Recently, the company informed me that macOS Tahoe would be the final macOS version their software would work with, and I'd need to buy their new version to keep using it going forward. When I reached out to customer service with my concerns, I pointed out that my original receipt didn't mention any version limitations or compatibility end dates. The only warning I could find was a small tooltip on their website and a support article, neither of which gives customers clear notice before they buy. Looking back at the company's track record, they used to give free upgrades to major new versions for lifetime license owners, which shows they've changed their policy without being upfront about it. After going back and forth several times, all they offered was a discount on buying the new version instead of actually addressing why my lifetime license became incompatible without proper disclosure. I plan to dispute this with the payment processor and explore other options through my credit card company and consumer protection agencies.
