What Shoppers Say About AptDeco
AptDeco has a severely polarized customer experience. The overwhelming majority of reviewers (80 percent) report critical problems: damaged furniture during pickup due to careless handling, significant payment delays lasting weeks, inaccurate item descriptions (undisclosed pet hair, size misrepresentations), unresponsive customer support when issues arise, and poor damage accountability. Shoppers consistently describe the company as unprofessional and irresponsible. A small group of satisfied sellers (15 percent) praise the straightforward listing process, helpful customer support, and professional pickup crews, though these positive experiences appear to be the exception rather than the norm.
The gap between positive and negative reviews suggests AptDeco operates inconsistently. While some customers have smooth transactions and appreciate the platform's ease of use, the prevalence of damage claims, payment problems, and listing accuracy issues presents serious concerns for both buyers and sellers. Trust appears to be the central issue, with many reviewers unable to resolve disputes or get timely responses from the company.

Sorted by: Most recentI'm absolutely livid with how unprofessional and irresponsible AptDeco has been. My vintage 1980s armoire from a well-known furniture maker was completely wrecked by their pickup crew due to their careless handling, despite me warning them multiple times about being careful. Then things got worse when they tried to dump the damaged piece in a public area and leave without taking responsibility. I had to stop them from driving away since I would've been stuck with a $300 storage facility fee for their mistake. Here's what made this whole ordeal absolutely terrible: A crew member showed up at my building around 9 PM without any advance notice, which felt unsafe and unprofessional. Even though I have video evidence and photos showing the item was fine before they arrived and destroyed it, they keep claiming it was damaged when they picked it up. I keep getting shuffled between different support people, and their customer service line just hangs up on me when I try calling.
I need to report a serious problem with a couch I received. It was nowhere close to what was described in the listing, and the whole experience was disappointing. The listing said it was from a house without pets, but when it arrived I found pet fur all over the cushions. Since we have people in our home with allergies, this created a health issue. We never would have bought it if the listing had been accurate, and we had to pay for professional cleaning right away to make things safe. Beyond the pet hair problem, the couch is also in bad shape. One cushion is noticeably worn down, and there are scratches across the seating areas. The whole thing was really dusty and dirty, which doesn't match what you'd expect to get. The delivery itself was also terrible. It was delayed without telling us, and we weren't informed about a cancellation, which left us scrambling to arrange for our old furniture to be removed and created unexpected costs that could have been prevented with better communication.
AptDeco is a complete disaster. They showed up to grab my media console with only two hours' notice instead of the 24 hours they're supposed to give. I made it work anyway. They picked it up on August twenty sixth but didn't pay me until October eighteenth. That's nearly eight weeks of me hounding them for my money. Every reply came with a new excuse or a broken promise. Their support team is basically nonexistent, they barely communicate, and everything about how they run things is disorganized. AptDeco is the textbook definition of unprofessional, unorganized, and untrustworthy. Do yourself a favor and sell somewhere else so you don't have to deal with this headache.
I've sold several living room furniture pieces on AptDeco and every time it's gone smoothly. The listing setup is really straightforward once you upload your photos, and the customer support team has been super helpful, friendly, and quick to respond whenever I've needed them. The crew that picks up your items is always pleasant and professional. You get paid fast once the buyer confirms they got their delivery. I'd definitely tell others to give AptDeco a try.
When the movers loaded my table into their truck, they snapped the legs clean off. Now AptDeco won't answer my questions about who's responsible for fixing it, and I can't get my information taken down from their website either. I'm not going back to them and I'd suggest other people avoid using them too.
This website is a complete scam. When the furniture arrived, it was bigger or smaller than what the seller said in the listing. They turned down my refund request because it was past the 48 hour window. STAY AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE!
I feel the same frustration as everyone else writing bad reviews, plus I had more problems as a seller. Even when I kept the price the same, they dropped what I'd actually earn multiple times. Something I listed for five hundred twenty five dollars was supposed to earn me two hundred fifty, then they lowered it to one hundred twenty nine. This company should be forced to close. And they have absolutely zero customer service. ZERO. When you message a seller about buying something, they either don't respond or send something so vague that it doesn't actually answer your questions. That's why I removed all my items.
I'm on the same page as everyone else leaving negative reviews, and there's another issue on top of that. As someone who was selling items, they kept cutting my earnings even though I didn't lower the asking price. I had something listed at five hundred and twenty five dollars, and they told me I'd make two hundred and fifty at first. Within two weeks they knocked it down to one hundred and twenty nine. The company needs to be forced to shut down. On top of everything, customer service basically doesn't exist. BASICALLY NOTHING. And when you try messaging a seller to ask about something, they either ghost you or give you such a short response that it doesn't really answer what you wanted to know. I took my stuff off their platform.
AptDeco is a used furniture marketplace with several real problems to think about: You can only use it in certain cities, which keeps out a lot of potential buyers and sellers. They tack on fees to different transactions, which increases what you end up paying. Since it's secondhand furniture, the quality varies a lot and sometimes you end up disappointed. Scheduling pickups and deliveries can be a hassle and shipments sometimes get delayed. The variety of items available isn't as wide as some other places, so your options are limited. Before you decide to use AptDeco, understand these limitations so you can make a smart choice and hopefully have better results.
I got charged almost five hundred dollars extra on my order. I've had okay experiences buying furniture through them before, but this time extra charges showed up after checkout. I contacted support before the sale went through, but they refused to acknowledge the problem was their fault. It's disappointing because they actually have nice furniture, but only use this site if you can afford to lose five to ten hundred dollars just in case.
