AptDeco Reviews
What Shoppers Say About AptDeco
AptDeco has a severely polarized customer experience. The overwhelming majority of reviewers (80 percent) report critical problems: damaged furniture during pickup due to careless handling, significant payment delays lasting weeks, inaccurate item descriptions (undisclosed pet hair, size misrepresentations), unresponsive customer support when issues arise, and poor damage accountability. Shoppers consistently describe the company as unprofessional and irresponsible. A small group of satisfied sellers (15 percent) praise the straightforward listing process, helpful customer support, and professional pickup crews, though these positive experiences appear to be the exception rather than the norm.
The gap between positive and negative reviews suggests AptDeco operates inconsistently. While some customers have smooth transactions and appreciate the platform's ease of use, the prevalence of damage claims, payment problems, and listing accuracy issues presents serious concerns for both buyers and sellers. Trust appears to be the central issue, with many reviewers unable to resolve disputes or get timely responses from the company.

Sorted by: Most recentI've had countless problems with this company. They overcharged me by over two thousand dollars, they cancelled my delivery with almost no notice, and they couldn't even provide a basic insurance certificate that my building required. The person selling to me made everything harder than it needed to be. They used to be decent but my recent experiences have been awful, and their support team doesn't actually help resolve issues.
Five hundred and twenty two dollars to deliver one chandelier? That's ridiculous.
I'm kicking myself for not reading the reviews first. I ordered an entertainment center and a pedestal table, both brand new and still packaged. I reached out twice before delivery to confirm the crew would unbox and set everything up for me since I'd had a bad experience with another furniture company's supposed white glove service. I have documentation where they said assembly would definitely happen. Two weeks went by while I waited because I wanted furniture that was actually put together instead of having massive boxes cluttering my place. The delivery team shows up and says nope, they don't do assembly. I stayed calm about it since it wasn't their call, but I ended up giving them each forty bucks for hauling everything to my apartment. I went back and forth with their support team because I was genuinely upset. They suggested sending people back in a couple days to put it together, but honestly, I don't have confidence their staff knows how to properly assemble furniture.
I bought a used console table from a major furniture brand a few weeks back. The delivery driver wouldn't communicate with me properly. Then through text they told me they were nearby and that the item was around 25 pounds, so they were just leaving it outside. Turns out it wasn't anywhere near 25 pounds. I couldn't even get it through my front door, let alone drag it upstairs to my second-floor place. So much for their white glove delivery promise. On top of that, they damaged one of the doors pretty badly. This was by far the worst used furniture buying experience I've had. It seems affordable and cool at first, but then you're stuck in a stressful nightmare, and the item you get might not even work. They love to brag about being eco-friendly and keeping waste out of landfills, but if they can't get their delivery process under control (especially with those crazy fees), why would anyone use them instead of just buying new furniture?
Watch out for how much delivery costs. The website isn't clear about what you'll actually pay for shipping, and the prices are steep, especially for items coming from out of state. I was hit with a two hundred dollar charge to deliver a simple chair that I can carry up stairs with basically no effort. Their support team is pretty awful. They won't listen to feedback about confusing parts of the site or acknowledge anything could be better. There's no way to back out once you see the delivery cost. They claimed they'd talk to the seller to cancel, but the item was already on its way by then. I get that this site is supposed to feel safer than dealing with strangers on a classified ad site, but I'll stick with that next time.
I've bought and sold through AptDeco multiple times and the service has been outstanding each time. The people who handle delivery are incredibly professional and always show up when they say they will.
The shipping costs are really high and the service quality is terrible. I bought a desk and paid a lot for delivery, but the movers blew off every single delivery appointment and only gave me an hour's heads up when they'd be in the neighborhood on working days. The company won't take any responsibility for their mistakes. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because of their unacceptable practices. They honestly shouldn't be allowed to operate.
I ordered a sofa for local delivery and had a wonderful experience. The item looked just like the pictures, and it showed up quickly without any issues. The delivery crew was considerate of my apartment and completed everything fast. For local orders, I'd definitely recommend them.
I ordered a sofa bed and it matched the photos in the listing at first. When I unfolded the bed part two days later, I discovered this huge discolored mark on the mattress that wasn't visible in any pictures or mentioned in the item description. I reached out to support and they said they only handle complaints within the first 24 hours after it arrives. Since I didn't find the stain until after that window, they said there was nothing they could do. All they offered was to remove fees if I wanted to sell it again. They didn't really hold the seller accountable for leaving out such important details. Just watch out because their return window is really tight.
