The person checking bags was super patient and helpful. A staff member escorted me over to special assistance security where the team treated me with real compassion, even when my metal implant set off the alarm. They drove me to my gate in a buggy and let me board early. This was such a stark difference from a terrible experience at another European airport where I was treated roughly and made to feel small. But Gatwick changed everything for me that day. Everyone was so kind that I actually got emotional, but for all the right reasons. You gave me confidence back when I really needed it.
Both heading out for vacation and coming back home, I was really impressed with how smooth things went. Security lines were quick when I left and there was basically no wait at passport control when I returned. Definitely a better experience than the other UK airports I usually travel through. I was in the North Terminal for both trips.

Best security experience I've had at any airport, hands down. Everything ran like clockwork with staff who were respectful, attentive and genuinely pleasant throughout. Went through at 7:25am on a Friday morning in Lane 3 and it was perfectly organized. Great job to the whole team.
My flight came in late but from there everything moved incredibly fast. We walked off the plane and found no line at the electronic border gates. By the time I got to baggage claim, my luggage was already waiting. I cleared the whole airport in about 15 minutes. Fantastic efficiency! So much better than the nightmarish setup I dealt with at a European airport on the way there.
