Costa Sunglasses Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Costa Sunglasses
Costa Sunglasses receives highly polarized feedback, with 17 shoppers rating the brand 4.0 out of 5. A strong majority of reviewers praise the quality and craftsmanship of the sunglasses themselves, with loyal customers noting that the products deliver good value and reliable performance. However, a significant portion of reviews highlight serious durability issues, including nose pads peeling or falling off within months of purchase and lens cracks developing within a year. Several reviewers also report frustration with the website checkout experience, including misleading shipping promotions that fail to appear at checkout, fluctuating prices, and difficulty applying vision insurance benefits.
Warranty claims appear to be a source of additional frustration for some customers, as durability issues that occur within a year may not be covered. While the brand maintains strong loyalty among longtime customers who appreciate its heritage and quality, the recent reviews suggest that product durability and website usability problems are creating a less reliable overall experience. Shoppers considering a purchase should be aware of potential build quality inconsistencies and may want to verify return and warranty policies before buying online.

Sorted by: Most recentI want to say upfront that I've loved Costa products my whole life. Since I was a teenager with sensitive eyes, I've relied on them through my entire adult life. For about a decade, I kept coming back to the same model, buying a few pairs over the years. Recently I realized they stopped making that style, so I spent a lot of time looking through the newer options to find the right fit. I was convinced the Fantail series would be perfect. They sit great on my narrower face and feel secure. Eventually, something loosened on one of the earpieces, and now when I put them on, that side feels wobbly. During activities or running, they slide down my nose constantly. I submitted a claim, and they immediately told me there was nothing they could do. It feels pretty disappointing when you've backed a brand for over 20 years and they won't help just because I was trying a different line. Unless I find some kind of solution, I'm seriously considering switching to another brand moving forward.
I'd strongly advise against buying these sunglasses. My wife got a pair as a Christmas present less than a year back. A few months in, the nose pad started peeling away from the frame. I spent considerable effort locating the receipt and got help from the original retailer, whose customer service was fantastic. Once I had the receipt, I filed a claim with the manufacturer, but they denied it saying it wasn't defective. Apparently, a nose pad coming loose within twelve months counts as normal use in their view. I really can't recommend these enough to avoid. There are plenty of other brands out there that are better options.
This was honestly the worst online shopping experience I've had in my 58 years. I tried using my vision insurance to buy, but nothing about the process was simple. The site was advertising free expedited shipping and free return shipping, but neither option showed up at checkout. Every time I went through it, the price shifted. There was a twenty-five dollar engraving option mentioned, but it never appeared in my cart, so I'm not sure if I'm even getting it. My total came to two hundred fifty-eight dollars, but when I reviewed my cart, it jumped to three hundred eight with zero explanation. The math didn't add up on the receipt either. I waited and tried again the next day. This time they were offering a complimentary shirt, which sounded nice until I found I couldn't pick a different size. Even worse, at checkout I could only use my insurance on one item, and the website wouldn't let me remove the free shirt. That meant I couldn't apply my insurance benefits and ended up paying way too much. After waiting another day for the offer to change, I finally got through the process, but the numbers still weren't right. And that free shipping deal never went through.

I purchased a pair back in March, and by September, the lenses had developed cracks and the nose rubber pads fell off. I went through the hassle of submitting a warranty claim, but they said it wasn't covered. What's frustrating is that one day I put them on and noticed a small crack in the corner of the right lens. Then one nose piece dropped off, and a few days later the other one did too. They insisted it was my responsibility and wanted me to buy replacement parts. I've been a loyal customer for quite a while and trusted Costa to stand behind their gear, so this change in their support is really disappointing. I'll be looking at other brands going forward.
Solid company overall. The craftsmanship is really nice, and you're not overpaying for what you get.
Shopping on the site was simple, and my order got here in no time. I'm really pleased with my purchase.
