What Shoppers Say About CultureFly
CultureFly receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 25 reviews averaging 1.8 out of 5. The most common complaints center on poor customer service, including slow email responses (sometimes taking days or weeks), lack of phone support, and an unwillingness to resolve issues such as damaged items, defective products, or billing errors. Shoppers report receiving damaged merchandise, items that never arrive, failed attempts to cancel orders, and unauthorized charges that persist. A small segment of satisfied customers (16 percent) praise past sales and earlier subscription boxes, though even these reviewers note quality declined over time and shipments frequently arrived late.
The company's inability or unwillingness to stand behind its products or quickly address customer problems represents the primary barrier to recommitment. Reviewers consistently note that CultureFly lacks basic customer service infrastructure, such as a phone number to call, and that email inquiries receive responses after multiple days or not at all. Several shoppers describe feeling dismissed or blamed for product defects rather than supported, which has damaged trust significantly. Even subscription box customers who had been loyal for years report cancellations and refusal to honor advertised discounts, leading to chargebacks and complaints filed with payment processors.

Sorted by: Most recentI would give negative five stars if possible. Ordered from them before and loved the sales. This time I placed a bigger order and had major problems. One item arrived completely smashed and another didn't show up at all. I sent them a message and noticed right away they have no phone number for customer service. Their response wasn't apologetic or helpful, just asking me to send pictures so they could review and decide what to do. You have to jump through hoops for their mistakes. The item that was missing was clearly marked with an X on the packing slip but they didn't mention it was never shipped and offered no refund. I had to send pictures of everything along with the order form and based on other reviews, nothing will probably happen. Be warned this company is not trustworthy. They're not accredited with the BBB and have a 1.3 star rating. I should have checked reviews first but I had good experiences before. That's on me. Never again though.
Would give zero stars if I could. I accidentally ordered two items and sent them an email within minutes asking to cancel one. They took three days to respond saying they couldn't cancel just one item and I'd have to cancel everything then repurchase what I wanted. They warned me to reply fast because once they create a shipping label it's too late. I got back to them in less than 90 minutes but never heard back. That night I placed a new order for just the one item thinking the other would be cancelled. Nope. They emailed me the next day saying my label had already been created and the only option was to wait for it to arrive and return it at my own massive expense for a refund that would be less than one item costs. It feels deliberate, like they waited for me to place another order so I'd be stuck with two unwanted items. I'm never shopping there again.
My daughter got a Pusheen mug set for Christmas and the day after she wanted to use it. I washed it first to be safe and checked the bottom for care instructions. It clearly said dishwasher safe on the top rack. After washing, the print on the mug is completely destroyed. I emailed the company about their defective product and they told me I need to return it. I explained the gift came from a relative in another state and they basically said they couldn't help and told me to get it back to that relative. Absolutely terrible product quality and even worse customer service. Be careful buying from them.
I've been subscribing to The Office box for about three years as a gift for my wife. The early boxes were definitely worth the price despite constant late arrivals, though the quality dipped towards the end. For the Spring Box, they emailed saying it would be delayed, which was fine. Three months after I paid, they suddenly cancelled my order and said they'd refund me. I never asked to cancel anything and was ready to wait, so I asked why. They claimed I started a fraud chargeback through my bank. That never happened, so I panicked and called my bank. They were just as confused as I was and explained that I'd have to request a chargeback myself. I wrote back to CultureFly explaining this and got nowhere. Now they're saying the Spring box is out of stock and I can't reorder it. Basically they couldn't fulfill the order, but instead of being honest they wasted my time making me call my bank to investigate a nonexistent problem and had the audacity to accuse me of fraud, which is completely ridiculous.
I tried placing an order for a Star Wars subscription box and the summer Mandalorian edition. My first attempt failed to go through, yet my card still got charged. I figured the charge would disappear naturally like it does with other retailers, so I tried ordering again and that one succeeded. When the first charge stayed on my account, I reached out asking for a refund. After almost a week, they told me there was only one order in their system. I requested a refund again with screenshots attached, but days went by without any response. Their confirmation email showing just one order on my account will at least help when I file a dispute with my credit card company, which seems inevitable at this point. Haven't received the boxes yet so I can't comment on the actual products. This is really disappointing since I was genuinely pumped about getting the Star Wars boxes, but this experience has left a terrible first impression.
They advertised discounts on certain boxes but wouldn't honor them. The customer service rep took a week to answer my initial questions and his response wasn't satisfactory, so I asked to speak with a manager. It's been another week and still waiting for that manager to contact me, which I'm sure will never happen. I'm in the process of filing complaints with the better business bureau and anyone else who will listen. This company clearly doesn't value its customers.
Been getting the avatar box since day one on a yearly plan and I'm not renewing. The first box was pretty amazing, but then they shipped a snowglobe in the winter and from what I could tell, most people's arrived broken. No common sense there. The second box was decent quality but the most recent one? Total garbage. The calendar is made of such flimsy material it won't hold up. The light-up standee is just cheap plastic. Even the hat makes no sense when a headband would have been way better. Everything feels like it's made with minimal effort and poor materials. Can't recommend renewing after my year is done. Really let down by how the quality dropped.
I went with the Pusheen seasonal box after hearing tons of negative stuff about this place, but figured I'd give it a shot. The first winter box arrived on schedule though one item was broken. I emailed through Amazon and they immediately sent a replacement, which also came broken haha. I still appreciated the effort at least. Bought another seasonal box after that. This one's running late and FedEx tracking shows they haven't even received it from the shipper yet. I'm going to wait until the return window closes, but the reason I order through Amazon is because they force a refund if anything goes wrong or if it's late. You don't have to deal with the company's customer service at all. I'd recommend doing the same thing to protect yourself.
I've had the Supernatural quarterly subscription for years and always dealt with shipping delays like everyone else. Recently I got charged for a box I didn't authorize because I was running low on cash. I contacted them the day after the charge and they refused to cancel or provide a refund. They said if I wanted my money back I'd have to send the box back once I got it, and they never mentioned anything about covering return shipping costs. The box hasn't even shipped yet. This company is greedy and doesn't care about their customers at all. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! They'll charge you and won't follow through on what they claim their policies are.
I had a year-long subscription to the Miraculous box. The first one was really impressive with lots of usable items. Quality went downhill as the year went on and items became pretty useless. I also grabbed a BOGO box and when it arrived, everything was damaged. I know it was a free box but I got a broken cup, a stained shirt and tons of other junk. I opened it Christmas morning and my family actually laughed at me saying I got ripped off. I tried leaving a negative review on their website but they pick and choose which reviews show up. They seem to only post reviews from people promoting them. Those customers apparently get the nice stuff.
