What Shoppers Say About Dorset Hideaways UK
Dorset Hideaways receives a low rating of 2.2 out of 5 from 10 shoppers, with serious concerns about booking reliability and customer service. Multiple reviewers report last-minute cancellations due to double-booking errors, with some groups of 14 people having their trips cancelled just days before arrival after booking months in advance. Affected customers describe significant disruption to their plans, including cancelled childcare arrangements and time off work.
Beyond cancellation issues, reviewers also cite accessibility problems, including lack of clear check-in instructions and the company being closed on weekends despite advertising round-the-clock availability. A small number of five-star reviews suggest that guests who successfully complete their stays do enjoy the properties themselves, but the operational failures significantly undermine the overall customer experience.

Sorted by: Most recentWe booked a place in Charmouth for a Sunday arrival but when we got there, we had no instructions on how to enter the property. We couldn't reach Dorset Hideaways because it turned out they're actually closed on Sundays. Our neighbors ended up helping us get the key, and we really enjoyed our time there. The weird part is they advertise round-the-clock support on their site, which clearly isn't accurate anymore, at least not based on our experience.
Had a really bad experience with this company. They cancelled my booking at the very last minute without giving me any reason at all. I would strongly advise other people to look elsewhere for their holiday rentals.
Just three days before our scheduled arrival, we were told our booking was cancelled because they'd double-booked the property. This was for 14 people on a trip we'd booked back in April. Everyone's weekend got ruined because we'd already arranged childcare and taken time off work. The customer service was really disappointing.
I'm very unhappy with how Dorset Hideaways handled our booking. We reserved a weekend trip several months in advance, but got notified just before arrival that they'd overbooked our accommodation and were cancelling. This last-minute cancellation created enormous stress since we'd already hired a babysitter and requested time off, leaving us scrambling to find somewhere else to stay. The company showed zero regard for the trouble they created, even though we'd organized everything well ahead of time. I cannot recommend them.
Booked through Dorset Hideaways in April for a 14-person group at a Bournemouth property in December. Three days before arrival, someone named Laura called to say the owners had double-booked and our reservation was being cancelled. Our whole party was devastated when they found out. The way Dorset Hideaways handled this was terrible. I'd warn anyone thinking about using this company or their related properties to stay away. It was a completely awful situation.
Our group of 14 had been looking forward to this weekend getaway for months. Just two days before we were supposed to arrive, we got a call saying they'd accidentally booked the same property twice and had to cancel on us. No real explanation was offered, and the person who called was dismissive and unhelpful throughout the conversation. This ruined what should have been a special trip for everyone. Steer clear of this company.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage in Burton. The location was fantastic, and whoever set up the house clearly thought of everything guests might need. The welcome package was a wonderful touch. When we showed up in late October, the place was already warm, spotless, and felt really welcoming. The weather cooperated too, which was great. We really appreciated this wonderful holiday experience.
First time booking with them last July and I was really impressed. Every time I called, someone picked up right away. The staff members were genuinely pleasant and knew how to help. If they said they'd look into something and call back, they actually did. It's nice to be able to actually talk to a real person who cares. I called mainly to ask about internet access in the property, and even though the info was on their site, I appreciated being able to get clarification easily.
Spent a week at The Dolls House in Sherborne but didn't receive the welcome hamper that was supposed to be part of the booking. I've tried reaching out to Dorset Hideaways multiple times via email with no response. Cannot recommend based on this experience.
We rented a cottage on the Isle of Wight through Dorset Hideaways and ran into some issues. The information packet we got a week before arrival was outdated. To figure out how to get into the property, I had to track down the housekeeper myself, only to find out they weren't connected to that particular place. After calling Dorset Hideaways back, I finally got the right contact details. Another problem was their description mentioned Apple TV with Netflix and a 20 pound balance, but nothing like that existed in the house. When I reached out asking if maybe I was missing something obvious, they told me to call the housekeeper again. My advice is to verify everything in their information before you show up, because things aren't always accurate.
