What Shoppers Say About FishUSA
FishUSA shoppers are sharply divided. Those satisfied with the retailer praise its extensive selection of fishing gear, particularly for ice fishing, solid pricing, and responsive customer service that goes the extra mile (like replacing lost packages without hassle or quickly applying military discounts). However, nearly half of reviewers report significant problems: delayed or incomplete shipments that missed promised delivery dates, inflexible warranty and upgrade policies, difficulty reaching customer service, and perceived quality inconsistencies in products year-over-year.
The most common complaint involves shipping reliability. Multiple shoppers ordered with expedited shipping for time-sensitive trips and received incomplete orders or packages that arrived late despite FishUSA's homepage promises and assurances from staff. Others report frustration with after-warranty customer service policies that offer no credit toward upgrades or replacements once the warranty window closes.

Sorted by: Most recentMy gear stopped working just outside the warranty period and they refused to help. I only wanted to swap it for a better model and pay the difference, but they wouldn't give me any credit toward the upgrade. Wanted to warn others about this policy.
Really disappointed with FishUSA. They posted a shipping timeline on their homepage promising holiday delivery, so I ordered before their stated cutoff to guarantee arrival before Christmas. I tracked my package on USPS and could tell it wouldn't arrive in time. I called customer service and they assured me it would definitely get here by the 26th at the latest. It didn't arrive before Christmas or by the 26th either, showing up five business days after the holiday. More empty promises. They advertise these delivery windows to pull customers in and get them to spend money, then once they have your cash they don't care if it actually shows up when promised. Returns are even worse because they make you pay return shipping. You get a label to print, but they subtract that shipping cost from your refund amount. It's a scam. I regret ever visiting their site.
FishUSA is definitely one of the top fishing gear retailers out there, especially if you're into ice fishing. They carry just about anything you could want. When the post office somehow lost my package, FishUSA replaced it immediately without any fuss. Their selection is great, pricing is solid, and they actually have customer service reps who care. I'll be ordering from them going forward.
FishUSA is the worst business I've dealt with. I ordered a St. Croix musky mojo rod and a Penn reel for a fishing trip up north that I'd already paid for, and paid extra for overnight shipping to make sure everything arrived on time. Three days later on the day of the trip, I only had the reel. When I called, I got put in voicemail four times over almost 40 minutes before someone actually picked up. The guy told me the rod was coming from St. Croix directly and hadn't shipped yet. I explained that I ordered from FishUSA, not St. Croix, and paid them for overnight delivery so everything would be here for my trip that my buddies and I had paid good money for. I asked for a partial refund and the rod delivered same day but he said he couldn't help. I paid FishUSA to get my gear overnight and ready for my trip, this wasn't cheap, and three business days went by with overnight shipping still pending. They refused to make it right.
I've purchased quite a bit over the years with zero issues. Recently I learned about a military discount available to me but couldn't get it applied during checkout. I contacted customer service and spoke with Jennifer who got everything sorted in minutes. Really appreciate the help.
Last year I ordered 1/16 jig heads from FishUSA and they were excellent with hooks that worked great for crappie. This year I bought the same product and the hooks are noticeably smaller, making it really tough to catch anything. I feel like I got cheated and the quality definitely went downhill.
FishUSA stocks an amazing variety of gear and my orders always arrive pretty quickly. I needed a replacement spool for my Shimano Stradic and FishUSA was literally the only retailer carrying it. They've repeatedly had items in stock when nobody else does, plus often at better prices. They're my go-to shop now and keep crushing it.
FishUSA doesn't seem to hold onto their vendors. Every time new management takes over, if you're not part of the inner circle you're out. They had quality items at one point but that's changed.
Avoid ordering from FishUSA. I got a couple of fishing rods that were supposed to be medium light action but they felt stiff as a board. Their return policy is brutal too because you pay full shipping costs to send items back without any authorization number or discount. Shipping from New York to Pennsylvania cost me $45. I'm done with them.
Ordered some lures two weeks ago and never received them. I called to cancel and they said they were shipping that day, but they'd already charged my card when I placed the order. I had the same issue two years ago where something not in stock got charged anyway. This time they claimed they couldn't cancel since it supposedly went out. This company is terrible and won't be getting my business again.
