What Shoppers Say About astound.com
Astound.com receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 19 reviews averaging 1.5 out of 5. The most consistent complaints center on service reliability issues, including frequent outages and connection problems, as well as deceptive customer service practices. Shoppers report being quoted one price only to discover hidden fees and processing charges upon activation, experiencing confusion around promotional offers that the company claims not to honor, and receiving inconsistent information about service outages. A small minority of reviewers acknowledge that speed and connection quality can be good when the service is working.
Trust emerges as the primary concern across negative reviews, with shoppers describing the company's billing practices as misleading and their communications about service problems as inaccurate. Installation experiences have also been problematic, with technicians unable to establish service in some cases after lengthy troubleshooting. The few positive ratings suggest some customers have had acceptable experiences, but they represent a small fraction of the feedback received.

Sorted by: Most recentWe've been experiencing constant connection problems for about two months, with the service failing around eight different times. Sometimes a power restart helps, sometimes it doesn't. Whenever I contact the company it takes them days to dispatch a technician. Two techs have already come out. I cancelled one appointment when the service came back on its own, but now I need help again. This is getting old really fast. The customer support is completely inadequate. I wish there was a lower rating I could give.
My service has been dropping out consistently for the past two months. It's happened about eight times total. Sometimes it comes back after I restart everything, sometimes it doesn't. When I call to report it they take several days to send someone out. We've had technicians here twice already. I cancelled one service call when things started working again but now we need them back. Getting really frustrated with this whole situation. Their support is just not good. I'd give them zero stars if I could.
Service went down for more than three days. When you call they don't put you through to actual people, just routed to automated bots with scripted answers. They always say service will return within about two hours but nothing happens. Their introductory deals are cheap for two years then prices jump significantly. They keep raising rates on top of that for service that frequently fails.
Had no internet for over three days straight. When you call, there's nobody to speak with, just automated robots running through a script. They kept telling us service would be restored in about two hours but it never happened. Plus they hook you with cheap introductory rates for the first couple years and then jack up the price. On top of that they keep increasing charges even though their service is pretty unreliable.
Stay away from signing up with this company. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. I had been with them for ten years but left because they kept raising prices without telling anyone. After I cancelled they billed me for four days of service I never got, and when I complained they basically told me too bad. Worst experience ever with an internet provider.
Astound was acceptable for a while, speed wasn't amazing but better than some local competitors which is the only reason I'm giving them two stars. Then they surprised us with a price increase of fifteen dollars a few months in. This morning everything stopped working. WiFi connects fine but nothing can access the actual internet. I work from home doing tech work so this is a huge problem for me. Support kept resetting our modem remotely even though we'd already tried that multiple times and told them so. They lied about tech availability too, saying two days when it was actually four. Since I work from home this is critical infrastructure and they offered no solutions whatsoever. No compensation, no credits, nothing. When I mentioned another provider could install in half the time they still had nothing to offer. Skip this company if you possibly can. It's unfortunate other options in this area are so limited, but when Astound fails you're stuck.
I've been paying them for many years and they just nickel and dime you constantly. The breaking point was when they suddenly doubled my monthly bill. I cancelled and switched to a wireless home internet provider. My speeds got so much better, which was shocking. I really regret not making the switch sooner. This company can't be trusted at all. They don't care about keeping long term customers. Their support staff is rude and unhelpful.
I've dealt with terrible service for years now. I've had multiple techs out here, replaced the modem and router several different times, and even upgraded to their highest tier package. But in four years I've never been able to join a work call without getting disconnected. I'm seriously considering driving down the road to where another company has service just to attend meetings without issues. I ran diagnostics that showed constant instability, with ping times jumping from 40 to 400 rapidly throughout the day. A recent technician confirmed this was their equipment failing. I've wasted more than seven hundred dollars on new equipment when it was their fault all along. If any other option existed I'd switch immediately. They should refund me for all these years of paying for bad service. Don't go with them if you have other choices.
I'm convinced all internet providers are basically the same company. They come around promising amazing deals and incredible speeds, but what you actually get is worthless. Almost like clockwork, my connection starts failing right around when their office closes for the day. Within an hour it's usually completely gone. If you stay on the phone long enough you might reach a tech who makes you do all their troubleshooting, unplugging and plugging things back in over and over. The real problem isn't anything in my house though, it's their infrastructure. I'm not stupid enough to believe the signal just magically craps out the moment the office shuts down when it works fine during business hours.
