For a keyboard at this price point, I'd expect it to hold up better. They feel nice and type well, but the durability just isn't there. I'd probably look elsewhere.
My 5QS keyboard stopped showing the key lights out of nowhere. When I tried to open a support ticket through their website, it turned into a nightmare. I submitted the request twice with all the necessary details, but both times the system said it failed and told me to reach out to support. Problem is, the only way to contact them is by creating a ticket. It's like being stuck in some kind of loop where nothing works.
Ordered three identical keyboards from their store. One came with a serious key chatter problem that basically made it unusable right out of the box. The only suggestion from support was to clean the keys. The other two are working fine, but having a 33% failure rate isn't acceptable for this price range. Their support was unhelpful and disappointing.
These keyboards are decent enough but way overpriced, and the customer support is absolutely terrible. If you want a good mechanical keyboard, just build one yourself or grab a Ducky instead. Das offers boring switch options and charges premium prices for keyboards with cheap plastic keycaps. Their support team is useless and can't help with basic questions. I spent months trying to get spare parts they advertise right on their website, but they couldn't process the order. When I contacted their distributor, they actually suggested I find a broken keyboard to cannibalize for parts. This company is a joke.
Got my Das keyboard brand new for around $169 back in early 2020, and it stopped connecting about a year and a half later. Apparently this is some known issue with their firmware. When I called support, they basically said if I couldn't fix it myself, I'd need to ship it back at my own cost plus pay a $45 fee, and they might fix it or might not. I'm better off just using my old Logitech from a decade ago and telling people to stay away from Das Keyboard.
You might get lucky and your Das Keyboard will work great for years. But if you're unlucky like me, it'll break down within a few months of regular use and you're stuck. For what they charge, the customer service should be way better. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there. Also, their 3 year warranty doesn't even cover purchases from major retailers, which makes no sense. I'd skip buying from them entirely because the risk just isn't worth it.
Purchased a Das Keyboard 5Q and the experience was disappointing. The software was clunky, and the keyboard failed after less than 2 years despite being pricey. You only get a 1 year warranty on something that costs this much, which seems unreasonable.
I really enjoyed my DAS Keyboard 4 Mechanical with Cherry Brown switches when I first got it, but it died unexpectedly after about 2 years. Given that I spent $249 plus shipping, I was expecting much better longevity. I reached out to the company and they sent me a firmware update that might help, but it didn't work. They basically said they understood my situation and called it resolved. I'm pretty frustrated with the outcome.
