What Shoppers Say About Xcaret
Xcaret receives sharply polarized reviews, with shoppers split between those who had exceptional experiences and those who encountered serious problems. Positive reviewers praise the park's natural beauty, cultural performances, convenient amenities like shuttle service, and helpful customer service representatives who accommodated booking changes without hassle. However, the majority of reviews report significant issues including extremely long wait times and inefficient staff management at ticket windows, overcharging and counterfeit change incidents at restaurants, animals not visible in exhibits, cleanliness concerns, and one report of aggressive staff behavior. A particularly serious complaint involves an unresolved settlement refund that reportedly remained unpaid for over a year despite promises of release within 60 days.
The stark divide in ratings suggests that visitor experience at Xcaret varies dramatically depending on specific circumstances and which areas of the park are visited. While some guests report flawless visits with excellent food and attentive service, others describe systematic problems with pricing transparency, animal welfare visibility, facility cleanliness, and operational efficiency that detracted significantly from their visits.
Customer Reviews (10)
Sorted by: Most recentI filed for a refund after discovering what I believed were serious violations of consumer protection regulations in Mexico by this company. They agreed to settle the matter and set up an escrow account. Unfortunately, even though they promised to release the funds within 60 days, over a year has passed and the money from the settlement still hasn't been transferred. The escrow situation remains unresolved and I'm continuing to pursue this.
The location itself is really nice and worth checking out, but my entire visit got ruined by one staff member's terrible attitude. A woman wearing a red shirt yelled at me and acted aggressively while I was just trying to cross the street to catch my bus late in the evening, for no apparent reason. The area was basically empty at that moment. Even if I had somehow done something wrong, there's definitely a more professional way to handle it. The staff could use some training on customer interactions.
Skip this place entirely if you can. We had a terrible experience here. At one of the beach restaurants, they tried to cheat us by overcharging and even gave us counterfeit money as change. Prices across the board are unreasonable. Most of the animals weren't even visible in their supposed exhibits. Cleanliness is a major issue too, especially the food area which had a serious fly problem. This park isn't worth a visit.
This park exceeded all our expectations. We loved every aspect of the visit and plan to return. The staff treated us wonderfully, the food was excellent, and the shuttle service was convenient. Everything was just perfect for us.
While there are some cultural performances and natural features here, the whole experience is spoiled by massive wait times and poor management that makes getting around difficult. Discounts might seem appealing, but the ticket window staff aren't efficient at handling issues. You'll see 24 ticket windows available, yet only about eight are actually staffed, and I waited nearly an hour. I tried to use a national discount that should have been 10% off but only got 30 pesos deducted. When I asked to speak with a supervisor about the error, they completely ignored me. I'd say one day max is enough for this park. Because of how badly organized everything is, our whole vacation felt ruined.
My family decided on a spontaneous Mexico vacation with our young daughter and chose to visit here. I always seem to make booking mistakes, and this time I reserved tickets for the wrong week. When I contacted customer service right away, the representative I spoke with was super helpful and made the date change without any hassle. Really impressed with how smoothly everything went.
Nothing like what the pictures show you. Even with the premium ticket, there are extra charges everywhere. This zoo is disappointing overall. The animals are crammed into tiny enclosures and seem miserable. I didn't see any monkeys despite them being listed. The beach water looked murky and gross, and the river was packed with people. If you swim, you'll need to go really far since the current is basically non-existent. My meal came with basically one drink. The staff wasn't friendly or knowledgeable. I asked Guest Services for a refund but they turned me down.
This place is not worth your money or time. Admission costs are extremely high and you'll get charged extra for just about everything. The facility itself is pretty grimy, the animals are in really small and depressing spaces, and customer service is lacking. The river and other features don't feel authentic. We asked for our money back after being there less than an hour because we couldn't find our way around, but they refused.
