took care of everything. Definitely booking with them again for our next trip.
I used Gate 1 to book a long haul connecting flight with China Southern for 16 hours and I was really pleased with how it went. I know seeing negative reviews can make you hesitant, but honestly a lot of travel issues happen due to things completely outside a company's control. That's why I wanted to share my positive experience. Everything worked out great, so I booked my flight home through them as well. I had my return tickets within hours of booking.
I booked a connecting flight through Gate 1 on China Southern for what turned out to be a 16 hour journey. The experience was really solid. I know it can be nerve wracking to book travel when you see some negative reviews out there, but a lot of those issues are things that are outside of Gate 1's control anyway. That made me want to actually write a positive review. Since it went so well, I went ahead and booked my return flight with them too. I had my tickets in my inbox within a couple hours.
The people of Zanzibar are genuinely wonderful and I hate to be critical of the destination itself, but there are serious concerns. Zanzibar island has significant sanitation issues and there's currently a monkeypox outbreak happening in Stone Town. The Tanzanian government has videos playing in airports warning travelers about it, with information on symptoms and instructions to isolate. Yet people who clearly have it are still out swimming, walking the beaches, working in shops, and just going about their day. It's really alarming and disturbing to witness. When I brought this to Gate 1's attention and suggested they shouldn't be sending visitors there, they basically defended their position and dismissed my concerns, saying my experience was just individual perspective. I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau and they got an F rating, so maybe I shouldn't be shocked by their response. I'd recommend checking the facts for yourself before committing to a trip there.
Our guide spent the whole week criticizing us for minor stuff. He yelled when we were 4 minutes late to something after being punctual for days, complained about us sitting in different seats even when plenty were open, and made snide comments about us just standing around during group activities. The guy came across as worn out and unhappy, wearing the same clothes all week without any luggage of his own. He talked constantly on the bus about random politics and religion instead of pointing out actual sights, and by the time he mentioned something worth seeing, we'd already passed it. I might consider Gate 1 again, but only if I could approve the tour leader first. This particular trip with Serge was really disappointing.
We did the Essential Germany tour starting December 3rd and it was really well run. Our guide Asia and driver Konrad made an amazing team. Asia was everything you'd want in a tour guide and then some. The whole operation was smooth and efficient. She left us detailed notes each evening about what was happening the next day. The seating system on the bus ran perfectly throughout the trip. We connected with all our local guides without any delays or problems. During the drives, Asia shared tons of interesting background information, history, and context that she'd clearly prepared ahead of time. She played local music that the group really enjoyed. After the scheduled activities each day, she'd give us suggestions for things to explore on our own. She was always ready to answer questions and had a genuine smile. Asia truly made the whole experience special and she's honestly the best tour guide I've experienced on any of our Gate 1 tours.
Our Morocco trip from late August into early September turned out to be a wonderful surprise and we're rating it 5 stars. Our guide Mohammed and his entire team made everything so smooth and enjoyable. The moment we got off the plane in Casablanca, Mohammed and his crew were there waiting to greet us. He and his team stayed on top of everything the entire time. You could tell they genuinely cared about us. Mohammed is a terrific guide who knows his material. We covered Rabat, Fez, Marrakech, and Casablanca in a comfortable air conditioned bus. The hotels were nice overall, though the Rabat property was just average, but it had outstanding breakfast and a great location. Getting back to the airport for our departure was handled well. Mohammed made sure we were set on the bus, and when we arrived, several staff members were there to help us. One gentleman was particularly helpful with our luggage all the way through to the ticket counter. Given what Gate 1 provides for the price, we'd give this a 5 star rating all day. Mohammed and his team are absolutely wonderful ambassadors for Gate 1 in Morocco.
I finished the 11 day Essential South Africa tour and honestly, I almost didn't go through with Gate 1 after booking. The reservation process had some real problems. When we called with questions, we got agents who didn't follow up, missed callbacks, gave us wrong information, and one manager basically said we should've used a travel agent instead. It felt like asking questions made us an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. Once the agent got our payment, the care kind of disappeared. However, our tour guide Colleen was fantastic. She looked after us so well and made the entire experience worthwhile. Because of how great she was, I'm willing to give Gate 1 another shot. But I want to say this: customer service doesn't end once the sale is made. Patience and respect should continue throughout.
Can't speak highly enough of our tour manager. The guy was so engaging and genuinely cared about our wellbeing and safety. Every single place we stayed was phenomenal. The bus driver was terrific and the luggage handler went above and beyond. I have mobility challenges and he made sure I was comfortable and supported throughout. The hotel staff everywhere we stopped were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home. This is what real hospitality looks like.
